In the J8s hand do you think its possible that the reg pool commits a polarization error by jamming pair + Ac or even just Ac high combos too often vs river probe? Especially if pool doesn't check back NFD enough on turn, not sure what the data would say
I like block betting and betting to induce, what i struggle with is balancing with the correct number of bluffs in the small bet range. I think i probably over-bluff the small size a lot of the time. I do induce a lot though, it's a big part of my game, not sure if i'm doing it correctly but i do it often. I would never do it in the spot you did. I would tend to either just do it with the nuts or close to the nuts, something with decent showdown value that blocks the nuts, or a crap hand that blocks opponents calling range, which i assume is massive vs block, so i'd guess i end up overbluffing quite often. So basically i'm struggling with balancing the smaller size, vs players that i don't know how to exploit yet.
Gto is gto and confined to mathematical reality. People are emotional and do stupid stuff, no matter how close to optimal we attempt to play. In a theoretical gambling environment, if two players are playing an optimal strategy that is perfectly nash then all they are doing is sharing the rake. We don't get crushing win-rates by sharing rake....
Are you sort of conflating the fact they get to a spot with a wide range, and saying because they get there with a wide range, they're therefore bluffing with a wide range? But it's often the case people get to a spot with a wide range, and still don't bluff adequately... making the light call downs not good. Also that j8 hand, players have to be bluffing like a9o, with the 9 of clubs, k8o, etc... you really think people are not under bluffing this spot? Anyway it's supposed to be about a break even call in theory, but playing the game everyday and knowing tendencies, it tells me that it's probably worse than break even... due to the fact players aren't finding the above bluffs. His 65 in that hand is supposed to bluff too, so it's not like you caught him bluffing with kts or a hand that isn't supposed to bluff. If that were the case, then I think there's cause for celebration... but when someone bluffs with a hand they're supposed to bluff, you're not exactly gaining edge on them.
One of the driest poker vloggers. Brilliant informative and entertaining content.

Start by considering the value to bluff ratio that corresponds to your chosen betsize
I could do more block betting. I am going to give it some good consideration and try it out a bit more. Thanks for the content!
Hi Pete ! On the J8o spot, if Villain did raise like 22bb, what would you think about this ? 😏
love the AVGN thumbnail
enjoyed the humour on this one
Thank you for teaching us to crush that people. I never use block bets, happy to try tho
you called me out on the username & avatar description lol. "Reg" might be a stretch though.
Who is the best reg?
I have a label for the regs I feel that way about. Rhymes with poop head
Great tips!!!
the proof of the pudding is in the eating
There is a harsh quality to your mic that makes it fatiguing to listen to. Probably nothing wrong with the mic, but just how you set it up.
I totally agree! I have to put buffers around my BT speaker to overcome the harshness of the sound
I HAVE BEEN TARGETING GOOD REGS AND BARRELING EVERY TURN FOR INFO AND TO INDUCE SPAZZ
