I hope we learn a bit more about Katniss's lineage. It will be interesting to see if there is a grown up Maude Ivory in this story and any other characters from the Covey. We know the Covey was disbanded at the conclusion of Ballad so it will be interesting to see if any of those characters make an appearance here. Also, while I love the cover of Ballad, I think this new one is just horrible. But I'm sure that whatever is behind the cover will be awesome as always. Thanks for the vid Peyton, looking forward to the next one. Until then, may the odds be ever in your favor. 🏹
I literally wrote my own version of Haymitch’s origin story a few years ago, and I tried really hard to send the whole 7 page synopsis to Suzanne Collins but had no luck😭 My version’s District 12 tributes were similar to Suzanne’s version (stuck up girl, younger sweet girl, and a talkative oddsmaker boy + haymitch). In my version, there are also a bunch of new interesting characters: the conflicted female game-maker who saw first hand what it’s like to live in the poorer districts when she went to district 8 for a research project during her young days, the abusive female escort who looks down on the tributes (think EVIL effy trinkett) , the mentor who becomes a father-figure for the four tributes, the menacing career tributes, how the game went, how the story will end, etc etc… Even though I have my own little image in my head of how the story of Haymitch should be told, I am still excited for Suzanne’s version. I know she will do right by us, the fans❤
Hey just so you know for future reference, authors don't wanna see your fanfiction, they don't wanna read fan content and theories, and if she had seen it, she couldn't have written this book. There's a lot of legal, copyright, and just issues authors may have if they interact with fan content so please don't send it to them or try to make them read it.
@Youtubingokur you're mistaken. Some authors love when people write fanfic of their stories, most literally don't care, the reason we can't show them has to do with legal copyright issues (someone claiming the author stole from their fanwork to make a sequel for example) and they can't risk accidentally stealing a fan's idea or if they had a similar idea they can't do it anymore and overall messes w their creativity. Fanfiction is in no way disrespectful and shouldn't be frowned upon, just don't show it to the author.
When they make the movie, they should definitely cast Kiefer Sutherland as Snow since it takes place 40 years after Songbird and Snakes. He'd be at the right age and looks like his dad Donald Sutherland.
I think my problem with the cover (other then the fact that it simply looks weird with the bird ending in a tube and those spikes that seem to serve no purpose other than to fill space) is how much it relies on the established iconography. My biggest gripe with Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes is how many callbacks it made to the original trilogy, like everything needed to be connected. I'm a little scared that this book will also go this route. How cool it would be to have a cover that stylistically fits the first three books but has imagery unique to Haymitch!
Happy to find someone else who was bothered with the many connections and callbacks to the trilogy. Whenever authors do that it comes out as if they felt like they HAD to do the fanservice but it cheapens the story imo.
@@g_n7777 For me it was having The Hanging Tree being written by Lucy Gray and getting the lore behind that. I really liked that it was a creepy little folk song with unknown origin.
I just realized the original trilogy covers all have multiple circles, not just 1… I wonder if after Haymitch’s Games each district got defined a little more with physical boundaries to stop potential rebel movement etc. I also have always wondered if there’s actually distance between the districts, which kind of now seems accurate when looking at the original trilogy covers. TBOSAS is the Capitol confined by the districts (which is how they felt at the time) & SOTR is the districts breaking out of the Capitol. I think I understand them now LOL.
The reason the first 3 covers are good is because the birds are still realistic. In the last two they're meant to look like metal but it needs finer details and more contrast
The cover is atrocious. I actually have no words. Perfect representation of that disappointed trumpet sound effect. Too bad 'cause I love the purple. Anyways I like the synopsis and the quote and I hope we get less fanservice this time 🙏
You're the only one I see being honest about the cover . Everyone's just saying it's fine and it's pretty lol. And same, I also hate this cover. Tbosas cover is better than this. And I think the stuck up girl might be Maysilee cuz it's said in catching fire that the other girl from12 was from the seam which makes her and Haymitch bond. And I think Haymitch will have some prejudice against Maysilee because of her coming from the merchant class that's why he thinks she's a stuck up.
I really hope he doesn’t. In the books having blonde hair was a marker of being a market worker’s kid, meaning a more comfortable life. This is why Peeta and Maisley are described to have it while the poor kids from the seam like Katniss, Gale, and Haymitch are described to have dark hair and grey eyes. By having a dark haired seam kid team up with a light haired market kid to survive the area, it would create a really cool parallel between Haymitch and Maisley and Katniss and Peeta as well as Snow and Lucy Gray.
@@rainbow_doglover8301true but what’s weird is that she agreed for the movie release before the book was even written which is weird. Before the story is done and fan reception is back they’ve already decided it’s gonna be a blockbuster movie and already making decisions on how to make profits. I love Suzanne but yeh you don’t just sign off on your book being a movie when you haven’t finished it or seen fan reception if you’re not thinking of the money:
@@davidfairweather3301I actually watched a video with Nina and Francis talking about Suzanne calling for tbosas. She called them up and had already read the book b4 announced. I think it’s the same with this. Besides we all knew we were getting a movie for tbosas so this one was kind of expected to have one
It’s better if she stays a mystery, the mystery of Lucy gray is what haunted snow for years and made Katniss going into the hunger games more impactful for him and therefore made her a figurehead for the rebellion.
@@xdaisy3408I completely agree, also if Lucy Gray was alive and in District 12 Snow definitely would’ve found her and killed her by the time Haymitch was born
no i agree, as soon as i heard "the most stuck up girl in town" i immediately thought that was going to be maysilee donner
The bird and snake are supposed to form a sun with rays in the middle like a sunrise. I love this cover

This got announced and I was just WAITING for Your video 😂
I just love your videos about the Hunger Games. Best reviews on UA-cam. ❤
5:35 Snow was 18 during 10th Hunger Games so he'll be 58, not too much of a daddy material haha

@melissajones__ did you post your story somewhere. Be cool to check it out.

I’m going to give it points for kind of matching with the OG covers and I like the purple. But. But but but. What I’m the world is that??? 🙈

I wonder if Maysilee & Haymitch are actually rivals coz they were the smartest 2 kids in the class & that’s why he thinks she’s stuck up LOL.
Don’t judge a book by it’s cover

So far this release feels like a cash grab more than an actual edition to the world. I'm anxious to see how it turns out
I'm not too worried about that. It's not really Suzanne Collins' style
