that looks like an awesome bug zapper Steve that huge thing that was inside of it was quite interesting to see... I also loved seeing the beautiful spots you camped at out there ... it's always great coming along with you. I am so ready for the mountains.

I'm ready for the mountains too... it's been very therapeutic to go back through the footage for these reviews. Can't wait to get back out there!

I think the tent is what it is designed for. Unfortunately I had no idea as to this purpose and i bought it to hang in my back yard in the patio. So far it has worked well BUT there is no instructions or guidance as to how to clean it out of all the dead bugs. Major oversight. you can't get a soft toothbrush in there and running it under water seems problematic.

I had the same problem. I found that a Qtip works well. Thanks for commenting 🙂

Hi Steve- Great to learn about this bug zapper! There are some trips and times of the year when this will really come in handy! I hope it works well inside a tent!

I'm glad you found it helpful. I'm looking forward to it myself this year & plan to make it my primary tent lantern, now that I know how to properly use it 😀

Harbor Freight has a knockoff with the exact specs. and was made by the same manufacturer and it only costs $13.

It's exactly for keeping the inside of a tent biting insect free.
The open outside makes this zapper microscopic to mosquitos.
Citronella candles are the best outdoor parameter block.
A tent light with a bug zapper feature.

Hey Steve, I just found this bug zapper/ lantern at Harbor Freight for 14. 95. I'm wondering about cleaning crispy bugs out of there. Did you find it to be a problem?

I meant to mention that, but forgot. I used a cotton swab (q-tip) when I got home each time & they came right off without a problem 🙂

Nice review Steve. Now I’m interested to see how it does actually in your tent.

Question ? can you turn the light on and off ?

    • @utahsteveoutdoors
      @utahsteveoutdoors  4 місяці тому

Yeah. There are 3 brightness settings. To power it on & off, you just push & hold the button. There's a separate button for the bug zapper.

No... it's actually very quiet. It's not like those big zappers that buzz really loud.

But if you hang it in a closed tent there should be nothing to zap... Rechargeable seems better than butane powered. Mozzies/Skeeters sense the carbon dioxide when you exhale.

Makes sense. I didn't know that about the gas... it is mostly just a gimmick and definitely not a necessity. It didn't do much to keep the bugs off of me, but it did take care of the ones immediately around it, lol.
