Özge Solmaz I come to this song because of a SciFi story named Troika. In the story, an colossal god-like machine was sent back through time to warn humanity. The machine was piloted by an entity, which went mad because he could not die but the travel time was too long to bear. At the end, he was comforted by a music box, which also drove him over the edge. The box had been playing Troika, probably for thousand years long!

Russian folk songs have something magical about them that captivates people, russians and non russians alike. Eventhou I do not share the russian blood, I feel my self getting emotional to this song. Its an unique trait that the russian folk music has in my oppinion. It can make you feel joy and energy or make you sit down and get all misty eyed.
Russia, You are a land that has captivated me (and undoubtly manny others) but sadly mis understood by the world.

As a Turk, we have a complicated history with Russians, there is much cause for hatred and anger, but God is my witness I love their music, classical or folk. Full of the purest joy, sadness and pride. I can't bring myself therefore to hate such a nation which produced this noble music. I am glad we are neighbours and even thought we were enemies before and in the future might again be enemies, it it an honor to have such prideful people as your enemy.
