I had an FM9. I sold it because I hated the work flow. It sounded great, but an awful UI. I have QC and Helix and Kemper. I’m really liking the TMP. It sounds great and is dead simple to use. Your opinion is quite popular. But I totally do not agree. The analog world seems simple because the sound of a real amp is already ready, you don't need to do much to use it. The digital world is a representation of the analog world according to mathematical models. Trying to simplify it means imposing choices and making them work well. Since technology at the moment is still approximate, an imposed choice may be that it suits us but maybe not for some. Having the possibility to intervene on the manufacturer's predefined choices can only be an added value.
My money (if i had any to get gear like this 😆) would go to the Fractal for sure! Its definitely a more mature platform, and with the additional effects and chain flexibility makes it way more appealing. Im sure fender will come out with updates to get it up to par there, but even then, i still trust the Fractals maturity and proven performance. Thanks for the great video as always Leo!
I purchased the TMP and use it mostly at home. It's extremely simple to program the presets, you don't even need the manual, I play with it by sending music via Bluetooth and just concentrate on playing. The sounds are quite nice, especially the Fenders of course. We consider that the other Fractal and Neural type machines have been on the market for years now, so the TMP will certainly have future improvements (we hope!).
I always enjoy the thoroughness of you demos and insightful opinions. An easy UI has a lot to do with how useful any piece of gear is going to be. The TMP large touch screen is nice but maybe not as useful as one might imagine. Rotary encoder Stomp buttons will probably become standard on new Modelers, as they are a good feature. Surprisingly, I still like my HX Stomp interface, HX Edit, and Helix Native, all for $550 US from a few years ago! Thanks
Thank you, I'm really happy that you appreciate the videos!!! Line 6 has done a lot of FW upgrades...maintaining their platform updated...it's really a great pro for their units.... Thanks!
Same here, you actually don't need to invest more money at the moment. The FM3 is nice, for sure, but at least for me as a producing musician not worth the extra 1.000 dollars. I invest them in a new guitar / bass.
A funny point that actually can be serious especially for people playing live. My cat ate last week the power supply of my GT 1000 and it takes time to purchase a new one. So a very big plus to the Fender as you can find a "PC" cable much easier at any time and place. And Leo. I wish I will see more guitar lessons coming from you. Keep on educating us and entertaining us as you do. As always, well done to the video!
Thank you so much,,,,funny story even I imagine the hassle.. I would like to do more training video....unfortunately the time is missing....I will see what I can do. Thank you!
Sold my FM3 and got a TMP and no regrets!! Much better user interface face on the TMP. The FM3 may have the better sounding stock presets but a simple tweak to taste on the TMP and I get better tones than I did on my FM3! I always enjoyed my FM3 but the menu diving and formatting took time away from my playing. A lot of the features were great too but were almost overwhelming how many there were. The TMP is just the perfect amount of settings I feel to get the job done and ultimately enjoy playing! I got mine mostly for quiet play once the babies and wife are asleep! Love it! This is a great review of the two units! Much appreciated Leo!! It helped me greatly when making the switch!
Thank you so much, I'm really happy that you appreciate the video!!! Yes, I totally understand your point of you....I also find the user interface of the FM3 pretty confuses and hard to remember....where the app is great. Thanks!
surprised how far off the TMP was on the Marshall amp JCM 800 & your saying also with the Plexi - I have not pulled the trigger on a modeler as of yet hopefully Fractal will have touch screens on the next versions - If Fender gets on the ball adds more amps & effects and the capture feature that would be game changing - Great demo Leo
Great review as always! The one that has seamless preset changes will be the one for me. Programmable FX units were designed for that in the first place, to change multiple fx at once. If there’s a silent gap when you change a preset or it’s slow, no matter how expensive or good it sounds, to me it’s a toy for home use or recording. The scenes and on/off fx thing is a bonus. My opinion.
Worth pointing out that Fractal just brought gapless switching to the Axe FX-III and the team have said they expect to be able to bring it to the FM9 and FM3 also.
I was wondering if Fender Tone Master Pro is better than my new FM9. And now, this confirmed, my decision that I bought my FM9 last month is very worthy and it's still better than the new Tone Master Pro. Now I know...I'll rest and then go back to enjoy my toy. Lol.
I think its clear now that Fractal has the best and more professional sounds and the TMP has the perfect UI. If Fractal develops their UI into something like the TMP it will be unbeatable.
I will probably always stay with fractal. Besides the freedom and tweakbility, it is the fully customizeble Footswitches that I dont want to give away ever again. No unit comes even close.
Thanks for another great video. Fractal's JCM 800 obliterates Fender's. I guess that for modelers, Fractal is the way to go if you have the money. The only problem I see with the FM3 is that, despite its great sound quality, it seems limited in process power, at least from some demonstrations I've seen. A normal rig will sound fantastic, but if you want to get "creative", the DSP limit will certainly hit you.
Hi you are welcome! Thank you for sharing your findings! Yes, that could be true...even if, of course for my use case, the DSP is fine...but I don't typically use many effects. I have the regular FM3 and not the turbo that has more processing power...even if not so much...
You are doing the best comparisons, thanx for that - really helpful! I have the FM3 for testing right here - the sounds and possibilities are great, but the UI would have looked outdated even at times Windows XP died many years ago. I really cannot understand, why Fractal doesn`t put any effort in updating their UI. Maybe I am just too old (64), and maybe my approach is outdated - but I don't want to use my Macbook everytime when I want to play (and tweak) my rigs. On the other side, sometimes I feel young again ;) and maybe too young - because at these times I cannot use my iPhone or a touchscreen with the FM3. So for what kind of plyer is Fractal working? Who are these players in between oldschool amp usage and fiddling around with knobs and modern age touchscreen users?
Thanks for this comparison! While I am nerdy, when it comes to making music, I don’t really want to dive into Fractal-level depths. I think the more limited options of the Tone Master Pro are part of what makes it attractive to me. In fact, I’m really going to be on the look out for even more limited (and more affordable) products in the Tone Master line. I do think the internal routing options of the TMP are unfortunate, though. Flexibility there wouldn’t really make it significantly more complex.
Interesting. At the end of the day which ever inspires you to play and create will win me. I owned a AX8 sounded great but I would fail into option paralysis 😅. The Fender looks to be more tweak as you play friendly, definitely will be trying one.
Unlike some comments, I believe the Fractal complexity and UI is a positive and is it gives more freedom to effectively create your own amp. Similarly the fx are more like old lexicon/eventide rack units again a major positive for me. I do agree though that pricing in Europe and UK for Fractal is unacceptable.
Great demo song. Agree with most, if not all of your opinions. Tone is a win for Fractal. Ease of use goes to the Fender. Features and tones matter most to me. God bless and rock on 🎸😎👍
Great video my friend!! I love your accent! 😂 Having owned FA units before i agree they offer a lot more specially when used in studio etc , however for easier usability in a live environment I've decided to go with the FTPM. Rock on
Note that while Fractal does model the taper of most amp controls, they do not model the taper of the master volume and instead offer an idealized master volume taper. As such, simply setting the volume on an amp in the exact same spot as the model will yield different results.
Cliff Chase hates the way that most master volume controls on guitar amps have the majority of their usable range in the first 1/3 of the potentiometer so he prefers to model the amps with a linear master volume control. The amp set to max volume should behave the same as the model set to maximum volume.@@LeoGibsonGtr
Pro guitarist for @Musiversal here, Thanks for that great vid ! I can't make my mind between purchasing a TMP or FM9...please help me. I search depth and realism with possibilities to tweak sounds...!
Thank you, I'm happy that you appreciate the video! Well, if you like tweaking the amp, the FM3 is kind of the paradise of the NERDS. You can deeply customise your amp....for instance you can choose the impedance curve or also the mic pre used....
Brindo a Leo e al futuro user friendly e more rack based 👍🤟
Hi Leo thank you for the Video buttttt we can`t compare gears especially different brands because Fractal, kemper.Quad Cortez,Line 6 and Master pro are way different units they all sound great and to be honest. maybe a particular one is not your thing but to some else is what they need i own Kemper, Fractal and the Fender pro master and to me they all are amazing. If it sounds good to your ears then thats the unit you need thank you
The TMP is the iModeler. If you do not like to deep dive and have access to all the parameters of the Fractal systems then it is understandable that you would gravitate towards the easier option.. however... Just for example.. I can take a Hipower amp in the fractal, swap out the tone stack with a Marshall JTM45, adjust the Bias, the voltage, the sag and get an amp that is amazingly close to a real JTM45 in the room with all the touch and feel of a real amp. There really is no competition to Fractal in the actual physical modelling category.. That does not mean it is for everyone. Some people want to capture real amps... I hear the QC is amazing for that, some people want to turn it on and treat it like a real rig.. place your effects, choose an amp and play... but after learning enough about the Fractal units to use the UI quickly I would not want anything else. Get what inspires you and enjoy it today.
I found the comparison of the dynamic range to me most revealing here. Listen to the way that notes decay on the two modelers compared to the amp. On the Fender TMP I hear a white noise like static sound come in as the notes decay. I don't hear that on the amp or on the FM3 model. It sounds like the noise gate on the Tone Master Pro is engaging too early and choking out the note decay.
Touch screens seem gimmicky to me. The depth and breadth of features within the Fractal ecosystem are unmatched. It's a very mature software, paired with a top notch software editor. The chassis and components are also rugged and roadworthy (IEC power anyone?). But with great power come a (somewhat) steep learning curve. People these days often can't be bothered to read a manual or commit any effort to learning a new piece of gear. That's ok too, it's never going to be a one size fits all solution. I would say that we live in a golden age of guitar gear, and that most products can be made to sound great. That said, I don't think you can necessarily deem something 'pro' based on sound alone. I can use a simple plugin in Reaper and sound great, and no one would know its not a 'real' amp... or tube... or hand wired... etc etc. The 'pro' qualities in a unit lie in its build quality, ruggedness, and feature set, not necessarily how easy it is to use. Pros will take the time to learn it, or have a tech that learns it. Besides, just because a unit like Fractal has several pages of amp parameters doesn't mean people need to dick with them. Just stick to the factory presets (which are awesome) until you learn.
Yes, this is something I would really like to do...I actually have a full album complete....even if it is not what you would probably expect from me...as it is with voice :) ... but I'm still not happy with mixing and mastering...and with some voice and guitar parts...you know an album requires so much time!!!
Thank you so much, I'm really happy that you appreciate the songs: it means a lot to me!!!! Thank you also for your suggestion...I will think about it!!!!
Hello Leo thanks for your amazing videos, from your feeling do you think the TMP sound and feel as good as fractal ? i mean the aliasing for exemple , the reverb algorythm, OK fractal have more amp and tweaking but Tmp have blutooth for just plug and play with a backing track in 2min,to play guitar fast and not tweak everyday more important ? thank you
Thank you, I'm really happy that you like the video! NAM is based on profiling and FM3 on modelling...I don't know if it is a pair comparison....I will think about it. Thank you for your suggestion!
You are welcome! I've check out the user manual and the manual with the list of effects: I was not able to find a reference to the auto wah...: if someone knows, please drop here a message. Thanks!
For a professional, Fractal Products are undoubtedly preferable precisely because of the enormous possibility they offer to customize and create unique and original sounds. It is their added value compared to all the competition. Obviously they are not products for amateurs.
Fractal sounds fantastic, but their user interface is way too complicated for me to use on an everyday basis, and the screen on the device is too small for me. However, I wouldn’t buy the Fender yet. They need a lot more updates. As of right now, I would go with QC if I needed an all in one pedal unit.
Who could possibly need 300 amps?! It's impressive but surely three or four quality sounds is all anybody needs in reality? Each to their own but that's obsessive stuff and probably more geared towards home players. That many options is crippling, shouldn't we all be concentrating on playing music?
Thank you for sharing! One more consideration could be: maybe one player does not need all those amps...but the unit should have a list of amps that should be ok for many different guitarists and each of them could have his own preferences and his own amp of choice...one guitarist may like a Marshall, another one a Fender, another one a VOX, etc etc....
@LeoGibsonGtr that's a fair point. But it's kinda comparable to TV these days, all these channels and nothing on! I remember the Mk4 Boogie coming out and then the Triaxis. People were overwhelmed and still are to this day by those products. Inevitably you ended up endlessly tweaking rather than playing music. A well known guitar player once said, gear is "music avoidance", I think there's a valuable lesson in there for all of us.
A used FM can be found for $900 so nearly half that of the FTMP. Only the Ping Pong sounded better on the Fender. For the money, FM3. Same prices, easily get a FM9- now $100 discounted. Like the UI on the Fender but that is about it. Might grab one once the price dips below $500 used at GC. It won't be long.
@@gdawgs101 For the Fender. That is all it is worth. You can get a FM 3 For under a grand. FM9 is still too new. Mine was $1845. I did not like the UI so I sold it...for $1845. They are in demand. I waited a year to get mine on the waitlist.
Hey Leo! Great video as always. I have, probably like many who watched this video, watched dozens of videos on the TMP over the last month. Regardless of what the video presenter says about them, all of them have given me the same impression: the Fender and EVH models are outstanding, and the models named after non-Fender owned products are not. Mind you, I do not actually care if something is "authentic" - I don't have a Marshall Plexi or a Mesa Dual Rectifier sitting here, so what does it matter to me if it sounds exactly like a Marshall Plexi or a Mesa Dual Rectifier? I do care if I like the tone, though. I own a Fractal Axe FX, and I love the Marshall and Mesa tones it produces. When I hear UA-camrs demo Fender tones from the TMP they sound great, and when they demo other things they sound less great. It's as simple as that. I think that Fender really just views the TMP as a modeler for people to buy into the Fender brand, and those other models are just numbers on a spreadsheet so that it doesn't look like they're selling an underpowered product. With a Deluxe Reverb, a Bassman, and an EVH you could already cover almost every tone you would ever realistically need in a cover band. Have you tried the Tone Master FR-10 or FR-12 powered cabinet, though? As mentioned, I have an Axe FX, and also a Boss GT-1000 CORE for something easily portable. I bought a Tone Master FR-12 to use as a powered cabinet, and it is easily the best modeling tone upgrade I've purchased in years. I had been using a PA speaker, or plugging directly into my audio interface, and the FR-12 was like buying an entirely new set of amplifiers. Better bass response, better treble response, just better clarity across the entire frequency spectrum. My only complaint about the FR-12 is that it is shockingly, brutally loud. The manual claims that it has a maximum sound pressure of 130 db. 130 db! Who needs that kind of volume level?
Hi, thank you so much, I'm really happy that you like the video!!! Yes, I see the point...if it sounds good... who cares if it sounds like the real deal? Of course, I respect your point of you, but as a Marshall lover myself...if I buy a 1900 euros modeller...I honestly expect to have something that sound like a Marshall...This Fender Marshal amps....are kind of "inspired" by the real deal.... As regards the FRFR speaker, unfortunately I have not tried the FR 12....I would really like to test them out...but I don't think Fender will ever send me anything to try ...ah ah ah... Thank you so much!!
does the fm3 or fm9 have a battery inside it like the tonemaster , its one similar to the one that goes in a garmin , god knows how your supposed to know when its dead or leaking etc.
Fractal sounds closer to the real amp but then again the boss GT 1000 sounds as good for 1/3 of the price and never gets any love I would get a Headrush it would be better value than the Fender with its similar touch screen
Thank you, really appreciated! No, I think that the FM9 has a more powerful processor....for instance it allows to load a chain with a double amp block, which shouldn't be possible in the FM3 Thank you!
FM9 Turbo has twice the DSP. FM9 reserves DSP for many CPU heavy blocks like Amp and Reverb so you can use two Amp blocks and ultra quality reverb with no increase to CPU meter. Ultra quality reverb eats a ton of CPU on the FM3.
I agree and have both at the moment (FM9 actually). More real is exactly what I hear and feels more immediate under my fingers. Of course everyone has their own preferences and what sounds best to them.
I like the sounds of the Fractal, way better than the Tone Master Pro. But I would say it is easier to learn to set up presets on the Fender. On the factual there is a huge learning curve. I think with the Fender you spend more time playing and less time tweaking. I would choose the Fractal. Thank you.
the question is how many hours do you have to waste learning it? and then throwing it all away because the new version arrived or constantly waiting for the next update. tubes can't be captured! they are wild and weird and we like it.
I like to plug and play. Tweaking and searching sounds issnt for me. I just want to put a sound and start playing. With my helix i was also way to bussy tweaking. Now i use a tube amp with some pedals. Turn it on and just play. I would like purchece the Tone master. But for me , a bedroom player its a overkill i geuss. For now i stay with my tube and pedals.
I think , eventually the tweaking becomes less once your desired sound is achieved.I have found this with my Helix.Especially after the recent updates but I understand the frustration with earlier versions.
I bougth some ua pedals. They sound great. But its limited. I mean. 1 preset per pedal. It doesnt satisfy me . I olay at home and want to play some cover songs. Been checken fm3 sounds and presets. They sounded really good. The fm9 can duel amp and duel cap. That lacks in the fm3. But i like to plug and play. So the fm3 is good for me i geuss. Its smaller and cheaper and fits on my desk. I can download some presets and play. I think you need to gros on modelers. When i had the helix i did not understand what everything was. Now 2 years further i understand it much more. I tried the headrush core. Presets where not my thing. You can buy presets ofcourse. But lacks a computer app. It has the practise mode. But dont know how often you would use that. I want pro sounds even tho i am not a good player. I found many yt channels for the fractal that show you how to make cover presets. In that way you learn how the app works. Hard to make decissions. But atm iam leaning to fractal. Since many pro player use it. If the fm9 was priced the same as in dollars i would choose that one.
The Tonemaster deluxe tone was very good, as was the FM3. I was suprised how poor the Marshall 800 was from Fender!. Seems they haven't learnt much in the 10 years from the mustang floor in respect of tone 😐
Fractal sink or swim with their units. For Fender their unit is just one of hundreds of products. Fender have a bad reputation of ignoring products that have problems or poor sales. They not only have dropped products quickly but offer poor support when they hadn't but zero support if the drop a product. Buyers could end up with a product that falls behind or prematurely is replaced and so is dropped. In short a product with very, very poor resale value. The thing with all modellers is that they are just a computer that relies more on great software than anything else. Soon like the movie industry one will buy a military grade computer and a simple footswitch controller and not a specialized music computer like we have now. An industry standard will be agreed on and there will be endless choice of sounds as startup costs for software only companies negligible. It has to happen it is embarrassingly overdue. The modern recording industry uses consumer computers. The only argument about using standard computers is robustness. It is a nonstater with military grade units which are a hundred time more reliable than any gear made for Rock bands. Add to that they are not overly pricey nor do they become redutant quickly. The computing power required for modeling is not excessive.
Fender has the better all in all unit as such, but has to improve the amp algorithms. Easy, right😂? I'm sure they will in the next fw updates if you just look how incredibly good the Helix developed over the years, for example. Fractal excuses the complexity in handling and in the UI with it being a pro piece of gear. This is such a weak excuse that only real fanboys swallow. The oppositite is the case, imo. Look at apple products, for example, even if you cannot compare Computers to musical grar - but then again you can, if you look at how guitar sound is dialedin in the digital world. Pro AND easy to use. Or just look at TM, Helix all the other units ease of use. Other than that: the TM tone leaves room for improvement, in comparison, I would say.
Yes, I really hope in constant firmware upgrades from fender, like the ones done by Fractal or Line 6 or Boss. The Fender hardware seems good, but sw there is space for improvements in my opinion, both in terms of amps sound and some choice related to the user interface...I don't really understand those 12 fixed signal chains....maybe they allow for better performances...but in terms of usability and possibilities...I think they can be improved. Thanks!
FRACTAL smokes the tmp....its funny on the gear page how everyone is asking for all these amps that are in the fractal..lol...good luck as fender isnt know for updates and they drop tech withing a year or 2.
Tone Master PRO : 1700 $ USA 1700 € EU - FRACTAL FM9 TURBO : 1700 $ USA 2400 € EU. ? Fractal and Fender are two American companies, which sell their products in the USA at the same price. It means that an FM9 is worth as much as a Tone Master PRO. Why in Europe should we accept a 50% price increase for FRACTAL? Surcharge that Fender doesn't apply?
Real is still a lot more pleasing to listen to… maybe we need a breakthrough tech in modeling and not only the same algorithms from 10 years ago with little tweak there and there… Amp capture with neural network give a better result but still lacks of the push.
FM3 ==> Beter tones. Bad onboard UI. Decent PC app. TMP ==> Best onboard UI. Awful Marshall/Brit tones. Currently, there is not enough there for me to migrate from the FM3 to the TMP.
😀...do you know when it will be released? I have notice that Line 6 has just release the HX one...which is funny considering that we are waiting for the Helix two....😀
@@LeoGibsonGtr Personally I'd not mind if Fender would stick to their own amps and model only those but that exceptionally well. Fender coming up with Marshall, Vox or Revv models I find somewhat strange. BTW - solid video once again.
Gapless switching and UI are strong benefits of the TMP. I've nether taken my FM3 to a live gig. Just too complicated to tweak in the heat of battle. The Fractal user interface is dismal, as Mr. Shull put it and rightly so.
@@friedmojo I don't think I'd want to tweak ANY modeller live ! Fair point about gapless switching (how about a rack containing several FM3's all connected to a pro switching unit ? Hmmm, perhaps not......) but I find that using scenes rather than presets removes any delay (plus using the latest firmware- ve 7, not letting cpu usage go above 70%, and turning off the button hold function - ie the unit switches on contact and not release.
HEADPHONE Out....HEADPHONE Out....HEADPHONE Out. Is anyone going to mention this? I will....I have the FM3 and the Tone Master Pro. I've got to max settings (or near max) on the TMP to hear it well with my headphones . Sounds OK with Beyerdynamic DT900 pro and not loud enough with Sennheiser HD650. FM3 sounds terrific with both....50% setting with Beyerdynamic and 75% with Sennheiser HD650. The TMP will go back. The FM3 stays and its much better appreciated!
The problem is that certain headphones will need an amplifier with this unit. I have cheaper headphones with low impedance that I hear well...but not near the quality of sound that should be expected. I'll need an amp to drive 300 ohm headphones using TMP, not on helix or fractal. And no, I'm not hard of hearing. I've used modelers for years since Fractal and Kemper products were introduced. @@NS-tc9kk
We have to save trees...😀 Anyway, here you can find a great source of info as regards Fractal amp list: wiki.fractalaudio.com/wiki/index.php?title=Amplifier_models_list Thank you!

It’s just my opinion based on my real life experience with all the modelers. You can feel free to disagree.
I'll take the ease of use and UI of the TMP with the hope that Fender will have amazing updates coming.
Thank you! Yes, I hope firmware upgrades and improvements will come too!!!
Love Leo's dedication. Having a special demo song for every device comprising with each having awesome originality❤

As usual, an excellent video! Thank you very much for your great work, Leo!
You are welcome and I'm really happy that you like the video!!!
Another great video. Thanks for your efforts Leo, really your comparisons are the best.
Wow, thank you for such an amazing compliment!!! Really appreciated!!!
A funny point that actually can be serious especially for people playing live. My cat ate last week the power supply of my GT 1000 and it takes time to purchase a new one. So a very big plus to the Fender as you can find a "PC" cable much easier at any time and place.

Beautiful solos, Leo! Congrats!

I totally agree. I expect much more from Fender. Fractal is ahead of any other company in the industry. They simulate components. It's other level.
Thank you so much for sharing your opinion and your findings!
Like he said the FTPM is in its infancy. Give it time it will only get better , look at the helix family of devices for ex
surprised how far off the TMP was on the Marshall amp JCM 800 & your saying also with the Plexi - I have not pulled the trigger on a modeler as of yet hopefully Fractal will have touch screens on the next versions - If Fender gets on the ball adds more amps & effects and the capture feature that would be game changing - Great demo Leo
Thank you, I'm happy that you like the video! And thank you also for sharing your findings and your decision!
My opinion.
Hi, thank you for sharing! Yes, the gapless switch is super important for many of us.
Worth pointing out that Fractal just brought gapless switching to the Axe FX-III and the team have said they expect to be able to bring it to the FM9 and FM3 also.
Fantastic review Thank you ! I really enjoyed your guitar playing on this demo. Your phrasing is phenomenal 👍👍👍
Thank you soooo much Steve....when you like my music and my playing...I'm super happy!!!
amazing job as usual, and amazing playing as usual
Thank you soooooo much!!!!
Brilliant review Leo.
Thank you sooooo much!!!!
I was wondering if Fender Tone Master Pro is better than my new FM9. And now, this confirmed, my decision that I bought my FM9 last month is very worthy and it's still better than the new Tone Master Pro. Now I know...I'll rest and then go back to enjoy my toy. Lol.
😀 Thank you for sharing!!!
Another great video and resource! Thank you!
You are welcome and I'm really happy that you like the video!!!
I think its clear now that Fractal has the best and more professional sounds and the TMP has the perfect UI. If Fractal develops their UI into something like the TMP it will be unbeatable.
Hi, thank you for sharing your findings!
I will probably always stay with fractal. Besides the freedom and tweakbility, it is the fully customizeble Footswitches that I dont want to give away ever again. No unit comes even close.
Hi, thank you for sharing your findings!
I have the regular FM3 and not the turbo that has more processing power...even if not so much...
fender is a joke for 1700.00....qc2.0 to me
You are doing the best comparisons, thanx for that - really helpful!
Thank you so much for such an amazing compliment!!!
I do agree about the UI of the Fractal system...thank you for pointing it out!
Hi, thank you for sharing your opinions and your findings!
Interesting. At the end of the day which ever inspires you to play and create will win me. I owned a AX8 sounded great but I would fail into option paralysis 😅.
The Fender looks to be more tweak as you play friendly, definitely will be trying one.
Hi, thank you for sharing your findings!
Bel confronto grazie !! e buon compleanno !!!
Grazie mille!!! Sia per il complimento che per gli auguri!!
Hi Leo, I have the regular FM3 which is a beast, and yes you can use Highres IRs and you noticed the diferrence, they sound much more organic
Thank you for sharing! Useful info!
Hi Peter, thank you for sharing!
Yes, the price in euro is too high...
Great demo song. Agree with most, if not all of your opinions. Tone is a win for Fractal. Ease of use goes to the Fender. Features and tones matter most to me. God bless and rock on 🎸😎👍
Hi, thank you so much, I'm happy that you like the song and that you agree with me!!
Yes, tone is super important!
I'm sold on the Fender tone master. Gonna be getting one soon and can't wait. The other is good too.
Hi, thank you for sharing!
Great video my friend!! I love your accent! 😂 Having owned FA units before i agree they offer a lot more specially when used in studio etc , however for easier usability in a live environment I've decided to go with the FTPM. Rock on
Thank you so much, I'm really happy that you like the video!!!
Thank you also for sharing your findings and your final decision!
Note that while Fractal does model the taper of most amp controls, they do not model the taper of the master volume and instead offer an idealized master volume taper. As such, simply setting the volume on an amp in the exact same spot as the model will yield different results.
Hi, thank you for sharing these interesting info!
Thank you for sharing!
Update to the comparison chart. Fractal now has gapless scene and preset switching on the FM3, FM9 and AxeFX III on the latest firmware versions.
Hi, thank you for sharing!
Leo makes the most comprehensive practical demos.
Thank you so much for such an amazing compliment!!!
UltraRes support has been added to FM3 in firmware 3.03
Thank you so much for sharing this info!
@@LeoGibsonGtr Since that comment dropped I have asked Grok actually and everything is pointing to the FM9 not 3)
Thanks for your time !

Yes, the FM9 offers more options vs the FM3 indeed...if money are not an issue....it is worth the upgrade.
Brindo a Leo e al futuro user friendly e more rack based 👍🤟
Grazie mille per i complimenti che mi fanno molto piacere!
Grazie anche per aver condiviso il tuo auspicio!!! 👍
Tone Master for old man like me 😊
😀
Hi, thank you for sharing! Yes, Fractal units have amazing "tuning" options...
Hi, thank you for sharing!
Let me add that the noise gate was off for both the modellers...also for the TMP.
Thank you!
The interface of TMP is 10 out of 10. But I kind of prefer fractal for now. I wish I had one. I Let's see future updates
Hi, thank you for sharing!
Hi Leo
It's time to record an album...so great music !
Yes, this is something I would really like to do...I actually have a full album complete....even if it is not what you would probably expect from me...as it is with voice :) ... but I'm still not happy with mixing and mastering...and with some voice and guitar parts...you know an album requires so much time!!!

Hello Leo thanks for your amazing videos, from your feeling do you think the TMP sound and feel as good as fractal ? i mean the aliasing for exemple , the reverb algorythm, OK fractal have more amp and tweaking but Tmp have blutooth for just plug and play with a backing track in 2min,to play guitar fast and not tweak everyday more important ? thank you
Great review. Can you review NAM vs FM3?
Thank you, I'm really happy that you like the video!
NAM is based on profiling and FM3 on modelling...I don't know if it is a pair comparison....I will think about it.
Thank you for your suggestion!
Thanks a lot for your videos ! Is Fender Tone Master Pro have autofiliter/auto-wah effect available ?
You are welcome!
I've check out the user manual and the manual with the list of effects: I was not able to find a reference to the auto wah...: if someone knows, please drop here a message.
Thanks!
There's a sandpaper grit to both the TM and the FM3 on the Deluxe Reverb that the amp doesn't seem to have. Anyway to dial out that harshness?
I'm sorry, I can't hear it....I will check it out further....
Solid!
Thank you Jon!
For a professional, Fractal Products are undoubtedly preferable precisely because of the enormous possibility they offer to customize and create unique and original sounds. It is their added value compared to all the competition. Obviously they are not products for amateurs.
I'd love a Fractal with the Tone Master GUI
😀...good point...or a Fractal with a QC interface...😀
Fractal sounds fantastic, but their user interface is way too complicated for me to use on an everyday basis, and the screen on the device is too small for me. However, I wouldn’t buy the Fender yet. They need a lot more updates. As of right now, I would go with QC if I needed an all in one pedal unit.
Hi, thank you for sharing your opinion and you findings!!
Interesting analysis and conclusions....
Hi, thank you so much for sharing!
$500 used at guitar center for what? I havent seen an FM9 below 1000 used before
@@gdawgs101 For the Fender. That is all it is worth. You can get a FM 3 For under a grand. FM9 is still too new. Mine was $1845. I did not like the UI so I sold it...for $1845. They are in demand. I waited a year to get mine on the waitlist.
I hope the fender TMP release the peavey 6505+ amp.
Hi, thank you for sharing!
Yes, it would be a nice addition....but they also need to fix the Plexi and the JCM 800....
Thank you!
From an I/O and live use perspective, a better comparison would be FM9 / TMP as they are similar price.
Hi, thank you! The FM9 is included in this video. I have only the FM3, but I have added also all the info about FM9.
Thank you!
The FM9 is $600 USD more expensive in Australia than the FM3 and TMP

Hi, thank you so much for sharing your findings!
I think in a live setting, all of these modern units sound very good. Splitting hairs.....
Great vídeo. Very indepth.
Do the FM3 Turbo and FM9 Turbo have the same processors?
Thank you, really appreciated!
No, I think that the FM9 has a more powerful processor....for instance it allows to load a chain with a double amp block, which shouldn't be possible in the FM3
Thank you!
Please us your preference 👏🏻
and the winner is FM3
HI, thank you for sharing!
I prefer the sound of the TMP. More real , more organic

Thank you.
You are welcome and thank you so much for sharing your findings and you opinion!
British > real jcm > fractal jcm for me here)))
the question is how many hours do you have to waste learning it? and then throwing it all away because the new version arrived or constantly waiting for the next update.
tubes can't be captured! they are wild and weird and we like it.
Hi, thank you for sharing!
Hi, thank you for sharing!
Yes, I totally understand your use case!
Prefer the FM3 more not because its cheaper but sound comparison/modelling the FM3 does it much better.
Hi, thank you so much for sharing!
The Tonemaster deluxe tone was very good, as was the FM3.
I was suprised how poor the Marshall 800 was from Fender!. Seems they haven't learnt much in the 10 years from the mustang floor in respect of tone 😐
Thank you for sharing!
I hope they will improve Marshall amps with FW updates!
I found the FM3 to have more crunchy/distorted highs than the real fender amp and TMP model.
Hi, thank you for sharing your findings!
Hi, thank you for sharing...interesting points, especially about computer substituting modellers...interesting.
Thank you!
Fm9 smokes everything and is only getting better
Hi, thank you for sharing!
Thanks!
I think the fractal UI is super easy to use, user friendly and allows to very quickly build a great sounding preset.
FRACTAL smokes the tmp....its funny on the gear page how everyone is asking for all these amps that are in the fractal..lol...good luck as fender isnt know for updates and they drop tech withing a year or 2.
Hi, thank you for sharing!
Yes, I do agree with your analysis!

Gapless switching and UI are strong benefits of the TMP. I've nether taken my FM3 to a live gig. Just too complicated to tweak in the heat of battle. The Fractal user interface is dismal, as Mr. Shull put it and rightly so.
Fender’s deluxe reverb amp model was marginally closer to the real thing than the Fractal’s… it’s a different story for non -fender amps it seems.

@@NS-tc9kk
