I can always learn from you! This helped me immensely on a cake I just did today. I'll share the pic with you on FB. THANKS Mary!
Thank you for sharing, so elegant 😍
Gorgeous cake
So pretty! Thank you for your time and generosity to share. Greetings from Texas.
Hi Texas!! I love that state;)
Thank you for sharing your gift with the world. A lot of techniques I always wanted to learn i get to be taught by you. I am grateful. From Nigeria
That makes my heart happy to hear;) I learned a lot with youtube also, so I really enjoy doing the same for others;)
😍😍😍😍
Omg this cake is gorgeous ! It seem like when I splatter it goes on everything but the cake. I wonder should I get a different brush! I love it though
You're a star honey 🌷
From today I'll watch your tutorials and do a of learning👌🏾👌🏾
What I like about you is that you do a lot of talking then I get to know what I should do and what I should avoid 👋🏽
Thanks a lot for making my work to become easier, because I have not been in this industry for more than a year and I didn't even go for a baking and decorating Course. Baking have been a passion for me since from childhood 😉
Oh I love you!! That is so nice for you to say;) Now I can tell my quiet husband that my talking is doing some good 👍 I only did some Wilton classes and mainly learned from tutorials too. And that was 13 years and one business ago. Thank you for watching my tutorials!
@@sophisticakesbymary you're most welcome
I love you more
Thanks for everything
God bless you
It looks nice. I love that look. I did one similar with a plastic spoon. Kinda messy but so easy anyone can do it. This is also something that looks hard but it is very doable.
I will have to watch that!
@@sophisticakesbymary it is very boring. trust me. You aint missing much.
@@TheFancyCakery Oh I don't know about that:)
You so honest Mary. Thank you for teaching newbies like me. Am thinking of starting my cake business at home but I don't know yet. Many things are going through my mind like who will buy and so on. But nevertheless, I will keep watching your videos. Love from a Nigerian.
Thank you;) I know it is scary and I always worried that people would stop ordering, but they didn't! To the point where it actually became too much and that is why I work at a bakery now instead of keeping mine open. But I say give it a go! It was very rewarding at the same time. I also have kids that want to spend time.with me too, so that decided it for me. I did it for 13 years, and they kept ordering;) I would just suggest that you don't overwhelm yourself. I wish you all the luck!
@@sophisticakesbymary thank You so much Mary. God bless you always, kids and business is not always easy that's why am thinking of starting at home so u can do both together but am just still scared as I don't even know where to start from Lol. But thank you, hopefully someday soon, I will be able to start and grow like you.
You will;) You have the right mindset already. Start small ( friends and family) and soak up as many tutorials as you can. I am self taught too. Besides some Wilton classes;)
@@sophisticakesbymary thank you so much Mary. God bless you immensely.
This is so gorgeous. Can this be achieved with royal icing?
Which brand and color did you use for the gold I love it
Your work is amazing! Do I freeze the cake or just put it in the fridge prior to adding the texture watercolors?
Thank you;) you can do either. The fridge just takes a little longer for the buttercream to firm up. About 20 minutes vs 10 in the freezer.
@@sophisticakesbymary thank you! Last question I am going to attempt to do this with black and white and splashes of rose gold. Could I follow your technique adding white on black or would it look weird since black is darker? Thank you for responding!
@@crystalbowie8152I think that would be stunning! I love those colors together. As long as it is set, you should be fine!
Do you think you could do this technique to a semi naked cake? Id love to see the painterly quality on a more distressed looking canvas
Thank is a very interesting idea!
That
What kind of blue shade are you using for the first one?
I think I used mostly navy with a touch of royal just to brighten it a bit.
is the cake refrigerated after applying the water color effect?
Yes I do typically refrigerate after most steps.
What are you spraying on the cake and why?
You are probably seeing me spray water. It helps me smooth out the buttercream;)
How do you make the gold paint?
I mix Gold luster dust with Everclear.
