I’m almost done with nodding my wii and my uncles wii in a similar fashion. I’ve used this video as inspiration for my final product. Thank you so much for the free emulator icons, they have such a clean look!
First of all, your USB Loader Menu is the coolest I have ever seen buddy, well done! Also, gotta say I learned a lot from reading the comments on here and your replies, you're a helpful man. Just wanted to ask you if you could tell me what dimensions you used on your Atari box art to get them to work with Wii2600 please. I can't seem to be able to do it. Thanks in advance.
Hey man thanks for sticking around and glad this channel is of some help. The Atari box art dims I have are 320 w X 210 h (pixels). Hopefully that works for you.
The Wii has obvious limitations, but even in 2023, its still an effective emulator/games machine. I feel I've been tinkering with my Wii for almost 15 years now. Played the OutRun port recently (via Cannonball engine), and its arcade perfect/superior (with 60fps option), and raised a huge smile. The OG Xbox and Wii have left a very lasting legacy.
Awesome to see this beast doing god’s work in today’s day and age! Soon, I’m going to be getting 10 32GB USB Drives that will hold many different games and software I plan to use to make my Wii very similar to yours. At first I was just going to use them to play the GCN Mario Parties, but after seeing this, I have been invigorated to do even more. (Thanks!)
Dude please do some tutorials of your own! The ones in the description are good but you took it to the next level with your finesse, touch, and execution of design and layout!
The whole process for me was trial and error. I left the tutorials I followed in hopes to get more people to customize their Wii to their ideal perfect look. That’s the fun part about this, man. Creativity :) Thanks for watching!
@@djd-cepticon7215 I have an old version of usb loader on mine and I'm slowly adding games. I need to update my apps and then work on the themes you're using.
Hey love the video, I've spent the entire weekend trying to get my Wii up to what youre doing. Got new SNES and N64 working all using their own programs - I'd love to be able to integrate them into usbloadergx how did you do that? Also are you using priiloader for to boot into usbloader? Would love to see a video on how to do the box art for N64 and ps1!
Hey thanks for watching and also for the sub! Eh, I'm really not good at tutorials, tbh. As far as the emulators working through USB Loader GX, I think I followed this tutorial gbatemp.net/threads/usb-loader-gx-pluggin-mod-need-help-showing-roms.515862/ . For your second question, yes, I changed a setting in Priiloader that allows me to directly boot into USB Loader GX. Lastly, I did some research and in order to get N64 box-art to work, you need to download the "Wii64 RICE" emulator. That version allows box-art. For PS1, for now I still think there's a way for box art to work.
Love the setup man. And what I really like is your box art for the emulators. Is there any chance of a future video for how to setup USB loader to show the path to use your own custom box art? And if it's not to cheeky will you set up a download file for your custom box art? I think they're awesome. 10/10
Hey thanks for the support! Actually you don’t really need to set up any particular path, if I’m understanding your question, correctly. You just need to locate your boxart folder i think called “covers”. It should either be on your sd card or external HD, depending on where you decided to have it saved. Next, find the png file of the emulator you want to change. Get the new png you want to use and rename it as the same file name you want to replace, and that should be it. I can upload what I have but it is only the emulators I showed. Just make sure to replace my file names with what you have on your emulator images. Hope this helps!
@@djd-cepticon7215 thanks man. Yea you've explained it perfectly, I'm going to try and set it up later (fingers crossed lol). Thanks again, stay safe and looking forward to future vids
I wonder what the Wii U and 3DS will be like since now their eshops are close. I hope they become as good as the Wii did. Also, that's a sick ass Wii and setup.
I love your Wii selection and have largely modeled my load out to match yours. Lately, I've been working on my cousin's Wii and doing the same. I bought him Gamecube controllers, classic controllers, and just need to buy him the Wii guns.
Thanks man! That’s really cool of you to do that for your cousin. I think the Wii is the most versatile console out there. Don’t forget to snag a few wheels and arcade sticks!💯
Thanks for watching as well as for the sub, man! I used to think the same about my Wii since I suck at modding, but just consider the Wii an ongoing project. It will get there!
I absolutely love the Wii and I'm currently using mine to play the SNES cult classic fighting game Weaponlord. When I'm not doing that I play Mario Kart Wii online or the latest version of Project M now known as Project+.
Weaponlord is dope! Going to include that in one of my next retro fighting game vids. I don't play Project M but glad it's still going strong! Thanks for watching!
@@djd-cepticon7215 Probably the main reasons to play the original Wii in 2020 are for the Mario Kart Wii mod CTGP Revolution and the Brawl mod Project+. All the other stuff is gravy. BTW, I really like the way you've updated your Wii console. Sorta looks like a high-end PC.
I bought a Wii from eBay for 90.00 USD, shipped, because my OG Xbox died, and with it at the time, went my families video gaming fun. My 4 years old daughter absolutely loves Mario 64, and even beat Smash Bros 64. I was going to start building a retro pieced PC out of a Xeon board and CPU, part by part off eBay, but had a really bad itch to emulate Nintendo GameCube and Wii games. I was leary of which video cards at cost level would pull this off, and finally got it out of my head to build up from the bottom and started pricing the Wii on eBay for buy it now rates. What I found was a bundle with one wheel, two wiimotes, one Chuck and four crappy games for 85.00 USD, shipped free. After taxes it was just over 90.00 USD. The included games are kids crazy golf (boring) Mini desktop racers (awful) Dangerous Hunt's (an unexpected lot of fun, but will put me to sleep when it's time for walking in circles) and COD 3, another unexpected lot of fun, but only on a short term basis because it's so easy to die in it. Anyone who reads this, let me know how I can get WiiFlow to run games. They all crash and I really want to play some Mario kart wii with the wheel.
Awesome story but sucks you lost you XBox setup. Luckily you’re motivated to mod a Wii, now. Btw that’s a good deal, but I’ve seen cheaper, believe it or not! As far as your Wiiflow issues, here is the most recent YT tutorial I could find (3 months old with 85k+ views), so I’m sure it will help you. I’d suggest starting the Wiiflow installation again from scratch and follow every step of that tut and you should be up and running in no time👌🏼
@@djd-cepticon7215 Hey thanks for writing back! Very cool! I wound up getting USB Loader Gx to run my Wii games and have sacked messing with WiiFlow. I don't know why, but I did the ciso installer again, for probably the hundredth time, and suddenly it didn't say that the USB was not initialized, and it booted Mario Kart Wii. It was the end of the night, Sunday. A little hail Mary attempt on my part. I read the Wii guide site again, did what it said AGAIN with beta whatever (2 I think?) and it worked! Very exciting and lots of fun now when I have time off from work. My Xbox, yes. I still love those modded Xboxes. I have one 1.0 unit without a hard drive, so I bought the chip months ago to flash the eeprom to get the number from it - to create a new hard drive for it, but it's just too much work right now, and I don't have any good soldering equipment. Sure, I can buy a good iron, but I live paycheck to paycheck, and it's just not a reconcilable cost right now lol Someday though, I'll have the Xbox world going again, though. Great channel you run here, great information.
Sorry man I don’t. It was pretty much a trial-and-error until I got it to look like what I wanted. Someone else asked the same question so look through the comments. I left a good list of things I did and needed. Hope that helps!
The wii was/is one of the most underrated consoles EVER. You can do so much with one, all the console libraries that can be played from this little console is just mind boggling. Honestly one could have only a Wii and never run out of things to play. I have mine customised with software and mods, no physical mods, but I play ctgpr Mariokart online a lot, and tons of other Wii and Gamecube games. Also the Nes, Snes and Sega Genesis. Going to add the Gameboy Gameboy color and Gameboy Advance libraries in the near future.
very inspiring, I've gotten so disapointed with the emulators on the wii, I always want to play a game that does not work. but I still love having a modded wii. I'm still trying to figure out the sd card menu stuff, installing wads onto it and such to save space. I can't belive how much entertainment this machine has.
Hey thanks for watching! Not sure what kind of problems you’re having. Which emulator, which game? And yes the Wii is a little beast. It’s become my entertainment time capsule💯
Ngl I forgot I soft modded my Wii for brawl mods and project m way back in like 2008/2009. Also modded the Wii mode on my Wii U. Might be time to bring it back
Awesome video man! I'm currently trying to setup my Wii for the best emulation on my new crt :) quick question though; do the gx channels (snesgx, fce ultra gx) generally emulate better than retroarch? I see you mostly use retroarch for arcade but was curious if you had tried it for other systems as well and if it stacks up or surpasses the alternatives. Thanks!
Hey thanks for watching! Good question. Since you are on a Wii, you’ll definitely get better performance out of the console emulators. Reason being that Nintendo had official classic releases from the Wii Shop Channel if you remember. Games for Neo-Geo, Snes, Nes, Genesis/mega drive, etc., so the coding is in the system. Retroarch should be used for Arcade only, imo.
@Rueben Jesse I don’t have a list, but check out my other vids like these that showcase games that use a CC or arcade stick. ua-cam.com/video/V5e071HrD-s/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/WgHA7pGzT90/v-deo.html
Hey, do you know what happened to your emulator icons? the link in description doesn't work anymore it seems ... "Sorry, the file you have requested does not exist."
Hey, I know you probably won’t see this but it doesn’t matter. Recently, I was scrolling through UA-cam when I saw a video about modding Wii’s. I instantly became fascinated with all the modifications you could actually make. So I decided to get my 10 year old Wii from my basement and try to mod it to the best of my ability. First, I downloaded the home brew channel (using the no sd card method) and was surprised at how easy it was. Then I downloaded wiimifi. It’s been two weeks now and so far I have ctgp, home brew browser, wiimifi and Riivolution. What would you recommend I get next ? Also, I’ve heard about console bricks and I want to install something to prevent that, could you also tell me what I should get for that ?
Thanks for watching, and awesome to see that you’ve given your Wii new life. As of what to do next, if you haven’t added emulators yet, do that (most importantly Nintendont for Gamecube games). As for anti-bricking, I use Priiloader. It allows you to boot the Wii in safe mode if you ever have to. Hope that helps, man!
Hey sorry for the late response. Your Wii turning on by itself? I’ve never heard of that issue before. Have you tried the modded wii sub-reddit forum? They are very helpful there.
The biggest suggested sd card size I know of is 32GB and anything bigger would cause issues. But that’s out-dated info. Man wish I knew the answer, but if it was running fast before, maybe you just need a new sd card. Thanks for watching!
Great vid bro! I have component out for 480p but have just received my Mclassic which I can already see amazing improvements to my PS2 games running via a Japanese CECHA00 60gb PS3...in your experience how much of an upgrade would the Hyperkin+Mclassic be over component @480p? Thanks!
Hey man! Thanks for the support! You’re just running 480p component directly to the tv? If that’s the case then Hyperkin + Mclassic will definitely have better image quality. Less jagged edges and brighter colors with a pure 1080p output. Don’t forget to get a hdmi spiltter so you can switch between the two consoles using the same mclassic 😉
@lewis camacho jr Are you talking about component cables in combination with the MClassic, or component cables alone? In the case of just components vs hyperkin (minus the MClassic), then you are correct.
@@djd-cepticon7215 Thanks for your reply man! So in conclusion Hyperkin vs component is pretty much the same with no real advantage/improvement but a Hyperkin + Mclassic is a noticable upgrade?
@biggus dickus just noticed your name haha! Bingo, man. I’m sure there is component to hdmi converter on amazon you can find in order to use components + MClassic.
Two Questions: How did you get the box art for each of the emulators? Also, how did you get the emulators to appear on the USB Loader GX menu itself? I have to go to the Homebrew Channel to launch them from the apps folder
Hi. I been having troubles with the SNES emulator, controller related. I can't use the classic controller and I know it has issues with third party controllers. Did you apply any mods or twiked the setup for it to work fine? Thanks
I had the same issues with FCE Ultra GX and SNES9xGx, I think the controller gets stuck on the ‘up’ direction. For this, I bought a Classic Controller-to-Gamecube-Wii adapter www.raphnet-tech.com/products/classic_to_gcwii_adapter/index.php It fixed that with my fighting sticks and classic controller.
Hi would you be able to give some advice as to how I set the rom path to my external drive via usb for mame rather then the sd card. Everytime I start mame, I get an error asking me to specify rompath in mame.ini file. I’m new to all this and trying to get the hang of things
@@djd-cepticon7215 I actually just found this while I was waiting for your reply. Thanks man! Also, great channel. I just sub'd! Do you by chance have a video on how you made the custom icons/artwork to select the different emulators from usbloader?
Thanks for the sub, man! This channel has gaming stuff and dj mixes too so don’t think the gaming content stopped if you see some dj stuff pop up. As for the emulator icons, i created those in photoshop. But you should be able to download the usb loader stock icons while in usb loader.
Very nice setup! I just got CGTP and MK Black onto my USBLoaderGX. I've modded hundreds of Wiis back in the day but only now just getting around to enjoying it with my son. Alot I haven't explored yet, I'll be trying to match what you have. What size HDD? FAT32? Any good recommendations on where I can get WADs? Is it possible to install WADs on the HDD? What's the max SD card? Sorry for all the questions, it's been ages.
Thanks for watching! CTGP and MK Black are awesome! For my setup, I have a 32gb SD card, 1TB HDD formatted to FAT32. I have a bunch of helpful links in the vid description for wads, and yes you can install (Wiiware/VC) wads onto the HDD my “emunand”. I think the best SD card size to go with would be 32gb.

Dude the BEST ever !!!! .....I dont know if u can do a video on getting the cover art to load up, I got it to work for the SNES but nes and sega I cant, I have watched hrs of videos n still nothing , please help since u are the King !!!!
Thanks for watching! I don’t really do tutorials but I can give you some pointers for where I had the same issues: - Make sure the cover png files are in the correct folder (root/fceugx/covers/3D), i only have 3D covers hence that folder. - Make sure the png file names match EXACTLY to the rom file names (if your rom says “1942 (USA).nes”, the cover file must say “1942 (USA).png”. - In the emulator, go to Settings/Saving & Loading. Look for “Screenshots Folder” and set it to “fceugx/covers/3D”. Again, if you want 2D, then swap out all of my “3D” directions with 2D. And make sure your emulator folder name in tje root of the sd card matches exactly to the emulator folder in your apps folder (ex: “fceugx” in sd root must match “fceugx” in apps. Hope this helps man!
@Ivan Pelayo Solis I sure have! I actually did a vid on lightgun games on the Wii using different emulators. I’ll do another one soon. ua-cam.com/video/7SC7wuDAoJc/v-deo.html
The one video I saw wasn't that good, to be honest, but the guy took it down, anyways. This link will show you how to take apart your Wii though, and it's a good tutorial. ua-cam.com/video/5fxB3t_MX1Q/v-deo.html For the window, it was kind of a trial and error for me until I finally made what you see in the vid. You'll need a Nintendo tri-star screwdriver (about $6 on amazon), sandpaper, Dremel drill, and the plexiglass has to be VERY thin. Also, you'll need to leave the metal casing off once you get inside of the Wii (you'll see this in the video I linked you too), otherwise your LED lights and plexiglass won't fit. You'll also need to make a hole in the back for the LED light power cable to run through. Hope that helps to get you started, good luck!
Awesome! Glad to see more people customizing their Wii. For the thin plexiglass, that actually comes with any medium to large poster frame and can be bought at Walmart, Michaels, Hobby Lobby, etc for less than $15. You’ll need an exacto blade or razor blade to cut through it.
DJ D-CEPTICON is the top one the one with the custom design mod to the side? sorry if it seems like a stupid question im only asking because im kind of busy atm and its an hour long lmao
Here is a vid that shows how to take apart the Wii: ua-cam.com/video/5fxB3t_MX1Q/v-deo.html Here is the vid to change the front disc light: ua-cam.com/video/BK2enjS6dLw/v-deo.html For adding the side window and LEDs, there was no vid. It was all trial an error to be honest. You will need thin plexigass, a razor blade, hot glue gun, dremel, sand paper, and two led strips. Dont get the waterproof kind or they wont fit. Also, youll need to remove the metal inside casing for everything to fit. You’ll see what I’m talking about when you watch that first vid I linked you to. Hope that helps a little more and best of luck!

hey nice wii but i have a question 1 how to you get the emulator on usb loader gx ? 2 how do you do for do a box art for it 3 how do you get the background on usb loader gx can you send me the links to do like you cause it's just good
Hey thanks for watching! As far as the emulators working through USB Loader GX, I think I followed this tutorial gbatemp.net/threads/usb-loader-gx-pluggin-mod-need-help-showing-roms.515862/ . Once they are installed, you can download the box-art through USB Loader. I created my own emulator art in Photoshop because I don’t like what USB Loader has. For your last question, I will need to find time to get the theme (background) and upload it to the description, but it may be a while. Keep checking back.
i love this! i was wondering how you were able to get retroarch to show up though? could you point to a video or site where that step might be explained?
@@djd-cepticon7215 thanks so much! that did help! i was able to install retroarch but i still have to tinker with it a bit. one last quick question: i don't know if you explained how you were able to port over the wiiflow theme to usb loader. could you direct me one last time please?
I got the mClassic during their crowd-fund and paid $75. Now it is about $100. The Hyperkin hdmi adapter I think is about $15-$20, and the female-to-female hdmi connector is only a few bucks.
I would suggest just using the zelda promotional disc for the gamecube. It came with Mario kart Double Dash and it has some zelda games on it including majoras mask and ocarina of time.
can you do a vid on your mcable and hyperkin setup and compare it to component ? I really want to get the best image quality out of tatsunoku vs capcom.
I don’t have a video capture card, so doing a compassion video wouldn’t show the quality of either setup. But I can say from personal experience snd from watching other videos is that the hyperkin and mClassic will definitely give a better image than components alone. The mClassic smoothens out a lot of tue jagged edges, which components do not do. The thing to think about is if the +$120 price point is worth it to you for the setup. I play my Wii every day on a big screen so I totally think it’s worth it. Btw, TvC looks 🔥🔥 with the setup.

I included a bunch of links in the vid description for tutorials I followed. You need a 32gb sd card.

The may flash wii to hdmi adapter is better then hyperkin the best way to buy it is on eBay as its always out of stock on Amazon
Sure, I can buy a good iron, but I live paycheck to paycheck, and it's just not a reconcilable cost right now lol
Someday though, I'll have the Xbox world going again, though.

There aren't case mod like this but for the Wii U right?
This is amazing bro
Question though how long did it take to do all this
For all of the outside case mods, maybe about 3 months on and off. All of the emulators and custom usb loader interface were done over 10 years.
U can play online after its modded??
A entire Wii multi-media center, my God this is cool
very inspiring, I've gotten so disapointed with the emulators on the wii, I always want to play a game that does not work. but I still love having a modded wii. Sick looking console! Just a quick question.. does the retro achievements function in retroarch work on the wii?
I don’t think so. This is a pretty old version of Retroarch.
Great setup, question, do yuo have the list of wii/GC games that don't require the motion controls?
@Rueben Jesse I don’t have a list, but check out my other vids like these that showcase games that use a CC or arcade stick.

@@djd-cepticon7215 I disagree the hyperkin doesn't make a difference when comparing it to component cables

- Make sure the cover png files are in the correct folder (root/fceugx/covers/3D), i only have 3D covers hence that folder.

For the window, it was kind of a trial and error for me until I finally made what you see in the vid.
@@djd-cepticon7215 You've really inspired me to try it out on my old Wii! What about the plexiglass? Where did you buy it?
Awesome! Glad to see more people customizing their Wii. For the thin plexiglass, that actually comes with any medium to large poster frame and can be bought at Walmart, Michaels, Hobby Lobby, etc for less than $15. You’ll need an exacto blade or razor blade to cut through it.

For adding the side window and LEDs, there was no vid. It was all trial an error to be honest. You will need thin plexigass, a razor blade, hot glue gun, dremel, sand paper, and two led strips. Dont get the waterproof kind or they wont fit. Also, youll need to remove the metal inside casing for everything to fit. @@THighthorn yeah, that is way better since that isnt emulation
can you do a vid on your mcable and hyperkin setup and compare it to component ?

@@djd-cepticon7215 thank you mate. The cab isnt complete yet. Still waiting on decals to arrive and it needs a tweak here and there and a respray in wii white and the new sticks haven't turned up. Ill dm you a pic of how it looks so far. By any chance did you manage to get the highscores to save on any of the arcade emulators ?
Sounds awesome, man! Send me a pic dcepticon1501@gmail.com. The high scores won’t save in Retroarch or mame 2000. But Mame 2003 has been up and running on the Wii and modders may have gotten that to save scores. Check out gbatemp.net/threads/mame-2003-plus.499497/ for more info.
wow great job you did
Thankls man!
Man, I love your videos and I only have 1 question...
Can I download the apps/games( for the emulators) on the usb? Because I have a 512mb SD and I don't want to get a bigger one... Thanks in advance!!😁
And if I can... Can you tell me how to do it? Or give me something to learn from?
@ADR Hey man tnx for watching! You can’t fit all the emulators and games on that usb. I’m using a 32gb sd for all of that. Here are all of the tutorials I followed. Hope they help you out man💯

@@djd-cepticon7215 Last thing man😁...
To make your own theme in usb loader gx have you used usb loader theme creator? Or other sites? Thanks 👍🏻
@ADR I just edited some jpegs w Photoshop (I’m lazy lol) But to do it properly, I would suggest using a theme creator.
@@djd-cepticon7215 Thanks a lot man!!
Do you know if the ps1 emulator lets you switch disc for disc 2? I have it all set up on my Wii and I’m curious if it will allow me to advance legend of dragoon past the first disc. There isn’t much info on this and I may just have to play up to that part and experiment myself.
Hey! How did you get the extra channel slots? I noticed that instead of the normal 4 pages of channels, there was 20 pages. Thanks!
Can I connect joycons or Bluetooth controllers. I would wanna play the GameCube Mario party games
Little blue hedgehog guy is Megaman!
I have a question for you, I downloaded your theme and emulator icons (They look so good btw) but for some reasons only the nes one shows up with my emulators, the rest is the default box any clue?
You need to replace the names of my icon files with the default box file names. Btw this is an outdated video, check out the newer one or head to the discord😊
very impressive man forreal
Thanks for watching, fam💯
@@djd-cepticon7215 Yessir, I'm actually trying to mod a wii for the first time and completely lost on where to start.
I included a bunch of links in the vid description for tutorials I followed. You need a 32gb sd card. First thing you need to do is letter-bomb, after that I’d suggest adding usb loader gx or wiiflow lite (you’ll need an external hard drive for all the wii/GC games. After that then add your emulators and you should be set.
But, can it run crysis?
It can run Doom,; close enough lol
how do you get to load movies on the wii and be able to watch it all you could not play all of those games and movies in your lifetime and complete them as well
Hold my beer.
This is fucking amazing. This is one of two of the greatest modded Wii showcases I've seen so far.
Can you send me a link to the other one?
You should mod the Wii mini to have the GameCube ports like the og Wii does
