@@why3994 I would say the narrative of gkmc is much more cohesive and polished. Tpabs narrative is good but it's more abstract or ethereal whereas gkmc is a very grounded and real story from beginning to end, laid out like a movie, with distinct characters who all represent a different theme presented throughout the album. The individual songs on gkmc have more replayability overall too imo, obviously tpab has a lot of great songs but gkmc is front to back fire, not a single miss except maybe Compton and still holds up great after more than a decade.

replay isn't the best metric to judge which album is greater dude. Some aren't meant to have replay value. When it comes to the whole albbum experience, TPAB is greater. It's a story, a statement, lesson all in one. Feels like a novel. GKMC feels more like a movie, which is great too
I always see this argument and I still don't get it, the only songs you'd not want to replay all the time are U and the second half of mortal man lol. Tpab is also far more consistent
@@ladong644: For me, For Sale through You Ain't Gotta Lie (minus The Blacker the Berry) are all skips more often than not on shuffle. That's more than a third of the album. For GKMC, Sherane and The Art of Peer Pressure are probably about 50/50. Even if you include SAMIDOT, it's less than a third of the album. But I'm less inclined to skip any of those than all of the songs mentioned in TPAB. All great songs on their respective albums, and if I get past the initial skip urge I generally don't regret it, but it's definitely there.
When listening to albums front to back, I don't skip (only exception being pointless skits, of which there are none on either album). But I'd still rather listen to GKMC (and get more out of it) than TPAB.

As great as a lot of songs on TPAB are, I feel like GKMC comes together so much more seamlessly. It's not as adventurous as TPAB, but it's a lot more focused. Feel like I can get much more immersed in it as a whole project, start to finish, it does feel like a movie. TPAB feels more disjointed to me, maybe more extravagant, but, also kind of awkward in its transitions from track to track. Feel like the poem is almost used as a palette cleanser between tracks, but to me, it becomes kinda gimmicky, and distracting compared to the skits on good kid, which just suck me in further. With TPAB, the musical and tonal shifts make it feel disjointed. as much as I can get into each individual song, I never enjoy listening to it straight through. Both great albums, but GKMC flows better.
if u remove “Real” from GKMC it becomes a 10/10. i listen to GKMC more bc it’s a banger album and i am fond of it but i think TPAB deserves to be on its pedestal even if it’s not our fav.

The music is incredibly impressive on it, much more than good kid, but, the way good kid comes together feels more in the moment, gritty, and real to me, which i prefer. Like, id rather watch some dude play blues on the sidewalk than sit through a classical show, thats just me. I know thats a weird analogy, but thats how i see the difference between the two
