This was so cool to watch! I am researching my geneology and it turns out based on records, Gov. Moorehead was my 4th generation grandfather on my mother's side.
Obedience Motley Moreheads brother Daniel Motley was my 2nd. Great Grandfather. Gov. John Motley Morehead was given the Motley middle name as I look on the family tree and my ancestors even today in my family our children are given our ancestors name . My grandmother was Ida Maude Motley. As a child and adult we remember her telling us stories of her childhood. Her father was James Motley and his father Daniel Motley. Daniel Motley was Obedience brother. I moved to North Carolina 4 years ago from Pittsylvania county Virginia. I was walking for exercise one day and see a house I loved when stopped to admire it I read the Plaque and it had John Motley Morehead name I got so excited I told my husband that's my family so went home pulled out my family's tree notes a photos showed him. Then he told me about Blandwood and I got to vist my GGG Aunts OBEDIENCE (BIDDY'S) Motley Moreheads home...
first off, it's MOREHEAD not moorehead. second, my ancestor is Gov. Morehead also on my mothers side.
