This summer I was there for the first time and I'm still blown away by the size, selection and by the people working there. I'm coming for the grand opening!

Mr Thomann You are indeed beside Walt Disney of the Music Branch a genius which has built an economical wonder in Treppendorf. You deserve all respect since you are a genius! But if you are Walt Disney: who’s Donald and Daisy? Kris and Guillaume? Enjoying to visit you and buying @ Thomann!
It baffles me that guitar sales are at an all time high all over the world, but guitar music is nowhere near the mainstream.. can someone please explain this?
I think guitars based music is very popular .. think of Metallica and how many CDs they are selling.. many Rock and metal Bands. In the 80s Metal and hard Rock was Not so populär than These days. And Blues ist coming Back... And country as Always...
A lot of people just play as a hobby, or their music is on streaming platforms with small audiences. Personally, I don't think that's a bad thing. Art as a form of therapy or entertainment is perfectly valid. And I'm saying that as someone who has dropped a few grand on Thomann over the years...😅
Perhaps it's demographics. There are studies that many stop listening to new music at 30 and replay what they're already into. As a kid you're passionate about music and playing, but have limited income. By the time you've got a job/house sorted and have disposable income to buy the guitars you wanted as a kid, you're probably not the age group listening to mainstream anymore anyway - you're listening to older stuff.
It's probably a kind of Fetish! .... but also, every live band will have some guitarists. and there are many, many hobby players. Also, maybe guitars were important to the older generation when they were young and they have disposable income to buy them. It's an interesting question

Because the mainstream isn’t what most people want to hear and play. It’s what a few producers want to sell .
A lot of people just play as a hobby, or their music is on streaming platforms with small audiences.
