My dad had a 1990 W124 300d 112hp version got it in 97 and what a smooth quiet diesel it was inside.
Had it 15 years then bought a used 210W.
Silver sold it on still driving on its 4th owner.
Reallt nice car with a beautiful interior. This car will last you easily another 20 years of daily use.
Good review. Nice to see it in uk Road conditions. The 2.0 seems pretty decent. I had a 1990 190 2.0, I'm thinking of getting an early 90s E class.

live in australia now, was hoping you were going to head up towards the Three Tuns at the end of the Windsor relief road towards The Copthorne Hotel (if it is still called that). Used to live off Cippenham Lane. Nice car, just bought a '93 E280 over here. From the original owner since '93. Been looking countrywide for a while then found one 5 mins away from me. Owned by the same guy for 30 years The W124 has a nice following over here.
Its still called The Copthorne Hotel, I know Chippenham Lane very well as I purchase parts from the Mercedes garage close by. Thanks and congrats on your purchase, rare to find one from an original owner so you’ve done well there.
That gauge on the right is oil pressure. RTFM!
indicator stalk on 124 has lane change feature whereby you can press it up or down to operate it without fully engaging it , this is stated in the operators manual, if you have smoke coming out of yours you have a problem that you might want to look at.
