The other thing about the qtron+ is that it has its own FX loop. I've run various ODs through it, which can kind of give you the volume boost effect you can get with an otiginal mutron. That gives you a foot switchable option that sounds better than the internal boost.
Have an original Musictronics Mutron and nothing else actually nails the Jerry tone. BUT the original EH Qtron (large silver enclosure) is much closer than the Qtron plus. The Nano Qtron is awesome for space and power and works great for the one maybe two tunes a night that its needed. Try driving it with a clean boost or compressor. You need to turn the Q way down on all of them, think 1/4 open and adjust the gain to open it. The down is required for Bobby tones and a Dancing in the streets 70s vibe. Recommend a noticeable volume increase and a sensitive dynamic pick attack when trying to get a jerry tone.
i play with similar settings. Playing with the volume knob on the guitars changes teh tone alot with the qtron+. I tend to raise volume up a bit when playing high e on lower frets and lower it back down into the 5-6 range everywhere else. This is when playing on a silversky. The volume knob is key though on any guitar!
I used sweep up exclusively for a long time. If you sweep down and adjust the settings until you like it… it’s arguably more satisfying as it’s a more unique sound

Mostly agree but I gotta say if you have the right settings turning the sweep down gets you a great dancing in the streets style tone, also disagree with only keeping the response on fast I actually keep it on slow usually for dead tunes
I had a Bubbletron for a while and just sold it today for a Q-Tron Nano. While the sample filter settings were great, I found the phaser and flange to be lackluster. Also, even if you open the Bubbletron and mess with the dip switches, the envelope filter isn’t that great. You’re better off getting the Q-Tron Nano or the EQD Spatial Delivery. UNLESS, you’re into the Zappa sound since it’s modeled after his rig.
I got the Bubbletron because I’m a big Zappa fan and it had some of those unique sounds. I found it to be hard to trigger the sounds I was going for, and the flanger and other tones weren’t as good as the Boss Flanger I already had. I ended up selling it. YMMV. ☮️

How’s the foot switch on the Q Tron Plus? Is it smooth or a loud click? I just got one and it’s a loud stiff click. All my other pedal are smooth and when I’ve looked at other videos it seems smooth and no click. Not sure if I have a faulty switch. Thanks
Ehx stuff is in general loud click and heavy to press, except if it has tap, a preset or a momentary switch (like the Ring Thing and Superego) then those are easy press and silent (on/off switch is still the normal loud one). I have/had a Q Tron, Micro Q Tron, Micro Pog, Ring Thing and Superego.
In the intro I get up to a G or A on the high E and it still sounds pretty good. I am not boosting it with my double hum bucker guitars, but that might be the right call if you are a Fender guy

I play all kinds of guitars but I’m really interested on how well it triggers when playing the higher register unwound strings with normal output style strat pups. I had the qtron+, traded it out for a Maxon AF9. AF9 sounded great and was easier to field but without being boosted, the AF9 had trouble getting triggered by the higher unwound strings. So if it doesn’t have too much problem unboosted with strat style pups then it’ll do just fine boosted. Excellent, thanks again.
Yes, I have realized recently that the Qtron doesn't work well with every guitar / pickup combo. Been meaning to do an update now that I have a mutron and a Keeley Neutrino.

i am not going to come on another person's channel and talk about my own videos. but i will say that it is fair to critique a video that has a title that offers information about effects pedals, and then the guy talking has not done enough research and experimentation to understand them himself. i came to this video hoping to learn something, and it cost me some time and soaked up some of my search result choices.
@@blackbeltjones2903 You would be correct. The biggest factor of those being the amount of treble you're boosting. If it sounds good in your bedroom then it's going to be a muddy mess in a band mix. In the mix, the guitar has to emphasize the upper mids or it's not going to be heard, and if you have too much low mids it's going to make the bass and drums sound like shit too.

I'm back at. Pickups and what is in front of the envelope filter are absolutely key. I now have a clean boost and compressor on the board.

Looks like they are in different places in his pedal chain. That can affect it.
There is also a trim pot inside you can adjust

Have you ever tried out the Keeley Bubble-Tron? It's a three way dynamic flanger/phaser/envelope filter and I think you would love it to be honest.

I have not heard of big generational changes in the Q Tron. The one I'm playing through is about 3 or 4 years old

mines pretty loud too compared to other pedals. have had it for a long time and no issues.

I just sold my micro qtron. Much cheaper but it just doesn't sound that great.
Why not just get a Cioks DC7 and then you can run 9V 12V 18V and 24V pedals?

I don't blame him. Low pass setting on envelope filters has the most pleasing sound imo.
