Harp Concerto in B Flat Major, Op.4, No.6 HWV 294 is one of the most popular pieces among Handel’s concertos. It evokes imagery of flowing streams in a valley or leaves rustling in the wind. Originally composed for the renowned harpist William Powell, this concerto was inserted into the performance of the oratorio “Alexander’s Feast” to refresh the audience’s mood. The technique of a single theme transforming throughout the entire work is used, with the lively theme from the first movement reappearing in the slower second movement .
이 곡은 헨델의 협주곡 중에 가장 인기 있는 곡 중의 하나이며 시냇물이 흐르는 계곡이나 나뭇잎이 바람에 산들거리는 풍경을 연상시킵니다. 헨델은 원래 이 곡을 당시 유명한 하프 연주자 윌리엄 파엘(William Powell)을 위해 작곡을 하였고, 오라토리오 “알렉산더의 향연”의 공연 중간에 청중들의 분위기를 환기시키기 위해 삽입된 곡입니다. 하나의 주제가 전곡에 변형되어 나타나는 기법이 사용되었는데 1악장의 화사한 주제가 느린 2악장에 다시 나타납니다.
