Sona Jobarteh - Kaira - LIVE at Afrikafestival Hertme 2018
Вставка
- Опубліковано 3 гру 2024
- Performance 8 July 2018.
Sona Jobarteh is the first female Kora virtuoso from a West African griot family. First in a tradition that is several centuries old, in which the Kora mastery was exclusively passed down from father to son. Since the release of her album 'Fasiya', she is justifiably praised, both as an instrumentalist and vocalist.
Live, she is accompanied by four musicians.
Sona Jobarteh: kora, vocals
Andi McLean: bass
Mouhamadou: Sarr percussion
Derek Johnson: guitar
Westley Joseph:drums
Africa has more to offer to the world than we can all imagine or much more than what some people would accept! Viva Africa!!!!! The world is Africa!!
Surely my brother!

Very true, there is a lot to offer to the world.
Love from 🇧🇷❤! My dear godfather LOU GOLD shared this precious video with me. He’s in heaven now and I’m listening with tears of love & gratitude. 🙏🙏🙏
Africa music stands unique nd speaks alot to the Africa🌍 irrespective of the country u come from in the continent.. Greetings from a Ghanaian 🇬🇭 in UAE 🇦🇪.
Welcome to UAE 🇦🇪
Super music
She is so beautiful and Very Talented. Love to all my African Brothers from El Salvador.
👍
Africa loves you Brother
Sona is beautiful for real!
I'm looking up and down the comments here and I'm starting to wonder if I'm the only white American who loves West African music and the virtuosity of West African musicians on the kora and calabash. My musical tastes are fairly eclectic anyway, having grown up with 60s pop, progressive rock, R&B, new wave, etc. But this stuff warms my soul. Sona Jobarteh is indeed a master on the kora, and to top if off she is SMOKIN' hot! The complete package of talent, intelligence, looks, and serenity of being. When my soul needs a boost I put on some Malian kora & calabash and just close my eyes and absorb it like a sponge.
If you want to expand your Kora and Harp horizon, look at Catrin Finch and Seckou Keita Try the video "Two Harps Beat As One".
Try this:ua-cam.com/video/NU-H2zg3_BM/v-deo.html
You're not the only white American that loves African "Afro-Pop" music. They used to play a lot of "Afro-Pop" music on PRI/Public radio International if Donald Trump and his GOP horde haven't forced them off the air. I used to listen to it on weekends on on the Internet.
@@chrisgordon5719 Yay! One in the win column!
You forgot to add, she's also modest
Hi Sona Jobarteh, you have opened my feelings for Africa through your music, I am emotionally touched by your voice and your performance, Gambia should be proud of you, and so am I from Norway, you make Africa much closer to Norway with your fantastic rhythmic music and voice, cheer on you 👍
with love from Zimbabwe. We are brothers and sisters if we learn to ignore these borders that were imposed upon us.

Sebastião Edson Macedo I agree with you for if he was going to he would have done so 1500 years ago
Stop waiting on god and let’s get to the rebuilding of our continent only Africans can restore Africa
@@thebridge5483 any way it's right to pray and ask to God or life or universe for África and their people. Our wishes will be a truth like these great musicians do. Blessings.
It looks like god abandoned Africa long time ago. I put my faith with the beautiful people of Africa and of the world to restore harmony on this planet. We are all one!

@@Jiulize Oscar No you are not the only one here who has ❤️ heart to listening this beautiful as Somali we love music but the last 30 years due to lack of government we lost our culture and music but still there a lot out there who keep the good things, imagine in Afgooye the famer dude playing Shareero/Kirar or the Camel man, Nomadic live with music what Heaven, I miss that part.

Big love and hug peacefully from Sudanese people 🇸🇩 to Gambians 🇬🇲 and their beautiful singer Sona
Sad our media only shows us Arabic songs and never introduce us to west africa music
This is AMAZING! Listen to the KORA, how soothing ; the drums, how they conduct the whole ensemble; the guitars, how they embellish and compliment the amazing voice. AFRICA at its best. Long live Sona. I am from Zimbabwe.
In the end we will find that we are all one big family ... different, colorful, warm ... what connects us is music, love and joy ... Sona and her band are ambassadors of this infinitely large human family who, with their music, remind us of who we are, where we are going and why we are here!
Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

Grazie di averci data l'opportunità di respirarvi.
We adore you dear SONA... warmest greets from banyarwanda folks!
I love her and her music, my Gambian home girl, greetings from Swiss,

It’s the only thing “we” people want. Nothing else, just “PEACE”… greetings from Bosnia and Herzegovina beautiful Sona ❤️🖤
Wow what a band amazing music That is the flashest kora i've ever seen Must be a gibson model Pure African magic
She is just a gifted musician and a great singer. And she has great musicians in her band! To us Germans African music might sometimes feel strange but it's so full of passion and love. Listening to that I wished I could be in Africa - seeing funny, happy faces making wonderful music. Back then we came as conquerors and robbers. We missed seeing what Africa really is. I just hope that all those wounds might heal sometime in the future. We are all the same on that lonely planet. - Greetings from Germany.
Much love Sona thank u for preserving the West African Heritage over the years..Nice Vibes💚
Mauritius will be proud if you give a concert to our beautiful country

This is what Africa is made of! Viva Sona! With love from Nairobi, Kenya
ONE LOVE...truly stunning performance. Seeing artists like this in perfect sync, feeding off each others love of music, life and humanity. Had the privilege of spending three months in Gambia in 1994 as student on placement in Brikama, Dobong and other wonderful places.
What a time that was...helped me realise deeply held beliefs that had little currency in the west but make perfect sense in a rural economy. Gambia made me so welcome, such natural people.
Picked up a significant drumming habit there and ended up making the same journey that those primal rhythms had made all the way to Cuba.
This is amazing. Bless all of you for this music.
So adorable
Totally enthralling on all levels . Masterful musicians - perfect performance. I can't get enough of this band. Love to you all.
Love from North Africa Algeria ❤❤❤

What amazing music, facial expression which penetrates your interior! God bless and our Africa! I am greatly proud to listen you dear artists!!
An uncrowned Queen of African melody. So fair of face, so radiant of soul, so graceful in composition, so wise in the assemblage of complementary artists to create a definition of musical symphony.
Such a beautiful talented woman, we love you jobarteh , keep singing!
Mind-blowing! Let peace spread through your golden voice and wonderful composition.
Brilliant magic. May Sona, her band and the tradition that created this live for ever.

This is unreal! It’s past my bed time but can’t stopped watching Sona Jobarteh’s videos. Thank you UA-cam.
Watch some of the videos by Catrin Finch, a Harp Player from Wales and the very well known Kora player she has collaborated with. I can't remember his name or spelling. Just search Catrin Finch Harp and/or Kora. One piece called "Two Harps beat as one" is especially good.
"AFRO POP is some of the best music around. It beats the crap out of Hip Hop.
