Absolutely. So easy to take it for granted when it's done so well. Easily some of the best quality video, b-roll and production. All while building an amazing house. And don't forget all the other day to day family stuff that has to get done. Their days are a lot longer than mine.

I looked down to note the time because I thought the lines in that song "I'll be right there beside you" perfectly depicted Erin and Josh. I was shocked to see that I had already watched 24 minutes! Man, that is some kind of entertainment that keeps me so focused that over twenty minutes can just flat out vaporize! Great Job Guys!!

Go with black powder coated steel uprights, and handrails with stainless steel cabling between uprights for your fall protective barrier.

Erin, your videography/cinematography just keeps getting better and better. I'm enjoying the new tone, musically. Taking on this tremendous build of a house and a UA-cam channel(s) at the same time. You've figured out a way to film your build without slowing things down too much, in the field. If I want to shoot a DIY build, or demolition, or whatever, and it means it will take twice as long to film and do the thing together, then I'll just do the thing. But if it's easy and doesn't add a lot of time to the project, then I'll film it. How y'all manage this balance, continuing to build the house and your audience at the same time, while also improving along the way in both the film making and the home making, is impressive. You're providing excellent examples of what the human race can be.

Cable railing. Our house came with a deck that had 2x2 wood balusters and it looked like jail. Thought about it for a long time. Finally removed the balusters and top-rail (wood) and kept the 4x4 posts. Used 2" galvanized pipe between the posts as railing (both painted black). Cable on 3" spacing. Completely opened it up to nature, but safe and cost-effective. Best thing we ever did.

great work again guys! What a hugely successful day.
On to my suggestions of railings ;-) We used stainless steel, marine grade cable/braided wire - and our building code mandates a wire every 3"....... we used hardwood uprights, and top rail. I did this myself (made myself a marine ply guide with all holes and clamped to each upright to drill thru (long 4" metal grade drill bit)), and while it is pricey (with all the stainless end connectors being the most expensive components) the end result is that the wire/cable ends up being basically invisible. Lovely clean, simple and secure result. Make sure you keep the stainless steel braided wire certificate - as on one section there was an impurity in one braid that caused rust - the supplier replaced all wire and end stainless fittings!
Friends recently, in a higher wind area nearby used a metal system, and on higher wind days the railing vibrates and sings (not very tunefully ;-). We are only 1/2 mile from ocean, so rust is always a consideration for us. Good luck with whatever you decide to go with. Enjoy your energy as always. Cheers, from oz.

i know a little about video editing, and can really only say that most people can not even begin to imagine how many individual clips that are made from different perspectives come together here! and in the end with an incredible amount of work inserting and editing music - transitions - close up shots and small special effects such as the "flying" vegetables in the product placement, resulting in a 30min video of this quality. that requires more than just skill! And besides, of course, the actual work on the house and with the children and much more. my absolute respect and admiration guys! greets from Germany

Yep. Purchase black oxide stainless steel cabling and it will be almost invisible from inside or outside the house. Sort of like the backstop net used at major league baseball games.
You can purchase with pre-installed fittings or purchase a swager to attach the fittings.

I agree. Fortress black satin powder coat posts and cable rails. Occasionally have to retighten cables first few months. Relatively easy install

You can have a concrete deck with natural grass decoration. This will prevent from any water splash on the glass window during rain. Along with glass railings on the sides along with the stairs

“oopsie” is very standard trades-speak jargon. It’s fairly commonly used by surgeons and dentists as well. 👍
Love this channel - thank you so much for all the work to run it on top of all the homestead / build labor you do!!
    Awesome 😎😎😎

You should do planter boxes on both sides of the front deck as a guard rail. That way your beautiful view is lined with flowers on both sides!!

I have used flat upright metal panels that are drilled to accept 4 cables evenly spaced and tensioned and a round bannister rail 3inch diameter in a set on top of the steel uprights. The other option is to use a stainless steel oval hand rail. The idea being to compliment the house without interfering with the views. I am sure that what ever you decide it will be great. Congrats on the completion of your concrete pour. I told my friend who is a traditional dry stone wall builder here in the UK. He is always interested in how stonework is constructed in other countries. I am so enjoying your channels and look forward to seeing the next installment. stay safe J.

You need to make a "Josh" action figure with a front loader or tractor, some action machinery. Really! Kids love to play in the dirt and dig holes.

Hey guys, great episode. I'm a deck builder and the railing system we use the most is the Westbury powder coated aluminum railing system. Easy to install, looks great and lots of options for posts, balusters, and low voltage lighting.

I think you have to go with a combo of wrought iron and wood for the deck. I'd make sure to build in a grill station to one of the corners too.

On the deck build, I personally would go with pressure treated lumber for the structure stained the dark color of the house. Flooring would be the plastic stuff whatever it is that needs no maintenance. Railings would be so cool in black metal. It gives you the opportunity to put in floral welded metal patterns in between the beams for the main deck. You two are doing such an amazing job! Sidebar, it was cool to see the cat helping out with the rebar. LOL

Best site on YT. Everything in your videos are absolutely done to perfection . The only problem I have is that no matter the length it is always over to soon. Much better than watching the Hollywood trash movies. It is exciting to see your dreams coming true one step at a time. Two of the hardest working people on YT.

A cable railing system seems the best option for you. You might need a custom solution but it's almost seamless. Also, you can align the railing with the A-frame. It covers some space in this way, but it will match better with the rest of the house.
