I ised to fish that creek when i was a kid, now that i have a kayak they have rebuilt the bridge on hecksher and you cant put in there anymore, on top of that the launch at little talbot campground is closed too. Where did you launch from to get there? Cedar Point? Alamaconi?
That's awesome! I launched from Kayak Amelia in this video. However recently, the state didn't renew their lease so they are now closed as well. Closest launch is Ribault Club or Alamacani unfortunately. Or if you can figure out how to launch from the side of the road, that would be best. I haven't tried that yet since all the construction. Doesn't look easy with all the rocks they put down. Good luck!
@VISUAL-LY Yeah Kayak Amelia has been bought out by a national company called Padl. I called them yesterday and couldn't get an answer. Thanks for the info! Keep killing it in these videos bud. I love watching them!
Been watching your videos now for a while… Nice job on this one. You definitely were killing them out there! I love kayak fishing but don’t get to go as much as I’d like… Busy with life and family lol. Do mind sharing what marsh/creek you wereat here? And would you mind sharing with me, some good marshes and creeks for kayak fishing in Jax? Thanks again for sharing your tips and secrets! Have a blessed day If you would be willing to go sometime, maybe we could meet up? I would love to learn more.👍
Really appreciate Michael! That particular creek was in the Ft George area. As far as other creeks, you really can't go wrong anywhere. If you know how to locate fish and fish the right times, certain tides, moon phases, etc. All of them will produce fish. Browns, Clapboard, Sisters, Haulover, Broward, Dunn. They're all good. Just get out and explore, that's the best way to learn. Can def meet up one day. Just let me know! Thanks for visiting the channel!🤙
Not quite this creek but sorta nearby you can fish the creek that goes under the bridge. Unfortunately, they’re still doing construction on the bridge and I’m not sure if you’re able to walk down to the shoreline or not.
Great video. I'll be at Amelia Island over the summer and I'm researching places where I can kayak fish within a mile or two from the launch. So far I'm looking at Sawpit Creek and Kayak Amelia as preferred locations. Do you have any recommendations?
I'd definitely launch at kayak Amelia. But limited on time there. Opens at 9 and closes at 5. And near/at low tide, the gravel launch (their best launch) is unusable. Keep that in mind. Sawpit is pretty cool too. Lots of options if launching out there. I would also check out the 2 launches in Fernandina. They put you right in some great fishing grounds. If going further south, check out Alamicani boat ramp, another great location.🤙
That’s a great day! I was in the office on Thursday, looking out the windows and wishing I was up on Simpson’s instead! Where do you buy minnows out there? White Shell?
I live here in Jax too and starting to get the itch for kayak fishing with all the beautiful waterways we have here! How often do you run into gators out here?
Yeah, you have to get out and enjoy the beautiful scenery. Don’t even have to fish. So many different waterways to explore. If you stay mainly in the salt, you won’t see many gators. I’ve seen 2 in saltwater in all my years of fishing. If you wander out to brackish waterways, expect to run into a few. And Guana lake, you might see at least 1 everytime. In all instances, they’re scared of us and leave the area asap
