Even though I dont have the app setting reset issues (I'm on Andoid), I agree with you on the lack of activity export/Strava link. Thanks for the review! I have a question for you. I had a Huawei watch (the GT 2 pro I think), and it was a great watch. For the most part, the watch worked well, but there was one huge flaw for me. There was only one notification type. So, that means that a calendar notification and a text message both look like the same notification type. Additionally, if I missed a notification, there was no dot or anything to tell me there were notifications I hadn't read yet. And, to top it all off, I couldn't do anything with the notification other than clear it. I'm very used to being able to respond to a text message (even if it's just a prepared response), or delete an email from the message options. None of that was available. So, my question is, does this watch suffer from the same thing?
Very good review! Though i also think: The couple of data migrations I ve done were never really perfect (Runtastic, Polar PT, Polar Flow, Garmin Connect) and probably most people wont mind having their data only in one place and wont take the pain of migrating anything (even if they change the "ecosystem"). A graphical extraction of the GPS/ heart rate data is definitely possible (for the comparison), even with a good accuracy (f.i. with a CAD-App)... but surely also extremely time-consuming...
Migrating is never fun but it's possible on every other platform. More importantly if you're a Strava or Training Peaks user you need to be able to get your activity files! I considered overlaying them in photoshop but it seemed imperfect. Thanks for watching!

Exactly same sensors and software as the Huawei Watch GT2 (I’ve been wearing one since Feb/20). Unfortunately it doesn’t connect with anything else (Strava, etc) nor export .GPX or .TCX files. And it lacks some basic sports features such as set laps or intervals. And it also lacks connectivity with external sensors, and the interface with iOS is very poor. Once it´s a watch more into the "big size area", why comparing that just with 42mm watches? Sorry, this is a great review but I did not get the point with that comparison...
Dont buy this, you prefer to buy Garmin or Amazfit Stratos. The GPS is SU*K, I need 3 minute to get GPS for Running and the GPS tracking for Run is SU*K. But if you use for cycling it'# good, i dont know why. FU*K I regret to buy this Smartwatch!!!!!
Such a pity of the lack of connectivity with other applications. Huawei makes nice devices, but always with a lock in to their own ecosystem unfortuantely.
Biggest flaw is the terrible GPS connecting time. Can last up to 2 minutes or so.....even after having exchanged the CPU within the warranty no improvement.....
Been using it for 4 months then sold and replaced with Fenix 6X... Not bad as a smartwatch, impressinve battery life, notifications, phone calls possible... But s**k as a sportswatch - no gpx export, no external platform sync. Waiting for Huawei support to deliver your fitness data (it is taking them usually 7 days or more) as zipped json files - that is far too little... Altimeter was not bad, GPS - mediocre. To sum up - nice as a budget watch for active people, but I'd never buy it again (rather would got Coros Pace2 or FR245 for that price)
@@ChaseTheSummit I remember how disappointed I was (didn't read about before buying one) finding that limitation. Closed and minimal ecosystem is killing Huawei as a serious competitor for Garmin, Coros or Suunto.
it's often the problem with those Chinese watches and fit bands (and i used few) - no support for other platforms. Xiaomi recently added strava support for Xiaomi Wear so maybe huawei will follow. As of now, imo, good HW is trapped by poor software.
My friend thank you very much for this excellent videos!!! If you have the possibility to connect with Strava do you propose this smart watch for a someone who don't want to give a lot of money!!! In Greece this model cost 150 Euro!!!!
I have the honor magic watch 2 as my smartwatch/semi-fitness tracker and I can say yes the music portion of it is only supported on Android devices. Matter fact alot of features for this watch is based off of Android devices. You ate very limited on what you can do on an apple device. You can store music on the watch and play it directly on the watch since it has a speaker and you can answer calls on the watch, just can't make outbound calls. You can also pair your ear buds with the watch but I have not tried this feature out yet since my daily driver is the forerunner 945. For customizations it is also very limited as most data charts/fields can not be edited/customized. The watch faces are limited as well but more options are on Android devices.
I buyed one and the steps count is extremely innacurate. Reset the watch, uninstalled the Health app, nothing. Im in Brazil, buyed in Ali Express, called to Brazilian support and they can help me, "Just because the watch dont was released here". Nevermore buy Huawei in my LIFE!
Wow, which brand doesn't support "find my phone"?! That would be a showstopper too :-P Battery life with always on amoled is really interesting. Based on the gps track, maybe it saves some energy by not taking gps measurements every second, but it is just a guess.
I'm assuming the app just "smooths" the track out to make it prettier on the map. I bet the raw data is more accurate but... who knows?! The distance at the end of my runs did fall in line with my other test devices at least. Thanks for watching!
Both Xiaomi and Huaweii ignore Strava. I can't understand their CEO's actually think they can push their own platforms (which are not that good) and don't get it that a lot of customers from the Western Countries are not going to buy their watches simply because they are lacking a strava sync.
@Driya Amandita the new app xiaomi wear which came out with the mi watch doesnt support strava and I beleive it is used with band 6 and 4c. I dont know if you can add new devices to the old app

I have the T Rex Pro and Honor GS Pro and the difference is that the T Rex Pro has PAI and is 10ATM, but anything else the T Rex Pro has the honor has and more such as First Beat metrics, a long battery life, fitness status where you get advised if you are maintaining, overtraining, peaking or getting fitter. Route back is available on the GS Pro unlike the T Rex where it has no such functions. GS Pro has Music storage with or without headphone connectivity, speakers to take calls, more watch faces and the sleep tracking widget with good sleep tracking is also on the Honor GS Pro watch. It just has more than the T Rex Pro, but for the money T Rex Pro isn't bad and I like the look of the watch.
@@simdencard unfortunately i have bought trex pro 2 months ago. But if i have to be honest about that. It is overrated. Design is ok. Weight is ok but it is not enough. And it lacks some basic sports features such as set laps or intervals. And it also lacks connectivity with external sensors, and the interface with iOS is very poor.
Hey Dave would you like to exchange your Coros Apex Pro with my Huawei GT2? Hehehe
Thanks for sharing. I think I'll hang onto the Apex Pro 😉
Does anyone know how you actually put music on this watch?
you might find this helpful: community.hihonor.com/unitedkingdom/topicdetail/tutorial-how-to-add-your-favorite-music-to-honor-watch-gs-pro/topicId-25077/
Once it´s a watch more into the "big size area", why comparing that just with 42mm watches?
Sorry, this is a great review but I did not get the point with that comparison...
It's just what I had on hand at the time of filming.
Did you know now about accuracy of GPS and heart rate right now ?
What do you mean?
@@ChaseTheSummit DID YOU find a way to see if the GPS and Heart rate are accurate ? I am between this and Garmin instinct.
What’s your Strava????
www.strava.com/athletes/17359116
Can this watch count the Calories that i burn throughout the day or while I'm doing a workout?
Yes
Nice review mate, tnx.
What watch face r u using there?
I'm not quite sure what the name of it is but it comes built into the watch.
@@ChaseTheSummit thanks for the prompt reply mate.
M patiently waiting for mine, ur review helped me with my purchase.
Thanks heaps.
Interesting watch for sure. Some great features, but not being able to export is huge!
Huge oversight. Thanks for watching!
BlueTooth Phone calls working?
Yup! Even on my iphone
Throwing the box is a new take on the DCR throw-the-watch move...
😂
whens the next vid coming
Just landed!
Can you connect to strava now?
And can you export data now?
Not with an IOS device. Apparently there's a third party app on Android that can do it.
NFC available?
Not that I'm aware of.
this or coros pace 2 or apex ?
For a sports watch ? COROS all day!
@@ChaseTheSummit but which one pace 2 or apex and can both connect well to spotify and strava offline?
I dont have one hop on my gs pro?Can someone help me?
Not sure I understand?
Nice review Dave. I'm so glad you didn't belly dance for us in this. 😆
Maybe next time!
@@ChaseTheSummit Lol 🤣
Such a pity of the lack of connectivity with other applications. Huawei makes nice devices, but always with a lock in to their own ecosystem unfortuantely.
that how it do 25 day battery or atleast 2-3 week for me ...
Pretty Watch.Never heard about this one.Greate battery life, nice Design.think i will give away my Honor Magic Watch 2 to my dad and buy this one🤩
Nice!
Stravalink should work now
I think that's been fixed since I made this video.
I think you've hit the nail on the head.
@@ChaseTheSummit I remember how disappointed I was (didn't read about before buying one) finding that limitation. Closed and minimal ecosystem is killing Huawei as a serious competitor for Garmin, Coros or Suunto.
Great job again! Belly dancing is important to a sport watch 🤣🤣 that's had me rolling 🤣🤣
The secret weapon to every pro athletes training is a vigorous Belly Dancing session twice a week!
it's often the problem with those Chinese watches and fit bands (and i used few) - no support for other platforms.
Xiaomi recently added strava support for Xiaomi Wear so maybe huawei will follow.
As of now, imo, good HW is trapped by poor software.
I'd tend to agree. Thanks for watching.
My friend thank you very much for this excellent videos!!!
If you have the possibility to connect with Strava do you propose this smart watch for a someone who don't want to give a lot of money!!!
In Greece this model cost 150 Euro!!!!
That's a great price. It's $280 USD here! If you don't use strava then it might be a good option.
Thanks for sharing.
Vs trex pro??
Pretty similar. But the T-Rex has an advantage of being able to pair with Strava.
@Dien Does HR data, Cadence sync too?
@Dien you experience it? Can i see your strava? Because i excited to buy honor gs pro.
Whilst we are not at the Garmin/Suunto killer stage, it wont be long now ....
If it:
1. Paired to externals
2. Synced to Strava
3. Had accurate gps (and HR)
You would have a SERIOUS competitor!
Ha! Nicely done.
It's certainly a huge oversight!
@Driya Amandita the new app xiaomi wear which came out with the mi watch doesnt support strava and I beleive it is used with band 6 and 4c. I dont know if you can add new devices to the old app
what? no bluetooth?
It has Bluetooth to connect to your phone but not for external sensors.

I got one for $4, pretty decent watch.
$4? Dang!
@@ChaseTheSummit Yup basically unused. It was sold without a charger, so a small gamble but worth it.
Thank for this video ! The amazfit is better than it If we compare with amazfit trex pro this is what i mean :) and i really feel good for bought amazfit trex pro at yesterday. I could not be patiently. 😅 But it was not surprise for me for now.
I really never seen like you who make quality contents.
Thanks,
Greetings,
Glad you enjoyed it! The T-Rex Pro is a cool watch!
Also i had see the value of altitude for only 1 weeks.
After that there is no information. GPS is normal. But it still same. Because of that i put off trex pro
@@lb2ww I agree. I barely use the T Rex Pro since the heart rate tracking wasn't working correctly on a road bike ride. Seems the bumps or software on the watch upsets the heart rate tracking when on a bike ride for some reason and I bought the watch mostly for when riding my bike.
"Μου λείπεις" στο αριστερό σου χέρι ? 😁
That's right!
I have the watch, with android 11 I can't receive mail notifications on the watch even if I gave permission from the phone, because android 11 works with gmail, I use outlook and I also have mail and gmail is registered in outlook, I receive messages on the watch only from gmail on who don't use it, a big disappointment, I'm interested in the email messages that don't come on the watch. something else to tell you, the battery only lasts 7 days because if you buy the watch now, it's manufactured in 2022 and it's been in the box and the battery has depreciated let me tell you, I bought a watch on aliexpress in 2022 and the battery lasted 14 days, I bought another one in 2024 (now it costs 65 dollars) and the battery lasts 7 days, maybe someone knows why I don't receive notifications from yahoo mail on the watch from android 11
Huawei privacy concerns are the biggest show stopper for me. Shame, it's a looker
failure very slow gps lock
