This is a great topic. It's definitely subjective. I bought Kilian Black Phantom from a discounter but would pay full retail for it if it wasn't discounted. Had a clone of it first and still bought the original because I thought it was that good. On the flip side, Aventus Cologne is one not worth the price tag especially considering the lousy performance (at least on my skin). Plus, it doesn't compare to the original Aventus IMO which I'd also say is debatable as far as paying full retail.
Back in the 90’s I expected to pay $125-$150 for a designer gift box (100 mL fragrance, aftershave balm, & deodorant or a bar of soap) on sale at Christmas. So now my 100 ML max is $225 discounters price on exclusive dna’s. I know you can get high quality 100 ML’s for that price. if it’s over $225 and I have to have it I’ll just purchase a 9 mL
I do think there are a few, just a few, fragrances that are worth every penny. However, 99% are not worth their weight in gold. Let's take Roja Parfums for example. Their fragrances smell of higher quality and are of higher quality but absolutely do not warrant a $1050 price tag (Diaghilev, Nuwa, Amber Aoud, etc). Then, you have Savoir Faire Soul Cafe which was around $150 which smells of quality as well...I will pay that all day every day
Yes, My Savoir Fair, Day Three, George Zarahoff, Aaron Terrence Hughes, Altillier Parfums…. independently owned houses matching and exceeding niche quality. ✨I really think this is the next wave for content creators as well as perfumers. A perfumer with a few thousand in their circle of influence can make $$ without compromising quality and doesn’t have to produce at high volume. They don’t have to sell their brain child fragrance to a big house just to make money.
Subjective indeed. Isola Blu is Terre D’Hermes Elixir to me. The price per ml is way out of whack imo. I love TDH pure parfum, so it’s not that I dont like fragrance, but the way it’s discussed in reviews has me building it up in my head, so when I smelled it, I was like “oh, I think I’ve smelled this before.”
Great topic i own elysium pc and my experiance in the parfum version woz subtle to say the least and wiv the arrival of the divin asylum clone wich is shockingly close it makes both of them not worth the price tag imo !! i luv to hunt down quality neche fragrances that sit around the 150 gbp price point ie nishane hersperide... moncler le corde Thomas kosmala fragrances olfactive studios Essential parfums just a few houses and frags that to me are the right money per quality power and likability my sotd and one of my current favs is visionary eye by jus box check it out peace out from the uk !!!
Would never pay retail for amouage, none of their offerings excites me Roja just too expensive for 4 hours longevity. Very rare of the lineup is long lasting and loud Creed is a joke for the price

In my opinion, Lyric is great for warm weather and humidity.

I’ve heard the comparison and I can understand it but the only thing that’s similar to me between the two is the grapefruit.
Yeah, signature rose is definitely better than Lyric Man. Much more modern, more interesting and more wearable as a masculine rose than Lyric Man.
