You just run them through a virtual server with each server holding 8 bots or so still takes a bit of power but no where near as much as you would think.

How many times has this happened?
PMods and trusted content creators should be able to flag an emergency in game. That should push straight to every JMods phone if enough votes happen in rapid succession. In short, an emergency should be actioned within 30 minutes by the JMods.
did you know its legally binding now in the uk to show players of their game what bugs are effecting their money. due to bonds being buyable with real life money the players must be aware of all risks. so you acctually can take jagex to court over something like this

Ferrets Rock im not sure if the laws changed recently but the problem was jagex would prove in court that bonds have no monetary value to another person since jagex owns everything stated in their tos , they can take your account anytime for no reason. So they sell sometimes they can take anytime they want. In court that argument is the problem

Why would they do that unless they are complete idiots? Cutting Rendi out of profit just so Rendi can make it public and prevent anyone getting anything out of the dupe? So they really risked everything just because of one guys cut? That doesnt make sense to me.
My bet is Rendi really wanted to get barrows gloves for his low level account with using this dupe and he obivously needed help with it, but he had no clue these people would use it to dupe unlimited money and ruin the game from everyone, so he decided to make it public and prevent it.
But even if Rendi was cut off from profit (which still makes no sense). Rendi did the right thing in the end and that what matters.

It’s too late for the game to be saved. The glitch was already abused and they made millions IRL and trillions of gp are still out there in circulation. Jagex is still making bank from this relatively cheap 07 style mmo
It's the way he did it. By publically making them look bad. Never go after a company's image and expect rewards from said company. Not saying Rendi does, I think he just wants them to ackowledge what happened. But the community should try to understand this. Jagex is a big company with investors and ad campaigns. Best for them to just let this blow over, and internally do better to catch these things. On thay same coin, it'd be best if we the players took similar steps. The bigger this gets blown up, the more negative of an impact it will have.

Yeah, They use a clientless/headerless *packet* bot which is really just a modded version of Runelite which allows anyone with a gaming pc to easily run over 1000 accounts because they use hardly any resources.
Mimic bots are just a small example of what these people are doing.
I know theres a minimum of 10 people who have access to these packet bots.. and yeah. It's bad news for osrs.

Not to mention a quick Google search has seen gold prices drop, to between $.40-$.50 from the almost $.80 it was a few weeks ago. It makes me wonder if some of this gold did actually get out there. But iirc, flipping osrs also mentioned the new raids bots were up and running as well. Leaving things like the DHCB going down.

Lots of the top 100 most traded items have REALLY weird volumes in the last week or so.
You say "it seems as if the servers now lag, at the time they look like they would crash, they somewhat regenerate completely" and then just have the checkmark with "servers no longer crash"...But...what if there are other ways to crash the server that "fully" crash it and result in the same scenario. Its more far fetched now, but who's to say just because they fixed this scenario, they fixed all scenarios
100% this glitch has been used in a similar way by someone else.
I remember back in 2010-2012 someone did an infinite interface stacking glitch and caused a world to crash for a couple of hours. (I think it's called the world 64 crash) There has been other instances where a certain special character put into chat would cause players to log out. I imagine if you find old/ archive glitch forums you could find glitches that aren't patched.

I just went here to see the story and surprisingly enough, i was getting this error the whole time and i dont know what went wrong until i tried to either use vpn or disconnect and connect my ethernet cable and then keep refreshing java config page until it is up and simply go hit the play buttom. Sometimes it does not work at all and i am left clueless. U cant imagine how many sub reddit , jagex sites i went in through and there were no any handy solution at this . So thank you for clarifying this. Subbed ^^

Jagex would probably have to revert the servers, even by couple days in order to fix this, if the dupe played out to its full conclusion.

Jagex doesn't seem to keep very frequent full backups of severs anyway; this may have resulted in a full blown eco reset if it wasn't for Rendi.

Hey look, another gp dupe. Surprising this games economy is stronger than Venezuela’s at this point.
Their only saving grace is that they can reroll, whereas Venezuela is permanently fucked. Still, one wonders what would have happened to the Venezuelan gold farmers if this had levelled the OSRS economy. It could have been like the stock market crash, with hundreds of Venezuelans jumping out of skyscrapers (or, at the very least, tenements).

Thank you for the transparency Rendi! This is the kind of action we need in this world. It is scary to think about how volatile GP value can be, especially considering how much people have invested into it. I personally feel Jagex should be more transparent with the state of the game. Not to cause fear, but to keep people informed about what happened and how they are working to fix it. I'm tired of all this shady shit!

If he was really just abusing bugs for his own benefit this video would never have existed and he would've got rich while watching the OS economy burn rather then trying so hard to have jagex fix a bug that would undoubtedly killed the OS economy and likely the player base. I think he deserves a thank you from all of the OS players because without his intervention all of our gp would be completely worthless.
Your Mother like you saw in this video him and his friends have power in their knowledge of bug manipulation, accidentally stumbling upon a money maker that’d tank the economy. He’s probably exploiting the lowkey bugs

I understand why jagex in particular would have an unfavorable opinion towards him being that he was a part of the discussion that stemmed this exploit but just because he may have contributed to the knowledge that made the exploit possible I don't think we or jagex should think negatively about him for that, in fact I believe quite the opposite.
He's a greyhat bug abuser. At best Jagex and Rendi are on neutral ground with each other. Jagex should understand that Rendi could be a powerful ally if he could be trusted. But after this video that wouldn't be very likely.
Holy shit this is an important video.
As someone in game development myself, keeping bug like this under wraps is absolutely not something you should see as devious on their behalf. Something like this is such a huge issue (as you have personally stated repeatedly in this video). The less people who know that this is possible, the better. They would have had to hot fix an immediate patch with no time to test it and make sure its 100% foolproof. Until they can spend the time creating/testing one that was, not informing the world that this huge issue exists is a very smart move. And those insecurities you've mentioned, on feeling like your hard earned gold could have been worthless, guaranteed even knowing that this issue is fixed, some players will feel like any day it could happen and quit. You dont have to feel like everything you arent told is a devious secret with malicious intent.
I think his issue was that they continued to censor and lie about after it had already been patched, even to whistleblower who was making them aware of the whole thing
@@SpunneyAgain, it’s understandable though. Less people that know about it means less drama and less concern from the player base. The average RuneScape player probably doesn’t know this ever happened. Why would Jagex come out and tell them it happened and make their game seem less stable? Also how many dupes do you think currently exist in game? There’s no telling. Only took four players theorycrafting for a bit to find one. How many would be found if thousands of people were actively working towards it?

It already is. So many people are put off due to random auto bans, the fact that human support is so hard to contact and that streamers seem to be the only valued players of the community.

the staffing is so minimal because the money this company brings in is far less than most people think. people see the inflated player numbers on the homepage and think RS is actually in competition with other powerhouse gaming companies.
@@apple54345 Not even close. RS3 is a dying game while OSRS only maintains their couple 10k's concurrent... they're not even close to MMOs like WoW or FF14. That's just facts.... no hate.

9:50 update in 2020: they took away our ability to chat like adults. now 100+ words have been completely force-filtered and you can't turn it off because jagex is afraid of being accused of racism for allowing people to chat freely.
integrity changes... like being able to disable the chat filter is an integrity change... i stopped paying them a long time ago. community-run polls only? Yeah right.

This is why I laugh when I see those reddit posts titled something like " OMG X amount of players online!! ". It's like bro, AT LEAST 25% of those are bots, and that's being conservative.
