    This is the second video on this craftsman LT2000 riding mower. We discovered on the first video that it needed a new carburetor and spindles replaced for the mowing deck. Lets put on our new parts to see how well we can get this almost 20 year old riding mower running, driving, and cutting.

      I really do appreciate that. I don’t try to gouge on prices at all. I’m hoping for $600-700 for this machine. I try hard to show the work I put into these machines. The videos are just a snippet of the whole process. Thank you for the continued support.

    Dude, people don't know how much work this is. You're earning it. I used to fix cars up and sell them here and there as a hobby. I repaired anything that was and could have been an issue, then detailed them, just like you. I bought a craftsman lt2000 from my neighbor for pretty cheap and went through it. Man, that thing mopped the floor with me. It's a good mower now, but i had to go through it. You're earning every dollar, dude. Honestly, i wonder how much you could make for all that time invested?

    Same mower I have. You must have disengaged the reverse shut-off while blade engaged feature 😉. Also, there’s a nipple on the air intake tube you touch at 7:51 of the video. Mine has a hose from there to nipple at top of fuel tank. That could allow dust entry after the air filter. You might want to plug that up or restore the hose. Great work, looks like new!!!

    Hey I like your videos.Great content.You are very lucky to get some old machines for parts.In our area it is hard to find old machines for parts because like you say parts are getting very expensive if your able to find them anymore.In our area in Wisconsin I think most people just keep there old machines running until there complete junk and worthless.

    Nicely done Alex, it turned out great! You are definitely more thorough than me when it comes to cleaning! Good idea on doing a complete deck rebuild, in my experience the spindle bolts on MTD mowers almost always come put without breaking. The same can't be said for AYP ones though. This will be a great mower for someone and hope you make good money on it.

    • @freedommowers420
      @freedommowers420  7 місяців тому +1

      That’s good to know on the MTD decks. I’ve only done a couple and had bad luck, but yes I know the AYP are bad as well. This one turned out pretty nice although it was in decent shape to begin with. Just needed going through. I hope repairs are going good your way. It’s been tough here working in the cold.

    I have a real softspot for Craftsman mowers and Craftsman tools in general. It's becoming harder and harder to be a fan as their products progress forward. I had a new one as my first in 1991 it was a GT1000 maybe?? It's was a bigger mower with the same motor that John Deere used to use am 18 Kohler with and oil filter. This was all pretty cutting edge in 1991 and I think I paid between 11-1300 for it and it lasted for years! My Dad bought it off me after I was done with it and it lasted him (mowing 2-3 acres weekly) until he was too old to takle care of things and moved into a mobile home park. I went on to purchase one of the green lt1000s with the automatic ground contral transmission I LOVED that thing! It was a like a sports car compared to others of its time. It laste me 20 yrs and I gave it to a young church member and it didn't last another two seasons. smh says more about it\'s use thanm the mower itself. I'd like to have another one to piddle with one day. I have a friends Black kand Yellow Craftsman now that I'm in the process of redoing for them. I cann't believe how expensive things are for them anymore! You're totally right to have a small mower graveyard to rob parts from. whew!

    • @freedommowers420
      @freedommowers420  7 місяців тому +1

      Absolutely!! The older craftsman truly were built to last. Just like their tools as well. The quality has declined tremendously over the last 20 years. My favorite riding mowers are the lt1000’s with the hydro drive. Very easy to maintain, and great mowers.

    I have an even later model craftsman riding mower and she has been a jewel all carb, alternator, fuel filter blades belts. However now she won't start, battery is fully charged, spark plug is new And yes it has gas and oil. But I can't even get a click when I turn the key. Was running a few days ago.

    Great vid as always; you got lucky on that new Nikki style replacement carb working right off. On my flips, if the engine came with a Nikki, it gets retro fitted with a Walbro knockoff, have just lost faith in Nikki knock offs and don’t even waste time anymore trying to clean the OEM Nikki’s on those Inteks.

    • @freedommowers420
      @freedommowers420  7 місяців тому +1

      Honestly I’m done messing with the Nikki carbs after this one. Still had issues with it after filming. I would rather run walbro any day of the week. Easy to clean and adjust. No more flooding issues.

    • @chadfield376
      @chadfield376 7 місяців тому

      @@freedommowers420 The only problem I have had with cleaning a super corroded Walbro is I strip the main jet trying to take it out with a flat tip screw driver instead of the actual jet tool. If I can get that jet out, I can generally save an OEM Walbro but if not, I will spring and buy the $25 Amazon version of the B&S 799728 and call it good. A lot of small engine mechs will knock those Troybilt/MTD style 42in mowers but like you I have found they are easy to refurbish/recondition and if taken care of are a good mower for home owner use:-)
