I was literally in tears bawling after watching the hoarders episode about this home. Sandra losing almost everything she owned and the compassion this couple showed her during the process of her having to come to grips with the fact that this home she lived in and took care of for over 40 years wasn't hers anymore. So glad they restored the home and are happily living in it with their family. And they shared the restoration process with neighbors and their community. Like they said, "Remember we cry when we're happy and when we're sad." To see their daughters running around the front yard like they envisioned. So glad it turned out to be a happy ending.

When they're talking about the house back in it's prime, back in the 70's when it was a designer showcase, the aforementioned "designer" was the house's previous owner Sandra, who was an extremely successful and talented interior designer for the better part of the last half century in the Greensboro area.
Yes, it's the same "kooky old lady" from the Hoarders episode lol and, initially she was the house's main proprietor and caretaker. Not only responsible for the years of disrepair and neglect that was so heavily featured on the popular reality show, but also for the first round of restorative work performed on the property.
Bringing the place back to it's former glory for the first time, when she made the purchase. Before eventually falling on hard times and unwittingly allowing it to become overgrown and obscured again herself.
All that being said, it's really Michael and Eric who are the real protagonists in this story. Just by virtue of the compassion and understanding they showed Sandra when it was time for them to take over the responsibility, as opposed to kicking her out in the cold with nothing to show for all her years of hard work and misfortune, like the typical modern-day real estate moguls might.
And, they definitely deserve every good thing that happens going forward in their lives. 👍😇

Hollywood is an empty soul that will exploit anyone for ratings and profit. They did nothing to help or resolve that woman's situation, all they did was antagonize her and create drama, and in the end she basically drove away with a truckload of junk and $14,000 from an auction company. I'll never watch that shitty show again after seeing that. The only good thing that came out of it was those guys did a wonderful job of getting the home restored.

I come from a family of hoarders, my sister being the worst. My sister had witnessed our maternal grandmother die right in front of her eyes when she was 13. Never dealing with my grandmothers death, she began hoarding old things that reminded her of our grandmother. She has sought help but still to this day hoards. She can’t help herself. Hoarding is an issue just like people that drink, do drugs etc.

It is truly mind boggling for me to understand what happened to Sandra in her mind to allow the hoard to become so large in this home. Watching the Hoarders episode was devastating and it didn't even touch the surface. This home deserves a two hour long special. The tours online don't do it justice and I can tell. It has never been fully shown to the public online. Sandra and the Designers Showcase clearly did so many tasteful and colorful updates to the home. I didn't realize that so much of the wood was actually meant to be painted. Wow. Just a labor of love this home has been. Structurally it has stayed so strong!

The story of this house is also the story of the lives of families. The house was originally owned by generations of the Price family, then given to the church who in turn sold it to Sandra and her husband. She had forty years to enjoy it before it was sold to young men who could give it the restoration that honors the work of so many great artisans who gave it birth almost 100 years ago. I hope that Sandra has found peace with the new life her former home has found.

These guys must be worth more than a few million. That aside, I saw the hoarding episode and these two guys are two of the sweetest, kindest, people. They were so patient with the previous owner. They were not obligated to do one thing to help her. They tried so hard, but she refused to accept that she no longer owned the home and even as they struggled to help her, she was plotting to undermine their taking ownership of the home. I don’t feel sorry for her when it comes to losing everything, because the two men gave her every opportunity to take her things. Her stubbornness was her downfall.

Yes they seem like sweet people but the truth is They(esp the owner, partner seemed truly hurt)never had any intention to move there with their daughters .Hes flipped homes before and he knew all along that he was going to turn into a bed and breakfast for a profit at a quarter of what the house was worth.so I feel like they were a little sneaky and really weren’t upfront and used the program hoarders to help them do it. It’s easy to be patient when you know what’s waiting at the end of the rainbow. It would really have been nice is if they would’ve helped her for truly help sake then the value of the home would’ve been restored she could’ve sold it made a profit and had her own place to live in a small place instead they truly didn’t help her with any of that and just divided their time till they got what they wanted.Apparently she owed 2 million ?they bought it for 415 ,000!so tell me how does that work?Shiesters.

Seriously? Name ONE person on the planet that would have cleared the house, restored it (with their own $$), and then GIVEN it back to the person that a) allowed it to fall into disrepair in the first place, b) owed more than what THEY bought it for, and c) had no intention of leaving. The foreclosure was 10 years in the making! The previous owner had issues that needed more help than a reality show could give her. $$ was never going to solve her problems. The universe placed this family in a position to save the house, something most of us could only dream of doing (and would do if given half the chance!). Good for them if they make $$- that reno couldn't have been cheap! And who cares what their intentions were? They put in the time, $$, and sweat-and involved the community! I'm just glad they saved it from becoming a tomb for the unfortunate soul that couldn't recover from her many setbacks. It's because of their generosity that she got to walk away with $14k from the sale of items by appraisers who were called in. I doubt the bank (or whoever held the note) would have done that!

If you haven't seen the episode of Hoarders featuring this house, please do, it's wild where it started off before Eric and Michael took possession of it. Overall an incredible restoration of such an important building. Preserving our heritage is important, and I hope this motivates others to realize the importance of it and act to save our history. Hat's off to you two, and those who they hired in aiding the restoration.

Because it is a historical building, the government will give the new owners grants to do a lot of the restorations. One just needs to know the right people to make the connections with.
