I understand what you're saying about how people teach you how to treat them but you know there are a lot of people in the world who are defined by how people around them treat them - their self-image is broken and they don't know how to love themselves. If the people in their lives treat them like they are unlovable, that is how they see themselves. They cannot tell the world how to treat them, they can only be who the world tells them they are. That's why they need Jesus to love them.
