When I was a kid in the 70's I remember small organs being sold in department stores which had very similar sounding built-in percussion sounds, I wonder if they used they same electronics.
The integrated circuit chips of the time (or a little later in the decade) used configurations of tiny transistors made into oscillators and simple filtering circuits. However, here we have discreet transistors doing that. It might not be apparent here in this video but the sound is very nice, percussive and real sounding. Amazing for just discreet transistors. But, yes, I think the timing components of the circuit are similar to the way an electronic metronome would be made, with discreet transistors.
@@bradlauk1419 My friend and I used this drum box for years when jamming surf rock and early rock guitar stuff. We couldn't find a real drummer. Then we switched to using a an old Casio keyboard with its built-in drum rhythms.
One of the best things about these old classic drum machines is getting combo beats. Very clever.

Wow, in near-perfect condition too! Great find!
We used this for years as our main drummer while we jammed from 2005-2014
Ive seen one similar on Beal street, street performer had one to play his guitar along with. He had a shopping cart with batteries to run it.
I NEED this thing! Sounds awesome!!!
Quality sounds. All of them are really good
Nice find! Very groovy.
There are still some floating around on ebay. I've noticed identical units with different brand names.
I wanted to hear mambo :(
Nice kick sound
Essentially a fancy metronome

I'm curious what's inside this thing.
I had it open about 15 years ago, it uses a lot of transistors.
Drums ya dingus
