Legend has it the tabla was born 500 years ago in India when a larger, two-headed drum was dropped and broken into two pieces. Modern ethnomusicology shows evidence of tabla as far back as 13th-century Persia. Either way, it wasn’t until about 50 years ago that Western ears were introduced to the sound, thanks largely to George Harrison and The Beatles. Before then, Western audiences got a taste of tabla thanks to maestro Ali Akbar Khan’s landmark 1955 album Music Of India: Morning And Evening Ragas, the first Indian classical music album released in the West, featuring Chatur Lal on tabla.

I absolutely loved the solo at the end - so smiley and not show-offy.
I love the way Tabla drums sound.
Danny Carey sent me here
I had been wandering what this drum sound was that I had heard in one of Tool's shows
Danny also sent me here
Danny doesn't play an actual tabla. It's just electronic drum pads.
Yea not live but he does play real tablas
He’s actually quite the master on tabla and the samples he plays are his own. So technically he is playing them. And the drums he triggers them with can play 9 Edge zones and 4 in the center. Others have 7 center zones. And 7 of those. So hardly is it diminishing his capabilities.
The drums are so quality. Just the way one hit rings for so long is like asmr
Asmr little kid fad
do you know what it means? also ive been hearing 'asmr' for like six years@@kishascape
Absolutely love this! Debates on getting a dhol or tabla for my son and I to learn but you sold me 👏🏾🙏🏾
Tabla will be best because it's the most complex among percussion instruments and after learning tabla learning other percussion instruments will be much easier
Great tone!

I have two different sized tabla's with my drumset. You're not kidding about how expressive it is.
Also expensive
what an interesting instrument. you basically hear this in EVERY indian song lol
Nice videos
My drone is tuned really low and does not have this higher pitch. I put bigger sticks in the lower drum and have them slung all the way down to create maximum tension.
It's still sounds too low. Should I put in bigger sticks?
oh it's the same drums in lethal lava land in mario 64
lol it was always my favourite level because of that
Yours are tuned very nice, mine aren't as high as yours

Tabla, The most awkward un ergonomic percussion instrument ever invented. I think the original inventor of the tabla was deliberately trying to induce carpal tunnel syndrome.
It doesn't cause carpal tunnel at all, if you played the instrument you would understand. The fact that this method of playing is thousands of years old, improved generation after generation shows it is here to stay.
If you cannot play it atleast don't diss on it... And no it doesn't cause carpal tunnel people play it for years.... It's just that you are a weak ass hater
@@spatialanomaly3708 Nicely put.
