Happy Christmas to you too, like you I have never done Andromida with guiding, so Monday it's supposed to be clear here where I live, so I hope I can get a good image like you 👍
Like you I would never polar align by leaving the cap on the polar scope lol, I'd just use the 3 point polar align within NINA as it's much more accurate. If you have a laptop just connect to the mini pc open NINA & use the 3 point polar align which you can download in NINA, you could always check your focus there to when all done go inside in the warm choose your target & let the rig do the rest.
🫣 thank you for the advice regarding Nina and 3 point polar alignment. In one of my next videos I will exactly do that. It is so much nicer! Still the altitude adjustments are a pain in the … ;)
Why do you use mini computer? Instead that I use 15m active usb cable. You can by 10-15-20m or sometumes 30m Active usb cable (USB 2.0 is more than enough)- and that is loooot cheaper than mini pc slidin on the side of the mount and expose for weather, humidity/freeze/etc.. I use my laptop inside from my house(sometimes I use Teamview to "cast" to my main desktop computer) , with NINA, and works perfect! And the other, the polar aligment: as somebody mentioned before, NINA has a 3 point polar aligment extension, I simply make rough polar aligment with the polar scope, and then 3 star aligment. After 2-3 atempt you can easily get within 1-2 arcsec in 3-4 minutes. ( I use my smartphone with teamview for this process) So you also not need any polemaster or such a extra for accurate polar aligment. Only your mount, main camera. and Nina, thats it..
Thank you for your suggestions! I use the mini computer for 2 reasons mainly: 1. I use my scope mainly on my balcony. In winter when the cable runs through the window it gets really cold. (My Wife is not happy about that). With that setup I can easily control it from inside via Remote Desktop. 2. I am a nerd and love this kind of solution ;) Yes, NINAs polar alignment is awesome! Have uses it by now and was aware of it. In one of my next Videos I will use actually. But I just didn’t want to take that shortcut. I want to experience these things and let you take part of my way to getting better and use other equipment and software! Thank you again!
The 5min u guided sub with trails means your polar alignment is off. Check alignment with phd2 guide assistant thru your main scope, not the guide scope. Thanks for sharing.
You asked about different set up processes. I have set up plate solving in NINA using ASTAP and Platesolve3 - do this first. Then next time you can use NINA plugin "three point polar alignment" to Polar, later I use plate solving to align on to the target. Sept my step; 1) point tripod North and level. 2) Put mount and rig on tripod. Set focus on any star you can see in Nina. 3) Once focused make sure Nina can plate solve a random image (change exposure and gain till plate solving work) 4) Nina "three point polar alignment" (use expose and gain from above). Start enjoying the night sky. Comments on my process also welcome.
Hi!
Hey I just Bought that mount, that mini pc is like an asiair plus or something like that ? Is it possible to connect the mount directly to a laptop and use nina ? And for last how long the exposure could be without guiding? I’ve heard that 3 minutes with the 3 star alignment, what do you think?
Awesome! It is a mini pc with windows 11. I use Remote Desktop to connect to it and use it like I would use a normal PC. You could of course plug your mount directly to a laptop or any other computer as long as you have the eqmod etc on that computer. I think 3 minute exposures without guiding and even with 3 star alignment is to much. I have done it with a good alignment just to see how it looks like and the image would not have been useful. If you want to get serious with that hobby I would suggest guiding with a guidescope and a guide camera. That would not be that much more expensive. Have a great day
Merry Christmas! Thank you! That would never be possible without some post processing. I have used photoshop. I will definitely do a tutorial how to achieve that. I have to admit that I have some experience because of my past with Night-sky landscape photography
@DocAstro thank you and have a merry christmas!!! I look forward to other vids. I am very new to the hobby and post processing seems to be very arduous and takes a very long time. If you have any vids or advice on simplifying that process, it would be much appreciated.
@@SC04R1 thank you! And yes in the beginning it can be quite intimidating and it takes some time but is absolutely necessary. I will definitely do a post processing guide but I have to admit that I am still learning. But that is not necessarily a bad thing. You will see it from a beginner perspective. But until then I recommend you the tutorials from atrobackyard for example (there are a lot of other, too)
Happy New Year to you and your family.
Nina works great. I now use a ZWO ASIAIR to do everything from my tablet/phone
Setup Nina to use plate solving. I use ASTAP. I use Sharpcap Pro for polar alignment.
Thank you for the advice! I have already set it up and will show it in a next video!
This is awesome! ASTAP + NNA is the best combo!
danke für das lehrreiche Video. Abo ist sicher. Guten Rutsch!
Danke schön!! Freut mich dass es dir gefällt! Dir auch einen guten Rutsch!
Polar Scope Align Pro app is awesome to zero in on North and Polaris. It makes setup easy to start the imaging process, clear skies Doc
Do you mean ps align? I am using that one too. Thank you for your comment and likewise clear skies!

Ist deine Kamera für Astrophotografie modifiziert oder ist sie "original"?
Wenn ja, welche Modifizierungen sind vorgenommen worden?

Merry Christmas! Thank you! That would never be possible without some post processing. I have used photoshop. I will definitely do a tutorial how to achieve that.

Schönes Video! Gratulation dazu. Kleine Anregung : die Musik ist im Verhältnis zur Sprache VIEL zu laut. Das ist recht anstrengend ;)
Vielen Dank! Auch danke für das Feedback. Ich werde es für das nächste Video beachten
