Thank you Satori! I have old cs6 and need these older videos. You are helping me SOOOO much. Looking forward to learning from the best. I'm striving to be an Illustrator guru like you! God bless you!
You have transformed my work - I design crochet patterns and this is a game changer for me. Not a Illustrator trained so this was a revelation. Will now look up all your other videos.
Oh my God😱 why you can't uploaded this tutorial some days before 😜😜 It's really amazing and excellent tutorial and nowadays it's very helpful and useful for my projects. Thanks for the core of my heart sir 😇😇☺☺
There are many ways to do the same thing in Ai, and I simply decided to teach some things about the rotation tool. You can also do it in the appearance panel... but again, today I didn't decide to teach that
Ah, you wanna teach/explain every single tool in Illustrator. I use Illustrator for about 15 years - and I have to admit, there are tools I've never used before. (Or once in a years, like the diagram tool)
Yeah I wanted to explore something that many or most people have never used before. There are many ways to achieve these kind of effects, another is to use the live drawing mirror technique, which I will explore next week :)
If you turn the slice into a clipping mask your shape doesn't have to 'perfectly meet the edges of the slice' which is time consuming and quite an inefficient way to teach people.
Nice tutorial. You explained it in a very professional way. I don`t get the 3:07- 3:16 part . When turning off the isolation mode of the slice the part which I draw doesn`t repeat. Could you help?
Tutorial is awesome. You are best teacher and always bring something new for us. I am using illustrator and when i draw any shape stroke size become automatically very much thick at "1" . I am unable to reduce the thickness of stroke.. How can I resolve this issue?
Hey there, try this out Set your preferred Fill & Stroke.Open the Graphic Styles panel; Window > Graphic Styles.Click the New Graphic Style button.Hold Alt/Opt key and drag the new style onto the default style. (The defaultstyle is the one having a miniature Fill/Stroke symbol in the lower left corner). Thanks for the kind words man
there is even a cooler way to achieve effects like that.. you can apply transform to a whole layer, set it ie: 6 copies rotated 60º degrees. Draw a a circle or a square somewhere and then use the draw inside tool so the shape can act as an artboard
There are at least 5 ways I know how to make this lol, but I felt the slice grid technique was just really cool and interesting. I am going to explore the Live Drawing technique next week
hello Sir, First of all, i am a really great fan of your videos. I learn alot of them. Thank you so much. Second, i was following this video but i have trouble at 2:24. I can't see that 3 dots using alt and options key either. I am using CS6.
Hey thanks for the great feedback on my videos :) Firstly make sure you have pressed 'R' for the rotate tool, then drag the icon and click once, then you hold down the alt or option key, and click again. Hope that helps
one issue: after the graphic is done. i tried to duplicate my shape(or what i made in the end) and tried to change the colour. but it wont. fill doesnt work. why? i even tried ungrouping it all and tried to fill colour individually.. wont !! ?? please can help me out ?
Wow, never thought to do this way. I use a very complex process that might be prior to CS6 version. I start drawing the area, reflecting the layer, then reflecting the reflection and then I draw. But align all is painful. Thanks again o/
I tried this last night (absolute beginner) and could not find the polar grid option, the Line segment tool does not give me another options other than a straight line? I've googled, gone to help, search on line. Is there a keyboard short cut or another way to find it? I love creating mandalas, I draw them by hand, thought I would try a digital one, much faster.
Right click on the line segment tool in the menu to the left and a dialogue box will open allowing you to select another tool, including the polar grid tool. You can do this for any tool that has a small triangle in the bottom right corner of the button. The program groups similar tools together under one button.
I guess you can not do this in CS2 because after clicking the icon to Exit Isolation nothing happens. I did smilar tutorials to make Mandalas making radios in other ways and I had no problem but with this Grid the drawing simply won't reproduce itself in the other sections. Unless there is other way for CS2 that I don't know. - I want to add that you explain very well other tutorials showing the Polar Grid are confusing they go so fast and I couldn't understand what I was missing, now I know, the Isolation step.
@Acma, do you mean using different applications, or do you mean in illustrator? I don't see any easier way to make radial designs other than drawing it once and have it automatically appear as many iterations as you want, like this, can't get much easier (in illustrator)
Hey Vaishnavi, I've never owned a HP before, but looking at the specs it looks like it should be able to run it fine, but may get laggy with large and complicated files. Try doing some more research on Google about it
Say I want to create a "shine" or "light ray" effect with DIFFERENT lines. Maybe 4 different lines. How can I do this? Your tutorial shows the effect with just one object.
yes lol, I lived between Thailand and Laos for 10 years, and I can speak Thai (although my reading and writing is quite bad) - I lived mainly in Hua Hin

Why dont you use the „transform“ effect? Is much more easy, and you can rotate/duplicate in one single step
There are many ways to do the same thing in Ai, and I simply decided to teach some things about the rotation tool. You can also do it in the appearance panel... but again, today I didn't decide to teach that

Your color choice.🤩😍 Love it. How can we choose professional color combinations?
Search into Google 'Adobe Colour' or you can use the Illustrator colour guide 👍
@@SatoriGraphics I know that. But they also suggest color combinations? color.adobe.com

This is great! If only Adobe would put photoshop's new symmetry tools in Illustrator! then all of this wasn't even necessary.
There is kind of a symmetry tool called Live Drawing, I will make a video next week on it 👌
Nice hope this tool is in my version
It should be in your version, well I actually I don't know lol.. I hope it is !

check if you defined the slice as a symbol like he explained. otherwise it won't work
Thank you for this video. But there are better and easer ways to create sutch designs.
There are at least 3 other ways yeah, but this tutorial was showcasing this function, not the best way to design such a design. Thanks
