Reminds me my childhood days! Fleet master was used in India even till early 2000's. This used by travel companies for general public not for own pvt use.
The only car which was available for rental in our area more than fifty years ago. My father used to hire that Chevrolet Woody for our transportation. I found the skeleton of that car in a back yard a few years back.
Dad had a '48 Chevy wagon in dark green. He was a florist and used it for deliveries. He bought it new and from the day he bought it, he did nothing but complain. The wood did not stand up to Chicago winters, the fabric roof began to deteriorate even though it was garaged at night. Every nut and bolt came loose, the wood creaked at the joints the heater worked poorly and it sounded like a truck when on the road. The cacophony of rattles and the leatherette upholstery made the car incredibly uncomfortable, particularly in the winter. It was in the shop continually and he swore he would never buy another Chevrolet. It was a pure work vehicle and not much more. It was not a body by "fisher", but someone else named Ionia. If alive today, he would wonder about the obsession with wood-trimmed vehicles.
Wow, neat story, being from the windy city myself. I Wondered sbout what it took body shop wise for repairs and in severe winters like Chicago if the wood would mess up just like the sheet metal does.

Hey Bob... What an "awesome" video! It literally bought tears to my eyes.... Ohhh the memories. You are going to heaven for being such a wonderful steward for this Classic Woody. I grew up with a Chevy Woody on Cape Cod, I remember as a toddler, checking out the leather seats, switching the little roof light on and off. My dad would make us wax it every week. Wish I had paid more attention to it back then. Youth~ wasted on kids. Where is it now? Time to win the lottery. Thanks again.
It is the same form me meters or feet, I look for a table, a feet : 0,3048 mts.X 16: 4,87 meters. My Escale model bumper to bumper 5,56 meters.Is Is it it wrong? Idon´t know It has the 5th wheel on the rear door. I build houses in scale 1/18 for my childrens and now need a to made another garage for the woody... Thanks I love the cars of this times....
Well I dont think any American here can tell you the meters . let me explaine the mertric system is about as popular as soccer in this country need less to say that people dont deal in meters ,centermeters or killows . The car is probley prety close to 16 ft

I just got into woodys. Original umbrella my goodness, just makes not want to drive this beauty. Tissue holder, wow. Wood headliner- impressive.
