    Thank you! LOVE knowing the history of this rose variety. We have so many gorgeous hybrids today - thanks to the patience and dedication of plants experts all over the world.

      Absolutely true. We are very fortunate to have the benefit of all that historical breeding and selection. From old French and English hybrids to the best of the tried and true, to the latest triumphs, we have the advantage of all that talent and knowledge.
      And, I often think, that knowing a little bit about a plant's background helps us to better understand the conditions and best planting positions for their performance. With this one, we've noticed that is remarkably heat and sun tolerant, a major attribute for anyone with a summer vacation home or other summer, sun-drenched garden.

    Interesting background on this petite beauty! Knockout Roses do really well for us and we can get flowers from early spring until late November in Zone 5. We only wish they had some fragrance to them.

      Thanks. There's always something isn't there?
      As gardeners we are always looking for that extra little bit of something aren't we.... Too tall, too short, not fast enough growing, too fast growing etc. etc. And with roses the "Holy Grail" is good disease resistance, continual flowering, good shape, good color and the BIG one - fragrance!
      Oh, and I nearly forgot.... No thorns!
      We'll keep trialing.... and searching!
      Thanks for your kind comment

    I rescued one in poor condition from WalMart 2 summers ago for $5. It rebounded super fast and said thank you by blooming heavily until frost and it started right up this year. Always blooming and always healthy shiny foliage. Very beautiful. The only sad part is that there is zero fragrance and my nose is sad.

      @OverdevestNurseries  Рік тому +1

      It is a shame that you had to "rescue" your poor plant - obviously your intensive care worked!
      It is everything you describe which is probably why it recovered so well.
      As you may know, we send our plants out to the garden centers: grownbyoverdevest.com/retail-locator/ when they are coming into flower, which means that it is a great opportunity to sniff and select for fragrance even before you buy them.

    I have this due to our weather it wasn’t doing so well the second year so I trimmed it but now I only have 2 branches - due to trimming the others fell off. What do I do

      Sounds like perhaps there's something going on at its roots, in our production and gardens we have found it to be a good grower and as David mentions (and shows) in our video remarkably heat tolerant and normally hasn't been displaying any issues.
      Here's link to another video that will take your through our recommended planting procedure and the after care: ua-cam.com/video/BUAc7Ggyoxw/v-deo.html
      And if you get a moment, you might like to check out some of our other videos on roses too, where we show you how to prune, remove old flowers ("dead head") etc.
      Now in summer, try to make sure it is getting watered during any dry spells and hopefully, slowly you'll be able to nurse it back to being healthy and beautiful.
      It is a lovely, and normally easy to grow little selection, so good luck.
