  • 2 for 1 test flight of brand new (Mexico made) Wills Wing Sport 3 155 and Dave Aldrich base bar camera mount (1 meter pole).
    All new gliders get a test flight before sale after re-assembly. They get dismantled to box as small as possible for shipping so we have to rebuild them and then test fly to make sure all is OK. Which it most certainly was on this glider! It's new owner is going to be very happy with it.
    I was clipped in just below middle of the weight range. The wind was blowing around 20mph dead onto the hill.
    I was pleased with the results using the Design by Dave (Dave Aldrich) camera mount. Despite not being able to reach the camera! Oh and apologies for Paul's chosen words when he found his rapid exit from holding my nose wires for launch blocked by the camera mount!
    Site: Rhossili UK (Wales)
    Harness: Woody Valley Libero
    Camera: GoPro Hero7 (ground shot from Sony ZV1)

    Longest hydration hose I've ever seen, could give a drink to another pilot like an in-flight tanker.

      Yeah I really need to cut that down! The trouble is, if I fly with a different harness the bladder sits much further away so I need the longer hose... 2 hoses is the answer!

    Looks like a solid glider. Might have to order a Mexican made sail for mine =)

    Thanks, I have 200 hours from 20 years ago, now I'm 58 and looking to return to the sport after years of sailplanes. I flew / borrowed a WW Eagle 10 years ago and managed that ok for a couple of hours of ridge soaring. Wondering if this would suit me, I'm primarily looking for handling, for coastal for a few hours, but don't want to grow out of something too quickly. The Falcon 4 is another option, but worried I may want to upgrade quickly.

      Where do you live Michael?
      The Sport 3 is all the glider that most pilots will ever need. Handling as easy as a Falcon (bit more speed though hence newbies still being better on a Falcon) and almost as much performance as a U2. Because the handling is so easy, the performance it does have is more useable. So you will see in most sport class comps the S3 is regularly placing better than the higher performance gliders.
      Falcon is huge fun. I love flying them. But speed is the issue and this also kills your into wind glide ratio. Although look at my other videos and you will find one of a triangle XC on a Falcon. A pilot who is willing to push themselves doesn't have to grow out of a Falcon. There is always the challenge to fly further on one!

      @@petermontgomery6498 I'm in Devon Peter, thanks for the info, I'm leaning towards the S3 but would like to see one. I may also see if I can fly something (anything) this summer first to see how it feels again? i just had a failed attempt at paragliding down here and sold the wing last year (T4), just wasn't my thing really as I like rigid wings.

      @@michaelgadd5109 drop me an email. Being in the UK I can help you out for sure. I often lend returnees an easy glider to get them back in the saddle and then when up and running again they can buy something more suited to their long term goals. info@flypureair.co.uk

    Pete, Sail looks clean and well made on the Mexico version too. Flying Supine on mine you can really inspect every detail and it looks perfect at all VG settings.How do they do that? 🙂

      I'm really impressed with the sail perfection on this Mexico made glider. But then, they are computer cut and marked up so it should be high quality. The two gliders I have had over from Mexico both have perfectly symmetrical batten ends when set for correct tension so the sail is mm perfect dimensionally. As for howbl they get such a clean sail, I think it is half the quality of the design and half the quality of how it is put together.

    How far from London via car?

    • @petermontgomery6498
      @petermontgomery6498  2 роки тому

      Depends where in London... But around 5hrs or so. It is a long way! Back in the pioneer days of HG folks used to make that trip regularly. Rhossili is a BIG site with lots of lift and lots of space. No soaring skill is needed to stay up there!

      You need a school first to learn to fly a hang glider. A quick google and there are a couple of places advertising in India so have a look.

    Replace the GoPro with a 360 deg camera and a remote so you don't need to reach it. World of difference.

    • @petermontgomery6498
      @petermontgomery6498  2 роки тому

      Yes. But world more expense and takes more time to edit as well... I am tempted though. Any first hand experience recommendations on what one to go for?

      I have an Insta 360 One which I've only used on my bike so far. Ask Gordon Rigg? The camera companies bring out a new model practically every year so you should be able to get one a generation back for a lot less.

      I been leaning towards a 360 cam myself as I keep switching my GoPro on and off to conserve battery and then setting it properly on the pod.

    • @JonMcG
      @JonMcG Рік тому

      I think these 360 cameras have a way to go , still has that "Fishbowl `' distortion , obscures depth perception , and in most cases , ruins the video . I still use the std GoPro . My suggestion , use 2 cameras , a pilot camera and a forward facing camera mounted at the Kiel .

      Phew, at least you know to skip right on by my videos in future to save on any further disappointment! 🤣
      This video was not a review. It was a dealer test flight of a new glider before hand over to the customer. At some point I might do a review but the headline items you are asking for are better in a written review as you cannot show such things in a video... There are plenty of written reviews of the Sport 3 you can find if interested.
