I think a lot of the criticism she's gotten lately has been due to the indefelity (cheating on her husband with a wicked costar who was also married man who just had a baby and breaking their marraige etc etc). I think she looks gorgeous and her voice is incredible. The above doesn't sit so well with me though, and I think that's what she refers to with her lyric "who's **** I ride", but I think the situation was a bit more complex than that. Having your life under a microscope, expecially when you make mistakes / do bad things can't be easy, so I feel for her in regards to that. I'm not the type to go spreading hate online, and I don't think anyone should be, but I can understand her fans who look up to her being disappointed at some of her choices recently.

The thing I think a lot of people choose to ignore on purpose is that said wife said they broke their marriage off multiple months prior. And Ariana's divorce was also filed at least a month prior.
He broke up his own marriage. He owed his wife loyalty, not Ariana. She broke up her marriage. But she’s not responsible for his marriage and his child. He needs to be held accountable for his actions. Stop blaming her

"she looks like she's trying to sing like Xtina aguilera" "thats not her real voice" then we have sweetener; She stayed in her chest voice because she was singing trap, but in the tour she show us she can mix like a legend. what did they say? "Her voice has declined, she is losing her touch" Positions arrived, Dude she belted the whole album, gave us from her lowest note to the highest. what did they say? "is her worst job, her voice sounds tired". And know she was working in a broadway style again, This is ariana real escense, the light powerful blending tone. Thats her voice being clearer and ethereal. That's her best version. So, yeah, She is healthy now.
Yes, it’s a new different sound for her. Many don’t love it. But I do! I love the song and its message. She’s very straightforward and tells the haters/critics exactly like it is. At the end of the music video, she doesn’t wait to listen to the critics opinions, because she doesn’t care. She does whatever she wants and is who she wants to be regardless of what anyone thinks. Majority of people believe what is said on the internet. If an entire news outlet had to backtrack and admit that their sources were lying, you know they aren't reliable. ‘Yes, and?’ mv exactly portrays the situation where critics give the worst and most destructive critiques about Ariana, but after meeting her and witnessing her art, they leave happy and impressed.

@@bluwu1586 I agree, the hate train is getting worse. Unfortunately, that's how society is. Despite all the hate and negativity, Ariana has remained positive and I admire her for that. This song to me is a reminder to not let the world make you hard and to not let the bitterness steal your sweetness. Doing so allows them to change you.

*You should react to some of her live sweetener tour performances...This super light approach was introduced then (imo)...you could tell this method made vocals way easier for her..she was doing things that I've never heard her do with such ease before..like damn near every vocal preformance was unbelievably effortless for her (just like in this song)*

I give Ariana props here because it must be hard vocally to transition from Glinda back to her sound as a pop artist. I hear little glimpses of Glinda with her lighter tone. I love the speaking part of the song, she has a gentle speaking voice.

I loved the vocal delivery in this song: super light, super bright. And I think this reflects the whole vibe of the song/video: she looks very lighthearted, and “weightless” like she doesn’t care about all the negativity in her life but she just wants to move on.
Also I think the diction has frankly improved, the vocal agility has improved as well (as if it needed an improvement in the first place), the vibrato is immaculate as always.

For me it was actually her wearing real fur and leather, ateast that's one/those are two reason/reasons.

Some of the clothes she wore that include animal products are:
- different pairs of UGGs
- leather jacket, skirt and gloves
- fur coats
- Leather Over knee boots
etc.
She does wear fake fur and fake leather too but has been seen qearing animal skin as clothing /accessories which is not cool.
And me as a vegan activist and someone who loves that Ari spread animal kindness finds it sad that she does stuff like this. :/
I mean in one of her most recent TikToks she is seen wearing UGGs, so it's not like she only did it 10 years ago.
Love your analysis of the voice range and changes throughout the years. It just surprised me that you didn’t mention Madonna when it came to sound, but mentioned Beyoncé and Lady Gaga. At the end of the day they all take something from what Madonna has crafted throughout the years and “yes, and?” has a lot from Vogue!

Ariana Grande is in her vocal prime. Her voice has ZERO flaws right now, everything in her range is fully supported and her head voice has been elevated to a whole other level. The enunciation is also INCREDIBLE!!!
Her tone became lighter tho and sounds different in her upper mixing but that’s clearly because all of the INSANE classical opera and broadway training and switching from Glinda back to her Pop sound must’ve been very hard

Between the costumes, the choreo, the background, the set, and the climactic point in the song being so belty, she’s definitely giving “I’ve been in theatre rehearsal for the past two years” ❤ And I love that she still kept the super high whistle tones we know her for in the very beginning

As an Ariana fan I definitely think she directed this song to the fandom as well. Some fans can be so critical and hostile towards other people but most especially Ariana (some don’t even realize they are). Sadly, they think just cause they’ve followed her for so long they have more of a say on who she is or what she does. So her clapping back at the fandom is warranted.

I absolutely LOVE the new direction she's going. I am SO excited for the album. I also think her sound has a little bit of that theatrical flare to in. And so I think at least this song, if not the whole album, is a little affected by her Wicked project and the higher clear notes could come from re-recording her old album. Idk but that's the theory I have. Regardless, I'm absolutely here for all of this !

Ariana in her homewrecking era
I think one of the most interesting themes, or at least from my perspective:
Ari is consistently shocking/ impressing/pleasing the "critics" with her art ("critics" obvi not meant to be literal critics, but instead ALL of us), b/c if she's not in the middle of doing that, she is torn apart.. (potentially negatively affecting her livelihood, so it's not as simple as "ignore and move on")..
*BUT* then once she's done and has impressed everyone paying attention or "in the room", she has to do it all over again.. almost leaving her in this perpetual cycle of having to prove herself and her artistry.
I mean dang, even in a song where she's telling everyone to mind their own business and to leave her be with her own, this is still such a major theme. and I guess in order to have a career as a performer, it does end up necessary for there to always be some bit of the artist impressing/proving themselves to their audiences.
