- A 97-year-old World War II veteran and former paratrooper jumped from a plane in France on Wednesday, 75 years after first jumping in Normandy during D-Day.
Tom passed away in November of 2022 at the age of 101. He lived and gave more than most all of us. His spirit now soars.
R.I.P. honorable soldier. You gave so much for our great country and we could never pay you or those who give their lives back for your bravery and courage. Thank you sir for your service 🇺🇸😞🙏.

That’s depressing as hell.
yeah looks like he went through hell that time.
Considering that his last jump had flak guns firing all over the place, this looks like a vacation
at least this time no guns were shooting at us*
So crazy to think the last time he made that same jump was one of the scariest days of his life and he survived it to do it again as a hero near the end of his life. This was so awesome to watch.
This was probably the second scariest day of his life. Doing a parachute landing at this age!
The most badass grandpa ever🎉😮
Thank you for being German
Just hope that he hadn't a traumatic memory issue, like, feeling again the Flak guns, or feeling sad about his brothers in arms with him in the plane that didn't make it.
Paratroopers on D-day were the thunderstorm of the free world of this time.

We should all have the utmost respect for this man. He jumped into absolute horror, to do it again for absolute joy!! Will we ever have another generation like this again....?

And whats the alternative? Not jump and get shot for treason?
@@Homer-je1pz
Yeah, umm, such a thing would not fall under treason. They didn't execute soldiers for such a thing. He would likely just be kicked out of the Airbourne Corps and made to be a regular trooper. It wouldn't be a Private Slovik situation; this wouldn't be desertion and certainly not treason.
He might get into trouble for disobeying a lawful command.

My great uncle Jim was a British tank commander during D Day. He was sitting on top of the lead tank with the top hatch open when a German anti aircraft gun, with its barrel lowered, sent a shell directly into the front of his vehicle. He was blown 30 foot in the air suffering extremely bad burns and landed in a ditch. His life was saved when a platoon of African / American soldiers found him later that day. He was so badly burnt and blackened from his injuries that the African American soldiers assumed he was one of their own and he later regained consciousness in an American field hospital! Amazingly he survived and subsequently lived well into his 80’s. Heroes

Those men were a different breed. If you'd ever met a WW2 Vet and shook there hand, it's like there bones are made of steel.
He was trained? Bro most 60 year olds would break if you landed on them like that. What a great spirit he was for being 97 and living out a historic moment in his life and our nations history. Wow just wow!
This war completely destroyed my grandfather mentally.
For me it is crazy that this man jumps from a similar plane over the same place.
I am glad that he can process his memories and emotions.
Yea even though we won and the justification for the war was viewed favorably, it was brutal, and I think the culture of the time, shunned weakness. I mean, this was a time when we were giving out death penalties for cowardice/desertion. A lot of the men just had to work it out on their own. American society quickly put the war in the rear view mirror. Must've been something else, man. Fighting a WORLD WAR in your teens and early 20's, then going from that to a safe, prosperous and sense of renewed society. My grandparents were one of many that were offered loans and special rates by Uncle Sam to buy one of many new homes, built in tracts with sidewalks, trees, a kind of early iteration of suburbs, and all of your neighbors were veterans and patriots. Of course, we know all of this coincided with the baby boom.
So it was just moved on from, and many vets had "PTSD" or thousand yard stares or whatever, but there was no place to put that. Vast majority successfully buried it, to focus on all their newfound responsibilities of Families, and new jobs to support their single income households.
God Bless your lineage and special thanks to you familial ancestry for helping securing me and mine, the opportunity to continue on in the greatest country in the world, of at least the last 250 years
I can't imagine the flashbacks and rush of emotions the vet had. I'm crying just watching this.
The way they all care about him and look at him like the country’s most precious treasure made me so happy and emotional!
He is.. him and millions of kids stormed that beach and won a war that if we lost our freedom might not be so free, so he is precious
They just didnt want him to get killed under their supervision. Lawsuit would destroy them in that case.

@@BLOrtega yeah it’s almost unbelievable
In world ww2 that’s all the equipment they had when they parachuted and when they go in battle
Brilliant absolutely brilliant bought a tear to my eyes. Well done Tom !thank you for my freedom! RIP SIR!
Just seeing this in June 2023, and I’m in tears😢he acted like it was no big deal😌
He was in his late teens or early twenties then, it was pitch dark, probably miles from where he was supposed to be, and the enemy was in every direction. Same old, same old for a paratrooper. Well done sir, well done!
Did you just applauded him for kolling my ancestors? You dirty bastard. Karma.

There's no way as a youth, 75 years ago he could have imagined this moment. Life is crazy.
That’s just mind blowing to thing about. Damn man...that’s deep.
Outstanding! Super cool video!
Thank you for your service!!!!
He's a treasure, as were they all. My father would have been 99 this year!!
"Sorry about the landing"
That's okay no body got hurt
*Or shot at mid flight*
Thats quite literally what he meant.
Bloody Key are you my brother
"It was worse in '44"
“Sorry about the landing “ “It’s ok. Nobody got hurt”. To most people, that landing is a basis for a law suit. This man was just thrilled to have taken this ride. Old school at it’s best.
its better than his previous landing, I cant imagine slowly falling from the sky with machine guns and cannons firing at me, salute to these beasts mad respect
well...kinda. That land was the grandpas fault, he ben his legs when you are strictly supposed to keep them straight. All in all who cares, he is safe and 97 years old lol he probably forgot half the stuff.
PureHits His legs were straight. They buckled under the weight. Not bad for 97 wouldn’t you say ?
Thats actually a pretty standard landing.
We just underestimate elderly peoples resilience.
@@tossedburrito9028 It wasn't "standard" when they landed on OHAMA BEACH though.
The smile on everyone’s faces is priceless. Good job. And thank you sir for your service in WWII
