    I've seen the resistor data on the chip data sheets, but I've never seen anyone actually change one. Good job! It must take a steady hand for that soldering work.

    I think it's more crucial if you measured the V between the battery terminals rather than at the incoming port of the charging circuit/power adapter. I'd opt for the charger which will give a 4-4.2v over the battery terminals. I'm not too sure but I had the impression that most li ion batteries last longer with a nominal 500mA charging current. Anyhow, batteries are dirt cheap nowadays.

      Usually manufacturer gives you info about charging current for example 1C to 1.5C or even more for high current cells. So for low capacity cell 500mA is ok but for higher even 2A is ok.

    I want to increase the output current of usb port on battery bank, right now it is 5v 1amp, there is also a barrel output of 8.4v 1.5a, 8 charging barrel port of battery bank is 12v. So i guess it is easily capable of 5v with 2or 3amp output. If it also as easy as just to replace resistance, i will love to know. I have 3 of these banks lying around, but to slow for current devices

    this method worked for me but in the excitement, I reversed the polarity of the battery in the final assembly which causes the failure of IC
    now this module only charge the battery but doesn't give output

      You'd need a voltage step up (you can probably buy one for cheap on aliexpress or something) but consider that you'll lose amperage according to V=RI also I'm not entirely sure how the whole circuit would take about having to provide the required amperage, honestly you're better off buying the proper charger

      Usually yes. You have to identify charging chip and find its datasheet in the internet to find out more details what to change in the circuit.

    charging a single 18650 at 500mah is better than charging at 1A.. charging at 500mah the battery will hold a charge better and the battery itself will last longer. charging at 1A will speed charging but it puts strain on the battery

    What's the device to measure the usb current and voltage?

  • @cmj20002
    @cmj20002 8 років тому

    I have noticed that these modules when used to charge something like a phone have a difficult time maintaining or even reaching 5 volt output. Mine is usually at 4.95. I think they would do a better job of charging if they were closer to 5.1 volts. Is there a way to increase the output? I don't have a schematic to look at.

    • @cbm80amiga
      @cbm80amiga  8 років тому

      Are sure that it is really fault of power bank module? Usually voltage drops are generated by poor quality cables. I haven't notice any voltage issues in my case. But even 4.95V is quite ok because phone charging unit decreases it to 4.2-4.3V depending on lithium battery used.

    • @cmj20002
      @cmj20002 8 років тому

      It is a power bank module. It charges the internal battery and puts out current to charge a cell phone. They are kinda cheap and I think lacking quality, as the one I mentioned doesn't power up anymore. The heat from charging must have damaged it.As far as the cord I have used many. I also have a battery bank with 4 cells that works just fine and does put out 5.24 volts when charging.

  • @midhunmanojs8831
    @midhunmanojs8831 4 роки тому

    • @cbm80amiga

      Step up chip doesn't support such conversion. But there are special modules which upconvert

    • @cbm80amiga

      It is 6th pin - the chip on the video is upside down, look at the dot at the chip - this is 1st leg.

    i have a olight 3400mah battery protected, but for some reason it's giving me 1 full charge on my galaxy s2 which has a 1850mah. when I plugged it into charge the battery, the red light seems to be always on. over 5hrs now. Do you know why I can't get more charge from that battery?

    • @cbm80amiga
      @cbm80amiga  9 років тому

      ccfilms The reason is obvious - this is fake capacity.

    • @wulf659
      @wulf659 9 років тому

      ccfilms not only is your battery prob not 3400mah, its only 4.2 volts fully charged and it gets boosted to 5v to charge your device so you will lose some capacity ie if your battery was twice the capacity of your device you might get 1.25 to 1.5 charges of your device.

    • @cbm80amiga
      @cbm80amiga  9 років тому +1

      ccfilms Also take into account that capacity in lab is measured by discharging to 2.5-2.7V, but most power bank's step-up converters cut off the output at 3.0-3.1V, so actual used capacity is smaller.

    • @cbm80amiga
