I'm really surprised Volkswagen allowed the cars in that Beetle game to explode into pieces. I did a shitty mini-game for a VW internal e-learning course for their technicians. They didn't even let us SAY the car would crash if it ran into obstacles on the road. We could only make it slow down and we had absolutely no permission to even animate the vehicle. It was just a static PNG.
It was a side-scrolling "racing" game where you raced against nobody else because they didn't want their cars hitting each other and we couldn't feature other cars. So it ended up being Excitebike without the satisfying crashing. That was your "reward" for going through the course with a grade above 90%. Also the amount of time you could play the game was restricted.
@@MrWolfSnack Usually games with any crumple physics say right up front that the physics aren't a realistic depiction of the way cars behave when crashed and shouldn't be imitated out of legal liability's sake to dismiss that potential thought. HOWEVER BeamNG actually does put a fair bit of effort into the realism of it's car physics (other than the point when the motor will give out), which probably looked bad on Blue Bird because Busses seriously are that flimsy in a crash.
