    Amber being the good cop to Rob’s bad cop is interesting bc most of the duos in this list follow the same pattern! One person positions themself as the power player to look out for and the other gets to be nice and get in other people’s good graces. What’s even more interesting to me, though, is how it’s not always the good cops that win. It’s a double edged sword being in that position bc while the jury might not be as pissed at you, you also won’t get credit for the big moves that you made together (as is the case with Amanda w/ Todd and Parvati)

    • @tmm4195
      @tmm4195 Рік тому +10

      To be fair, amanda had a good chance to win both of her seasons, but blew it. So it wasn’t that she was seen as not making moves, but she came off as fake and didn’t own up to all the moves

      @@tmm4195 very true! I have to agree, I’ve never liked Amanda’s play style very much because she always seemed disingenuous about how she played. I can see how that pisses off the jury in the end

    • @funkycrawler619
      @funkycrawler619 11 місяців тому +1

      I see your POV but idk if disingenuous is the right word. Maybe I am dumb, but unaccountable seems like a more apt term since she never owned up to her moves out of fear for being vindicated for it when the reality was she would've been applauded. Maybe the words are synonyms but disingenuine seems a bit more severe than it was. @@kerklyo6879

      @@funkycrawler619 I’m gonna defend my word choice here. Not only did she not own up to her game, she was actively dishonest about how she played. Particularly in Micronesia with the Ozzy blindside, which we have since been told she was in on the whole time.
      Amanda is a really good player. She made it to the end twice in a row. I won’t discredit her by implying that she lost her nerve in the end game. I think she knew exactly what she was doing and believed she had a winning strategy. Unfortunately, she was wrong.

    • @funkycrawler619
      @funkycrawler619 11 місяців тому

      May I ask what do you mean by wrong? She had a winning game both (arguably 3) times she played. She was the front runner in China and its been confirmed FTC changed the results heavily and Micronesia I believe it came down to Jason's vote for a tie (and I have heard Eliza was somewhat open). Just curious to know what you mean by wrong about her strategy cause her strategy and gameplay was amazing she just couldn't close. @@kerklyo6879

    Cochrane and Dawn as a duo give me life. They flopped at the merge one season and then pushed onward to the final 3 during their second chance. The second run they had, as a duo, was iconic because they dissected their favs tribe and the fans tribe; by pulling no punches!

    Man, for all that has been made about players like Cirie and Rob C. and even Dom being the best to never win, I truly think Amanda might actually have the greatest claim to the throne. Considering how she was always a relevent player in all her seasons and went super super deep I think her bad tribal council performances have sadly sold her short. Knowing she was in on the Ozzy blindside now cements that for me, its a shame she went to final tribal with 2 of the most charismatic players off all time in Todd and Parvati because she'd have run away with her seasons otherwise.

      Amanda's problem is that she's just bad at Final Tribal Council. She finished third in China and finished behind Parvati in Micronesia, who got smoked by Sandra in Heroes v. Villains. Amanda would have lost to Cirie (the rightful winner, but she got screwed by the surprise final two, making her one of the two most robbed players ever along with Devon in HHH) also. That being said, if Amanda ever got to the end again and had a better Final Tribal Council performance, she could win.

    • @bergiefbaby

      I think this is why most people still hold Rob C., Cirie, and Malcolm in such high regard because most people assume they wouldn't have had any issue of pleading their case at final tribal. I think that's PROBABLY a good assumption, but maybe not. Amanda had TWO shots and swung and missed on both. I can't see any of Rob C., Cirie and Malcolm losing in FTC twice.

      Thing is with Tony and Sarah they are lower as a duo than individual results. If you take a duo and calculate how each has done on every season they were in. My guess is that Tony and Sarah might be #1 in that case. Tony in Game Changers would drop it quite considerably. But they are the only duo to have 3 winning seasons between them.

    • @KingsNerdCave
      @KingsNerdCave Рік тому

      @@classicmiriam Well yeah you're looking at it in terms of individual performance. Rob and Amber as a duo had much more power in their season than Tony and Sarah. But on the flip side as an individual Tony ranks as arguably the greatest winner ever.

    I can only wonder how much it changes All-Stars if Lex was able to pull that off. Personally, if Lex was able to take Amber out, I don’t think Rob gets anywhere near Final Tribal. So happy to see someone else with this take on Amanda (and made in a much cooler way than I would have)! It drives me crazy that everyone underrates her but that is exactly her superpower so I shouldn't be surprised hahaha.
    It then infuriates me because the jury realizes at the end that they underestimated her, and they get mad at her for their own misperceptions. She definitely doesn't do herself any favors but I would actually compare her FTC performances to Tony's. His may have been a little better but he was way too apologetic in Cagayn just like Amanda in China, and he did a terrible job talking up his own game in Winners just like Amanda in Micronesia. He even cried after eliminating Sara just like Amanda with Cirie, but people liked when he did it and thought Amanda was being fake when she did it.

    My top 5 would be
    Cody and Jesse
    Rob and amber
    J.t and Stephen
    Domnic and Wendell
    Cochran and dawn
    Not in that order

  • @samuelsummers857

    No order for me but: Tom and Ian Palau, Rob and Amber All Stars, Dom and Wendell Ghost Island, Parv and Amanda Fans Vs Favs, Kim and Sabrina one world. Kim was amazing but Sabrina did a lot too and in almost any other season crushes her competition. Shout out to Earl and Yau Fiji, and Nick and Mike David vs Goliath as well.

    • @nolanrussell6326
      @nolanrussell6326 Рік тому +3

      I don't really see them as a duo. They weren't on the same original tribe, then worked against each other at the tribe swap, and only started working together out of necessity when their tribe was decimated to just 4 people. Even then Ozzy was always closer to Sundra and Yul was always closer to Becky. If Ozzy wasn't always immune, Yul probably would've taken him out at Final 4 or 5

    Given that they were up against the strongest cast of all time, Tony and Sarah should definitely be on the list if not at the top. And I just can't agree with Rob and Amber at No. 1. Rob had a lot of power in that game, but it's unclear exactly what Amber was doing aside from getting close to Rob. She won that season because Rob did such a bad job of jury management that he lost. I would definitely favor duos where both members were equally important strategically, such as Dom and Wendell and JT and Stephen.

    • @getthisbread3877
      @getthisbread3877 Рік тому +1

      the way I see it amber was basically the one who kept her and rob's alliance together. she was the one who suggested to bring rupert and jenna into their alliance and kept everyone, including big tom and alicia, in each other's good graces (until they were voted out obviously). she also kept a good relationship with the opposing alliance as well (with lex and kathy going into the merge and shii ann before she got voted out). i don't think she's an outwardly strategic player but she definitely covered areas of the game that rob was lacking in. he wouldn't have made it as far without her and vice versa.

    I love ya, Peridium but putting a pregamed duo from an all-stars season as number one is such a bad call. The asterisk next to them is so massive.
    I will always be more impressed by duos like Wendell and Dom who didn’t know each other before the season started.
