handy tip for unboxing heavy items, dont lift the heavy item out of the box, cut the bottom, and lift the box off the machine, so you are only lifting the weight of the cardboard box, not the whole unit, just bought this item, got some great reviews, getting delivered today,
Awesome Aussie review of the thicknesser. Subscribed. Want to buy one within a few weeks.Have you done a video on dust extractor? I’ll need both. Thanks for your effort. Love your enthusiasm mate. Cheers Howard
@@EastAvenueWoodWorks for sure, that’s a great find! I had a similar experience with my first thicknesser. It was $100 on marketplace, rocked up to grab it and it was new in the box, plastic still on 😂 win!
I'm just starting to set up my wood working shed here in QLD and its good to finally see some good reviews of Aussie sold products. I've already been stung a few times going by American reviews which include certain accessories only to find out they aren't included or even sold here in Australia with those accessories
Sorry to hear you’ve been stung mate! Doing my best to get as many reviews out there as I can for this exact reason! I relied on US and UK reviews when I was getting started, makes it hard when the deals are different over there. I’ve got a review playlist set up that might help you out some more man, good luck with setting up!
I just took delivery of the Timbecon version of this. They're brilliant machines. The timber finish is better than the massive $15,000 machine my school used to have. Also pretty quiet considering the amount of wood being removed. About as loud as my random orbital sander or shop vac. Dust extraction machine is vital though.
Awesome man, glad you’re sold on it! It’s a killer machine! Don’t forget to use the link in the video description if you’re gunna buy online! Every click helps keep the reviews coming! Thanks for checking out the video mate!

@@JNDCreations Yeah I see that. Did you check out the Sherwood 13in Deluxe Thicknesser - that has a Helical Spiral Head and is $1199 currently - bit more than the Carbatec which is on offer for $999 at Total Tools right now.

I think they are pretty close mate. I’ll have to do some further testing on that to be sure, but from what I’ve seen so far they can cut just about any which way smoothly!
Hey Jax, the helical is nice isn't it. I have the same machine but from hare and Forbes. Just a note for those with straight blades is that if you only get a small nick in the blades, then you can sometimes get away with just adjusting the blades offset. So that the nicks don't line up. I have never used a dewalt thicknesser, but that is what most reviews are on, it would be great to see a blind test between the two (helical cabertec/hafco are both just under $1000) vs the dewalt 3 blade (about $1100) put some sample wood through both and then have a pro (cabinet/furniture maker) decide which is the better finish (without knowing which piece is from which machine). Now that would be interesting. Cheers mate.
yaaah! The problem with "Aussie reviews" is that they will generally be about products from the "big three" - Carbatec, Hare and Forbes, and Timbecon, and the simple truth is shipping costs alone make them unattractive (and unaffordable). Edit: And add to that the fact that they are nearly always out of stock as this particular item is.
Is that because “the big three” are the only places to get decent gear? 😂 I’ve only ever paid $9 for shipping from Carbatec and Timbecon, granted I believe that price is for up to 20kgs.
