You can get a cheap airbrush (they go as low as like 15$) and paint it that way, and then afterwards spray it with a gloss sealer to make it glossy like the wii. The airbrush will probably prevent it from feeling goopy like spray paint too, since spray paints are usually really thick to fill in scratches and the like, but just putting that craft paint with some thinner through the airbrush should feel no different to how your side panel feels. It should also let you easily use those stencils, if you wanna go that route. The gaps could be filled with some epoxy putties and sanded to fit if you cant reprint it. Awesome build though :D

22:53 The adapter you used just outputs the raw Wii signals just like mine: 480i for NTSC signals and 480p for 31khz progressive signals. This is critical for playing the Wii with the lowest latency as possible. Also, you can just use a wireless or USB-powered sensor bar to play your shooting games like Duck Hunt (WiiMednafen or FCE Ultra GX), Lethal Enforcers (Genesis Plus GX) and Big Buck Hunter Pro, so a CRT is not necessary, as the Wii Remotes instead relied on infrared timing.
The proprietary connector which you plug the official sensor bar into just sends power to it. All the electronics and logic to figure how far the Wiimote is from the TV is done on the Wiimote itself.
It would be really cool to do a larger version that can fit a Wii and a PC inside. And if possible design it so you could switch between the two using the front buttons
You can get sensor bar extension cables. No need to take it off a motherboard. You would've been quite easily able to add a sensor bar plug onto the back.
if it were up to me, i'd disconnect the og wii's faceplate and wire up the port to the front plate on the xl instead of making linkages. this would also allow for the light around the dvd slot and the sync button

you can glue pla permanently with CA glue. It sort of welds the plastic together. Need to wet both sides and let it sit for a bit, then push them together with a bit of force to make a good bond.
19:43 A little late and probably past the point of worrying about it (also looks mostly fine to me at the end of the vid,) but Bondo or the like is a decent way to deal with gaps like that. Helpful to have in general, really. Helps pretty up all the things I don't want to waste all the time and plastic reprinting.
One thing I would have done with your PCB was to add a diode on the + line going to the fan. Fans can also be voltage generators. You don’t want voltage back feeding into your USB port or device.
Put it all together and do Bondo to fill the gaps, then hand and dremel sand to get it looking right, then paint afterwards. Will give you a nicer more finished look! Watch cosplay construction videos for inspiration!
Fun video, I think this would be great if you did decide to open up the Wii, so you can just seperate the components out to their respectively correct positioning on the large model. Fun though.
Fun fact: the reason the sensor bar can be wireless is because the cord doesn’t send anything to the Wii. The cord is only lighting 4 red leds and the wiimote picks up those leds and sends cursor information via Bluetooth
You look and sound like AntDude from memory. Other than that, great video! I love tech stuff that I barely understand and it all just goes into my subconscious until a decade later where I'll remember it all of a sudden and it will help me out a bunch, so yeah I enjoy this kind of content.
I done something similar with a gameboy and old pc but a tip since your buttons are modular I would use your fan tap to wire in a led and put it in the power button so it lights up when it on. that shouldnt be hard to add in. Or since you dont need the light bar plug the led into that. ;) It should still turn on when the wii comes on and would be 3 volts give or take making it perfect for that lil red led for the power button.
With the DVD Drive, you probably get a tab to do a simple usb disc reader like you did for the fan, and tor the girthy prints you can print it diagnoly with supports on it, you can use lychee slicer to automaticly get supports in your prints. hope this help in the future.
