I pulled a scroll rack and it made the value of my box skyrocket. I pulled a foil lithoform and omnath, a brazen borrower, got verdant catacombs as my box topper and got 7 mythical total, had a 300 dollar market value box and payed 100.
yeah but if they were all bombs that would just be terrible for the value of those cards. At least having the good ones be hard to get doesn't ruin their value. Plus some of the bulk stuff works great in your cubes.

For contrast, I opened a box the other day with a Cavern of Souls box topper, valuable rares and mythics (the few they are) and almost all list cards that are high value (I think I had maybe two that weren’t worth anything)
Hi Rudy, I can totally confirm that the box interior is designed very poorly. I just got my first box opened. The boosters in the middle department were turned sideways and the boxtopper was jammed in between boosters and box and was slightly bend on the outer side. Feels bad :(
Same. Ameoboid Changeling, Triplicate Spirits, Golgari Thug, Shuriken, Chemister's Insight, and Wizened Cenn. Pulled all 6 in my box as well. Got 2 other cards that are hits (Forced Fruition and Temporal Manipulation). Is there rarity to the list? As in, do some appear on the print sheet more often. This was too weird for me.

I like the gold stamped art cards. I wouldn’t be willing to pay more than $5.0 for a “signed” mythic or expedition art series card. Since they aren’t game pieces I couldn’t justify a premium.
Maybe the advertisement cards are indication the player base is growing from the crossovers. Might mean more collectors and long term demand card price increase
I actually would pay money for the signed art cards; They look nice and im tempted to run them as super full arts for the actuall cards where possible. None of the big sellers i use have them listed ATM and ebay is iffy with listings still as people are probably just trashing them or can't be stuffed to list.
You’re not the only planning to do that... and apparently some of them full art with the signature are on par with the foil extended art versions. That’s the case with most of the pathways

I love and hate how many Lorwyn block cards are on the List because its my favorite block, but with it being so old most people dont care about it, but there's also 12 year old timmys who werent even born when Lorwyn came out so theyre like oooo aaahhhh and buy up all the good cards on Tcgplayer, driving up the prices. personally, I think they should just bring back masterpieces. I loved the original expeditions & the Kaladesh inventions. They could have done better at Amonkhet, I know a lot of people did not like them for the small artwork frame but even they were okay in the end I think. Most importantly they were really exciting for me at least. I still have 3 sealed displays of Kaladesh at home and they are just going up because of the masterpieces. Even Amonkhet and Aether-Rebellion are rising despite their masterpieces not being as popular.
I think flesh and blood is the future now. Really, the game is fun, community and company are positive. Everythings well thought out and the art is spectacular. Just needs to solve the distribution problems.
i got a little lucky with my set booster box: Temporal Manipulation and Wrath of God from the list and an Omn4th. Rest was mediocre, including a Horizon Canopy as Boxtopper
It looks like the "list" cards replace the tip card/token, so my guess is they need to have that in there for weight purposes, otherwise you could weigh which packs had list cards in them (since they don't want to mess with the already complex common/uncommon stuff).
Rudy - thanks for mentioning the precarious placement of the boxtopper as often as possible. I simply hate this design. The only thing that needs to go wrong is for the box to be flipped in transit for a couple hours to cause some real bending or damage. Maybe Wotc is going with a cheaper box design for this 2020 experience
I lucked out on my set box - got an Akroma's Memorial. The number of mythics in the box was meh and Rudy's right, this product is a gamble. The list, for what it contains, has a few decent cards, but good luck getting them.
There have already been five sets on Zendikar. What they should have done is have a guaranteed card from one of the previous two Zendikar sets, a 50% chance for one from the three original sets and then a 25% chance of picking something from The List. Remove all five Zen sets from The List and replace them with cards of real financial value. The Zen and Zen 2 slots would just replace the two wildcard slots. All the wildcard slots have done is hose rares and mythics across the board, and actually make the packs worth less.
But why? When fools will drain out inventory regardless. Now they'll come out with probably 2-3 other products offering even MORE bulk garbage and people will buy that too. It's the sad truth.

Sedge Sliver was a $5-7 rare until timespiral remastered happened, now it's $0.25. Also now that some time has past there are 3 rares worth $5 and 10 rares that are worth $3 or more, as well as 2 uncommons worth $2. Amazon had a flash sale selling these for $79.99, I wish I would have gotten more then 1 box now. The worst box topper is $5, but 15 of them are $30+.

The way I figure it, we don't want a cheap standard environment, but a stable one. High variance is the issue, and designing it to increase variance with each set by adding auxiliary extra sets cards that rob the primary sets of their value. If they could just not design 98% of the cards to be terrible, to present a more even distribution of value throughout each rarity in the set, then the risk of getting screwed over would be lessened. Plus, with more cards being viable in and outside of standard, i.e. in demand, it would energise both the primary and secondary market. Some variance will naturally manifest itself as demand for each card will be slightly different, due to the current meta, and so on, but the lower the variance, up to a point, the better for consumers, and the better something is for consumers, the more of it they will buy, so it's also good for the producer. This whole model they're working with, slowly turning Magic into a glorified scratch-off ticket game, where 99.99999% of tickets produced are completely worthless, and most of the value is centred in 2-3 tickets at the top end of winnings, it will hurt both Wizards and the customer base in the end. It's cynical, short sighted and predatory, especially as you consider that a 200 dollar card, for WotC, costs as much to produce and distribute as a 2 cent card. They've fought so hard, for so long, to remove the gambling stamp from their game, and now, suddenly, they not only lean into the gambling angle, but throw themselves face first into it? I don't get it.

I got really worried because the second box was matching the list cards from my box exactly. It broke at the end, but I was 6/6 including the Shuriken that got mixed in when piles fell with the ameoba through the kithkin. List cards are either not as randomized as the rest of the pack, or this was a massive coincidence.
the list cards is almost identical to my pull except i got "odds, ends" instead of "workhorse"... and mine was almost identical to a box opening I had watched prior to getting my own box >_>

I opened a box of set boosters and the List cards were 6/7 the same as the first box. The only difference was the rare (mine had parallel evolution.) Looks like there must be a pattern.
opened my set box today and it felt far to orchestrated, i got exactly 1 of each color full art foil land, 30 art cards with out a duplication and exactly all 5 mini game cards, im not complaining about not getting duplicates just that chances doesn't feel like its playing a part when so many things are so guaranteed.

When rudy opens a pack, if the bottom card has a normal back and is not a token, it will be a card from the list.
Enjoyed the opening. Rudy, you can tell if there will be a set card in the pack if you see a mtg backing and not the token face. :)

the list cards is almost identical to my pull except i got "odds, ends" instead of "workhorse"... and mine was almost identical to a box opening I had watched prior to getting my own box >_>

I opened a box of set boosters and the List cards were 6/7 the same as the first box. The only difference was the rare (mine had parallel evolution.) Looks like there must be a pattern.

opened my set box today and it felt far to orchestrated, i got exactly 1 of each color full art foil land, 30 art cards with out a duplication and exactly all 5 mini game cards, im not complaining about not getting duplicates just that chances doesn't feel like its playing a part when so many things are so guaranteed.
well you said it... there at the end (yes i was watching till the end) it's Gambling - and as it's gambling it's probably best left for those who like to live that way and waste there money - these 'products' are just plain bad
Wizards is now packing their Pringles cards in Pringle boxes.
Them boxes are 30 pack box and the pack are 12 cards packs.
Feels kinda like Vegas, pretty, fun, but not cheap.

Rudy , I had problems with the foils, 22 miss cut foils, I'm wondering if anyone else ran into that issue.
