Just got into Stranded Deep after not playing it for a few years, I've been messing around with how I want my raft to be and this video gave great inspiration! Thanks for the great design, I think I'll try it... Once i get enough materials.
Hey my dude! thanks so much! to build this base took me maybe 30 hours haha if not 50 maybe! lol and thats a old video i have added a few new things, tried new boats and also got a shooting range on it now lol! thanks for the comment :)
**Console** Here is the answer to all your raft steering problems: I built an AIRCRAFT CARRIER where I store 10 crates (no container shelves on console) and my gyrocopter so I can literally pack it all and move from island to island. I have ZERO rutters, ZERO motors. Rutter is trash (especially the bigger you build it) and motors need fuel which is a pain in the cheeks-- not to mention I feel fuel is best used by the gyrocopter. All I have are sails on the back of the raft-- a sail on all 4 sides where I can stand in between them and activate the one or two I need according to my direction of travel. The raft goes in all directions needed by using sails alone. BAM! Make sure you have an anchor as well; ideally on the aft end where the sails are so you can also interact with it while still standing between all the sails.
Thats also extremely clever! i must say thanks for the tips! on pc we are at least fortunate that our steering works prety good, but it will always be better to sail backwards than turning around first haha, thanks for the tips, i appreciate it :):)
How are the sails arranged? Each at a corner? Are they all facing different directions or are they all pointing the same direction. Please tell. Sounds like a neat idea. I found if I had to transport a tire or drum that I could lay the object between my container shelves and then pull the object the direction I want to point my raft. Which is way more effective than the rudder. I am on PC just so you all know.
I made a video about it a few weeks ago of the sail pointing in all directions, then you dont have to use the rudder... Also just place them in the middle so it looks like a +
I've found that big rafts have a huge drawback, besides being difficult to steer. The larger my rafts got, the more time I was away from my base. Every time I returned after a large resource gathering trip, all my crops were dead despite even using corrugated farm plots. And once I got my base built, there was no longer any need for huge rafts. Potato farming became much more important to me. And so, small fast rafts were the way to go. I could get out quickly, gather some resources, and get back without damaging my potatoes. The big raft then became just a giant waste of space. In fact, most times, I never even filled up all the chests I had available to me on the big raft. Once you get farming plots set up, small and fast would be my recommendation. Maybe even a medium sized raft with storage space for the base build.
If you fall off, i hope you saved before the time because its a sad story 🤣🤣🤣 you can always try to place a anchor at the back so when you do fall off you can try pulling it down as last resort 🤷
I got one that is more diamond shaped... Mixed evenly with barrels buoys an tires an sticks... At it's widest it's 9 length is 10. It turns ok yet. I have the rudder more centralized... 2 motors one in the front an one at the back. 2 sails opposite direction facing.. so can go either way. 10 storage racks. An have space to land the gyro copter, an boars crabs an sharks... 4 lanterns those poles an a canopy...
I made a video in the past comparing them all... Results are the same... So its easier to get wood... So i just use that :) my OCD won't allow drums, and sticks and everything mixed lol
I too made a Gyrocopter Carrier raft, and was super excited about it. Problem is, go too fast on the open ocean, or get hit with a storm, and off it goes. And it's SO much trouble to get it back on the raft that the only thing left is to reload a previous save. I wish we could break down the Gyrocopter to its component parts and just crate it up for transport. But alas...
I'm building my raft on land, and it would APPEAR it IS weighed down in the base area... I'm trying to load up trunks to take back to my base. I'll have to test it in the water
Yoooo, I just finished building my first raft! It’s only a tiny square though lol. I’m gonna go to a shipwreck to see if I can get more materials then I’ll have a big raft! Awesome video dude! Super helpful! 👏
Also I have a question where should I put the anchor I don’t really care about symmetry but people have been putting them in the front and idk if it makes a difference
I'd advise against building a raft until you can get a hold of buoys, barrels or tyres, the wooden base takes up too much material and you should be able to loot the nearby shipwrecks without a raft either just swim or use the life-raft , you can also usually use the life-raft to get to one of the closer islands as long as you don't go during a storm, and in most cases you can gather enough material to make a basic raft just from the nearby shipwrecks on the first island, but 14 wood for a wooden base is way too expensive much better uses of wood early game.
could u help me out, i made a 3x3 raft with a rudder and sail and i stockpiled my crates into the middle part where ur meant to, but i have the crates locked in standing up, my rudder wont seem to steer at all when i try to sail idk if its cause of my crates positioning or what or the rudder positioning or even the sail which is right next to the rudder
Hey Dakota, your boat should be able to turn, are your containers standing on each other or are they laying next to each other? i did a video regarding this in the past but because i am pc i can turn, i know that console has a a bug regarding the turning, and will probably be fixed on the next update... :):) just try laying your crates down next to each other :):)
just 1 question,,, how do I open the console from a Mac lmao. cos i have to press 2 buttons to do the \ or the / and is not working. thanks a lot!!!!!!!
Help! I am having a hard time with my boat being super sensitive when it comes to steering with the motor. The slightest turn makes it go crazy and it doesn't move very smoothly. I'm playing on ps4 console. What can I do to make for easier steering??
Love the boat, could you make a roof to shelter from the sun that doubles up as a landing pad for the gyro free up more space, maybe to unstable.thanks for the vids, cheers
You can add custom islands with tons of recourses. I replaced all 5 of the surrounding islands w/ them. I'll be farming for weeks! If you got the game from Steam, adding island is as easy as clicking a button in the Steam game community. There are several how to videos on UA-cam.
Thank you so much haha, i actually dont save my game when making tutorials, just so that i have all the resources for the next video :) if it makes sense so that i can just start crafting new material straight away without going to loot :):)
Question, I play this on xbox 1, i want to play pc but were saving up, anyway, a lot of stuff I see you build like for the raft qnd such I dont have. Will i get them later or on is if only for pc?
Hi, i have some good news for you 👌 beam team did mention they are going to bring the console version up to date with the pc version, so both of them will then have the same things :) :) so i would reccomend just to remain patient for a little longer and after a few updates you can build what i can :) :)
I never boring see your awesome video, man you teach me everything i doesn't know in stranded deep thank you, keep up with your awesome work man, love from indonesia
if you look on my playlist called stranded deep bonus... you will notice I did a few experiments with all the different boat types... and no luck :( They represent the same speed and everything
The only difference in material is the clearance it have on the bottom of the raft. Barrels lie deeper in the water, tyres basically float on the surface meaning you have less problems with rocks at the shore if that makes any sense ;).
I'd advise using something other than sticks to build your raft, wood is far more valuable than the other buoyancy items, I mean there isn't really any need to craft a bobber or hobo stove and as far as I can tell tyres aren't used for any recipes other than rafts. Save your wood. You can usually get all the buoyance materials you need from the nearby shipwrecks so you can swim to them or use your liferaft as long as you are cautious.
Great video and sweet rafts you built! Thanks for the tips. How about a video about how rafts can be flipped over by sharks? Are small ones easier to flip than larger ones?
The Overclock ahh, ok cool. I guess that would have made for a short video eh? Lol. I had a hammerhead flip over my life raft in the pitch black darkness. I almost crapped myself. Thanks for the reply bro!
Lol no probs man haha yea the hammer heads is way to strong, when they added them they should of hsve made them less powerfull lol i think they are bugged or something
The Overclock really? That overpowered? Makes sense now. Every time I’d climb back onto my life raft, he’d flip it immediately. I’m actually scared to swim in the game now cuz of that shark in dark. Isn’t that an OZZY song? Shark in the dark! 🎶🎵
I have a big raft like this one and ya, the sharks wont tip you over in them but ruff seas will. And it's a bitch to get these big ones flipped back over, I can tell you that. I wonder if it's because of the recent patch shelf glitch though. My shelfs are hovering like 3 feet above the raft and I wonder if that makes it top heavy. Hopefully the devs will fix this glitch soon.
Does the size of the raft dimensions effect speed and fuel usage? New to the game on PC and was wondering if anyone knew this before I invest in building a big boi
no, the fuel consumption remains the same aswell as the speed, the only time speed is altered is when you drag things on the boat, such as sharks, small boars and etc, next to that you will be fine... the one thing that does get effected the most is the turning of the boat, the bigger the boat the longer the turning circle becomes, a lot of people just add 4 sails and use them instead of the ruddler
Would love to build something like that, but unfortunately, we seem to have been given the children's version on console. Just found out that on console, we can't even put crafting stations inside the house, they have to be on raw ground, meaning all we can put in the house are chairs, tables, shelves and sleeping bags. No point to even build a house. So to all the PC players complaining about console getting the end game first, please realize that the end game is the only benefit console got. Countless bugs, insanely limited options, half of the content and no update in sight. Be happy if you play this on PC, end game or not.
yes unfortunately console really has a bad realease, especially because they also dont have everything... i must agree that they should really get console up to date :):) also pc did get the end game on the last release :):)
@@TheOverclock alright my man! Thanks for responding . I figured it out now . Now i'm wondering how to stabilise the boat when a motor is added.. Have you made a video for that my man?
@@TheOverclock Good to know, thank you for the response! I was set back about 8 hours last night. Forgot to save and died to a giant eel that kept knocking me off my raft. i wanted to cry.
Great video man! I have a question for you. I love playing Stranded Deep. I'm on PS4 and done about all I can do. What's a good survival game on PS4 you would recommend. I tried The Forest but my nerves couldn't take it. Couldn't relax with cannibals. Thanks
Thanks a lot...!!! And i sgree the forest doesnt go easy on the heart lol... I would reccomend 7 days to die... Not the best game if you consider graphic but its pretty cool and it has a big community, a lot of crafting abilities aswell, a short run down its a zombie apocalypse so you need to fight zombies, atleast they are slow haha, and every 7th day you have a zombie horde coming so you have 7 days to set up a bace to help defend you and etc and it gets harder and harder, bit of a grindy game to be honnest
I would recommend the Long dark. Very relaxed walking trough the snow and a lot of things and places to explore. Hunt for rabbits or deer and even a bear if you turn that feature on. They have a new update since today. I would also like to try subnautica again, but that is a game totally under water and a lot crafting to do with a lot of ingredients you have to find. I say again because I quit playing when it took me too much time to understand it all and died every time 😩. Maybe if the Overclock starts to make tutorials I will survive one day...
Im looking to make a large easy to turn raft with a 2 story decent sized base plenty of walking room with an insane amount of storage while still being able to quickly move between my starter island and the three closest islands to the starter i used cartography to make custom islands for valuable resources abd such with every shipwreck added in
@@TheOverclock how bout putting a campfire and waterstill on a large raft that can be used while traveling across water to different islands because I've already ran into the issue that while I was at an Island away from my island with my base with the cookers and stuff until after it got dark ravaging the island filling up my storage on the raft and ran into issues regarding food and water on the islands have no intention on bulding on seeing that the island closest to the starter on the right side of the map is my home island that i made into a custom map any way to resolve these issues or do i need to make a faster raft to save a lot of time on travel between the islands
@@TheOverclock sry for like the long question/ statement im a newbie that just got stranded deep earlier this month via the free monthly ps plus games and have terrible night vision and am nearsighted so im asking these questions cause i do run into issues regarding food and water on islands i dont build stuff on and it gets pretty bad when it gets dark on game cause i cant find my home island very easy to try to get back and restore my food and beverage bars
No stress 😎 always willing to help out 👌 Here is my opinion... You have to arrange things as you go along... This is what i do... If i chop down a tree... I go place all the stick one one place and the palm fronts on a other place, i keep them grouped up... In that way its easier to navigate around and find what you want at night... Then also i recommend building a shelter on the island you just arrived on... The shelter is shaped like a triangle so make the one part of the triangle point towards the island you just came from... So you can save when ever you want, sleep till it is day time and also have a bunch of coconuts to eat and drink... Also take note that the water always goes from north to south... So when ever your in doubt... Just look at the water current before leaving your island so that you know the direction you went your on your new island
I'm so stupid I didn't realise you could make them bigger than 1 base piece. 😂 I been on a piece of metal with a sail stuck on it flipping over every 30 seconds
@@TheOverclock 😂 I was thinking this is well hard. Proper mission to even get to an island. I swam to one once ahaha. I dunno how a shark didn't get me
@@MozAndI in the beginning i did use the rubber raft to ship barrels to my main island to build a raft. On the pc there is still the chest bug. wen you looting chest dont directly open them but save first if you open the chest and you dont like the items then reload the game
As soon as you skin them the meat will go spoiled unless i smoke them... But also i want one of each shark just laying there as a informative thing for people to see... Maybe some people didn't know that there is goblin sharks in the game :)
@@TheOverclock Yeah, I've lost my compass because this game likes to auto-drop items when you do certain actions. Do you know if there are more compasses to find somewhere?
Yes there is, just look in crates :) also a easy tip, the ocean waves always travels from north to south, so just look which way its coming from the you know thats north :)

How big is the raft?
You only need 2 sails, once facing forward and one back, then use the rudder to compensate the other two directions by moving diagonal with the wind.
How are the sails arranged? Each at a corner? Are they all facing different directions or are they all pointing the same direction. Please tell. Sounds like a neat idea. no, the fuel consumption remains the same aswell as the speed, the only time speed is altered is when you drag things on the boat, such as sharks, small boars and etc, next to that you will be fine... the one thing that does get effected the most is the turning of the boat, the bigger the boat the longer the turning circle becomes, a lot of people just add 4 sails and use them instead of the ruddler
I can't seem to put things into crates. Can someone help with this? PS4 Version
You have to open the crate, click on the bag and then click what you want to place inside of it :)
@@TheOverclock I'll give it a go. It obviously had to be something so simple 😜
@@SpeedyHercules hi, you have to use L1 to open things.
Those rafts look amazing ! How do you even get the small rafts to connect with each other?
I made a video on how to do it... Do it in the ocean or on a rock where its off the ground :)
@@TheOverclock alright my man! Thanks for responding . I figured it out now . Now i'm wondering how to stabilise the boat when a motor is added.. Have you made a video for that my man?
If you are on console it has a small bug where the boat motor is a bit trashy with stability 🤦♂️
Does have two sails make you go faster?
Unfortunetly not :( i made a speed test video before, 1 sail vs 3 sails vs raft motor :)
@@TheOverclock Good to know, thank you for the response! I was set back about 8 hours last night. Forgot to save and died to a giant eel that kept knocking me off my raft. i wanted to cry.
Thank you for another good video!😁
thanks for your great support! i really do appreciate it :):) and always trying to help out :):)
3:22 is where you see the raft. Hope I helped😂
Lol thanks 🙆♂️🤣
1:23 - Your design is flawed. You can put the steering in the middle and overlap it with the motor engine and both will work.
Thanks man 😎💪
Great video man!
@@TheOverclock Thanks man I appreciate it!
One of my favorite games of all time is Dont Starve
You should have the glitch flying boat
I should so try it out 🥳 thanks man
Amazing video that’s a sub from me
Whoooooo thank you haha :)
Im looking to make a large easy to turn raft with a 2 story decent sized base plenty of walking room with an insane amount of storage while still being able to quickly move between my starter island and the three closest islands to the starter i used cartography to make custom islands for valuable resources abd such with every shipwreck added in
Unfortunately you can't make a double story boat 🤦😭 so this leaves you with a big boat if you want to have a lot of storage for it
@@TheOverclock how bout putting a campfire and waterstill on a large raft that can be used while traveling across water to different islands because I've already ran into the issue that while I was at an Island away from my island with my base with the cookers and stuff until after it got dark ravaging the island filling up my storage on the raft and ran into issues regarding food and water on the islands have no intention on bulding on seeing that the island closest to the starter on the right side of the map is my home island that i made into a custom map any way to resolve these issues or do i need to make a faster raft to save a lot of time on travel between the islands
No stress 😎 always willing to help out 👌
Here is my opinion...
I gotta get some shelves I built a 3x3 raft with the middle tile being just the float with no floor and I stick 7 containers in it on there sides
That's awesome! But if your boat tips or a wave hits it wrong... Its going to be a sad day 😭 invest in some container shelves asap :)
I just save before every sail lol I've knocked em off pulling up on shore and they are soooo hard to get back on right!
I love your videos my friend but i think you need a couple more "rudlers" on that boat. JK. Keep the laughs coming!
lol i can add but 5 is max 😂😎😂😎😂😎😂 lol thanks so much for the great support i appreciate it :):)
"Rudlers" 🤣🤣 everytime he said it i wasnt sure what he meant 🤣
Lol the first time i Read it I just read it to fast and got it wrong 🤣 now its printed in my head as a Ruddler lol
I'm so stupid I didn't realise you could make them bigger than 1 base piece. 😂 I been on a piece of metal with a sail stuck on it flipping over every 30 seconds
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 noooooooo freaking way lol it is probably a nightmare for you to go to a different island 🤣🤦
Cool idea, but your Ruddlers kill me. It's rudder no L.
Sorry 🤣 i have no idea where the L came from... I even use it till today 🤣
It won't let me place a boat
Make sure you do it with the boat in the water or with the on side of the side laying on the rock... It should not touch the ground :)
Why you sound like Chris fix
Because i am his dad 😎
I have no patience for this damn game
Why 🤣
Why dont you just skin the sharks/boars then put them incontainers rather than putting them on your boat?
As soon as you skin them the meat will go spoiled unless i smoke them... But also i want one of each shark just laying there as a informative thing for people to see... Maybe some people didn't know that there is goblin sharks in the game :)
@@TheOverclock Okay thanks
You trying to be pirate of the Caribbean or something lol
what do you meaaaaaan lol i made the pirate of the Caribbeans haha 😎😂😂😂😂😂
If only you could put shelf’s on your raft on console
You can't? That is weird
@@TheOverclock I know you probably won't respond but I've been playing for 3 years and I could on console
Ohhhh yea, see now you can but back then it was not available yet
@@TheOverclock in 2021 I could
Donni?
I dont understand?
Cries in console
No don't cry 😭🤣
IDK what happened I deleted this game and reinstalled it and I got the shelves and the canvas
Maybe there was just an update or the game needed a new game to enable all the new stuff :)
Meanwhile, I'm trying to light my first camp fire...
LOL Don't stress you will master this game in no time :)
@@TheOverclock Thanks. Im gonna beat up some megeladons and stuff, to reach the worst game ending ever. Cheers🍻
@@Alpaslann hi! If you use the compass during the game you wont get a trophy
And first to like
Well done and thank you ☺️👌
Does anyone want to play I’m on ps4
Lets hope you get a buddy :)
Whoever designed the raft mechanics for this game has every reason to be ashamed of themselves. Klunky and clumsy. Ruins the entire game.
Lol 🤣💪 Couldn't agree more lol
The boat we should have but not a bit of the video tells us how to make it
I mean... You can see the boat 🤷 its not rocket science... 🤷
@@TheOverclock Sure you can see the boat. You can also see a stop sign at a corner. Doesn't explain the process of making it
heh ruddler
I know... i know 🤣
I’m first
NICE my DUDE! Well done 👌😎
