After that, OTR was never a problem, but I’m done with that😂 but I caught hell with the local market 😣 after a month and a half. I found a decent regional job while still searching for a local job that makes sense and not a slave ship.

Ok, Young One, there is only two forms of trucking. Being a company driver in one company up to retirement, gaining all of the benefits of seniority from that company or working to become an owner operator. Which entails, good credit, savings, getting your Authority, Insurance, truck and trailer. And having start up capitol a long with rental backup abilities. So, a big NO on taking time off, because it's wasted time gaining nothing that works towards your main goal of end of life finances... Get at it, young lady?
Grand rising 🌞 beautiful... You seem to be very positive... and humble which is a great look 👏🏾👏🏾. Have you ever thought about being an owner operator with your own authority?? Of course studying the game before jumping in.. getting a cash truck.. and going local..

I'm a 15 yr driver I've had to take some time off before . 3 months to be exact. No problem getting a job but I didn't have an insident on my record. Good luck to you. But your mental health is more important too
One option you can look into is train and earn your real estate license. The requirements are specific to your state, so you can look up the details online. Another thing you can look into is being a freight agent with Landstar. I don't have experience in the trucking industry, but I watch alot of youtube videos and heard good things about Landstar.
Trucking is really life style and plus you have to love it and dedicate your time to it. Just find something works for you. I drove OTR, Regional, dedicate and i find that local sometime overnight once s week really works for me.
Last year I took 9 months off from driving after 4 years of the bs in the industry. This year I took off 3 after prime burned me. What I’ve learned is my mental and physical health needs to be out of a truck more. Currently I drive part time 3 days a week. It’s not much much but I still get to feel like a driver a bit, and keep the skills fresh, but I don’t have to put up with the drama from driving so much that it gets to me Family, friends and good memories are what makes life worth living. Trucking is a good stepping stone to make decent money fairly quick, but it comes at a cost that is never worth it,
I definitely agree with a lot of the things you mentioned. Especially having time away from the truck to get a mental and physical reset. There really is a lot of BS that goes on out here and it really can take a toll on us. I’m ok with taking this break to see how I can set myself up in another way. I hope to get back to it soon but not without a better plan. It’s great you can still do it part time. Oh and don’t get me started on Prime 😩
@@NyllaRaee if you have anything strange on your report it may be why. Or if a previous employer left something bad on it. When I was at prime they almost made me train for 3 months after taking off 9. It’s just a weird time in trucking where a lot of carriers want experienced drivers to retrain so I they make more money and it’s harder to get hired if you don’t have a good amount of experience and a spotless record. I think certain areas are worse than others too. And if you’re anting regional vs otr. Local and regional with megas is alot harder to come by right now. At worst you may have to do a lease op just to get something going til you can get on as a company driver. I would f really recommend being one but it may be a way back in
If terminated with safety issues, that's gonna be difficult. It's taken about 6 months for that to clear out. But there's always away around it like contract driver like LLC

Multiple thing do help. If your heart is still in cdl driving, class a/b has a lot of alternatives. Drive the old folks around on the bus shuttle. Shoot your smart and have experience in cdl, drive medication around for certain business and pharmacy. I am 24 and trying to look into getting my cdl.i still work basic labor jobs but I already see how product transport and where every job has a place. You can do anything. That resume may need a touch up, or go back to opportunity that you probably had before trucking but just didn’t have time for. Do you and just don’t give up on becoming our own boss. Maybe deliver plants for those big companies like Monrovia and such. Lowes deals with plant cargo, warehouse product, and etcetera. UA-cam is also great though. And then pharma has call center, truck route job, and all kind of things someone like ou can use as a stepping stone to get you where you need to be. Information is key and also your time. I don’t have any links or info but I know you might have some alternative opportunities that you might have out to the side since trucking. Keep on the grind and may he light guide you, unique soul.

Don't beat yourself up over this. Newer drivers have minor accidents. Yes, this is minor. You didn't kill anyone or roll the truck and the damage sounds minor. Literally now here approaching a month of and now deciding if I just need to jump back in now. The longest break I’ve ever taken is 2 weeks.
I took a break from trucking for about a year and a half. I went and worked in Yosemite National Park for the summer and then got back into the shop as a diesel tech for almost a year and got terminated.
It was a break I definitely needed. I think I was burnt out maybe, but I was shocked to see that I didn't lose too much skill over that long break.
Sorry about the job loss. I hope you land somewhere that actually appreciates you. 🤗❤️🤗
Also, you look great for 38. 💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾

Have you thought about investing in real estate?
@@harrelljones4379 my idea of investing in real estate right now would probably be adding REIT Stocks and learning how to earn from that. If it’s flipping houses or anything of that nature, I’d fear I’d need a decent amount to start investing.
@JusTruknIt as a strategy... you could use trucking to build passive income. Just an idea .
Truck got stolen, which made insurance put me on hold for investigation from my job. Took six months off to gain other career certifications. After that, OTR was never a problem, but I’m done with that😂 but I caught hell with the local market 😣 after a month and a half. I found a decent regional job while still searching for a local job that makes sense and not a slave ship.
I took off almost 4 years and I came back. But I had over 10 years experience over the road when I left. If you have under 2 or 3 years of experience I definitely wouldn't recommend that.
Everybody isn't made for trucking it's a rough life .
I can agree with that
I was out for 20 yrs and I had to go through a refresher course…
20 years and came back. 10 years is the longest I’ve heard so far. That’s amazing. Can you tell me exactly what the refresher course entails?
Longest break was 14 months I went off to Africa from 🇬🇧 it was so easy getting back in..I had 10 years experience wen I did so

Awwww why you wanna make me tear up though 🥹 I sometimes feel like the videos won’t be relevant and pause until it’s worthwhile but I really need to make a shift from focusing on solely my experience and more about over all info that can help everyone
I'm a 15 yr driver I've had to take some time off before . 3 months to be exact. No problem getting a job but I didn't have an insident on my record. Good luck to you. But your mental health is more important too
@@lisaharris6091 Exactly that’s Dedi gonna be a big issue. That’s why I wanna have all my ducks in a row before I attempt to jump back in.
I definitely agree that we all have to find what works for us in this industry.
Last year I took 9 months off from driving after 4 years of the bs in the industry. This year I took off 3 after prime burned me.
What I’ve learned is my mental and physical health needs to be out of a truck more. Currently I drive part time 3 days a week. It’s not much much but I still get to feel like a driver a bit, and keep the skills fresh, but I don’t have to put up with the drama from driving so much that it gets to me
Family, friends and good memories are what makes life worth living.
How did u get a job I keep getting rejected because I don’t have recent experience 😢 I took off the same amount of time
@@NyllaRaee if you have anything strange on your report it may be why.

Taking a break in trucking could hurt you. The good paying trucking companies that probably would hire now, might not want to hire you if you break to long, most companies would want to treat you like a new driver with no experience. Most good companies that pay very very well will consider that a red flag. Don't beat yourself up over this. Newer drivers have minor accidents. Yes, this is minor. You didn't kill anyone or roll the truck and the damage sounds minor. Some companies are forced to let newer employees go after any accident due to their insurance carrier. Don't take it personally.
It can be very nerve wracking to deal with getting a new job. Keep in mind that the pool of tanker drivers is much smaller then other fields, you just gotta get a year or 2 in to open more doors. Don't wait if you believe you will return to trucking. If you already had 4 or 5 years in then you could get away with more time off, but if the time off is longer then the time you worked, you might have a harder time finding something that suits you in the local market.

So at this present moment In my life trying to see what sticks is it. Who are you to tell me it isn’t? Additionally who says this is just about the money? If that’s the case wouldn’t I just rush to get back into trucking knowing I was making good money. To also conclude you’re question about the interviews, how do you know that now with me having more time that is not something I’ll be doing 🤦🏾♀️ competition is everywhere in this world, why would I need to be careful when that’s a natural aspect of life that has to occur.
