Super Mario RPG Smithy Battle Remix

I am kind of glad that Smithy and some of the RPG big bosses have not re-appeared for cameos in Mario spin-off games. It helps to maintain their mysterious and threatening nature as compared to the more "silly" baddies of the series. Smithy was the first "uber bad guy" of the franchise, so bad that even your arch rival Bowser teamed up with you to fight it, hailing from a unknown dimension beyond the classic Mushroom Kingdom with an even more obscured origin and ultimately perusing a darker goal of wanting to flood the peaceful cartoony world with weapons of mass destruction. I think a bit of that charm would be lost if he ended up appearing in a tennis match or driving a go-kart.
But as a boss battle in a Smash game perhaps? I would be all over that kind of cameo.

I'd love it if the Smithy we see (and hear) here was in a new Mario RPG (a more serious one, like the first, as opposed to M&L style humorous) He shouldn't be the last boss, but rather...the last boss aught to 'revive' him-as Mario and crew go traversing through some dark abyssal wasteland, suddenly the ground splits at their feet, and a broken, battered Smithy claws his way out; his eyes red with fury-burrrning...seeeething...bereft of logical thought, vengance drawing him to madness....

@321cheeseman actually, paper mario was originally being developed by Square-enix as a sequel to super mario rpg. However, square signed a contract with sony in the middle of development to only publish games for the playstation, so square left the game with nintendo, who handed it to intelligent systems to finish.

@MasterBuu Yeah, I get what you mean with that, I'm that same way with people that think Sephiroth/Squall/ all other Final Fantasy people come from Kingdom Hearts....That's not a bad idea either, though, except I have to wonder, if they've been 'off' since the beginning, and the game kinda points it out, wouldn't it be weird if it just kinda..never showed up again till way later, then only to some people? I mean...what would happen if you never did that side quest, would you just never know?

@MasterBuu Well, yeah, but...to me that's kind of a nihilistic way of seeing it-there hasn't been an original idea for centuries then, if you look at that way. Maybe it's not PURELY original, but if it's different enough from other stuff, that's good enough for me.
And, to be honest, part of me has kinda gotten sick of that 'zero to hero' RPG thing, it's not a bad thing, really, just happens way to often-that's why, in this story I'm writing, the main character starts out bad ass already :D

super mario rpg 2: revenge of smithy
it is a normal day on the star road and suddenly geno it sent off bouncing to the kingdom nad sees smithys face in the sky he has created a weapon called the chain and it turns anything that has made a wish into a machine if caught so mario, luigi, mallow, geno, peach, and bowser go off to the star road to stop smthy but he not only breks the star road but keeps the peices to himself making the remnants of exor the only way to get to smithy they must find it

I believe he is a mechanical monstrosity that was formed on the whim made by the 7 stars. With the ability to craft even his own image it's possible he was able to craft himself from scraps to begin with. Obtaining the power of the 7 stars, however, he bacame an even stronger form of blacksmith. Thus is Smithy.
