I will be 80 years old and still rocking out to jungle. This sound never ever gets old.

Too bad you won't make it to 80. Don't look up!
Better than post 2005 DnB in any case
Junglism is a must
Same. The amen break is practically my anthem.
This was as far as technology needed to go.
Amazing point!
Thanks for making your point without a bunch of flowery, pretentious language.
I agree
I salute you for the supremacy of your point and am grateful for your telling refuse of the adoption of language of the convoluted and pretentious persuasion.
This is an opinion I, for one, can concur.

@@Sanscripter lol
My boys and I used to call Jungle, "main menu music." Only because in International Superstar Soccer, that was literally the name of the song. Every time we'd hear Jungle or any type of DnB, we'd jam out cuz its "main menu music."
my brother and I called it the same thing lol
To your collective credit, you weren't wrong lol. This kind of music WAS used in a lot of menus.
As a jazz guy, DnB/Breakcore/Jungle is such a nice fusion of rhythm and catchy, complex chord changes. What an era
I know exactly what you mean!!!
I don't hear any chord changes. The beat drops or it goes ambient. But there is not a single chord change here sir. Sometimes they'll move an octave up or down but the chord patterns always remain the same. At least on this mix.

This is incredible. The sense of excitement about the future we had in the 90s is something so dear to me and it shines through so much in some of these tracks. It makes me want to put that future we saw then into our reality today!
The fact that you included footage for each track from their respective games is an enormous treat too!
I appreciate the support mate, and I’m exactly the same, it’s so great that 90s gaming is becoming a community now.
Would you say you prefer gameplay to static game-related pictures for these type of mixes? I’d be really interested to hear just so I know what to use moving forward 🤔
So well said about the sense of excitement for the future back in the 90’s. This music makes me feel that again.
@@Camaz one vote for footage
@@Camazthe gameplay footage is perfect!! I recently got a 90s tv for free and I use it all the time now, earlier today I put your mix on it while working on other stuff and it set the ambiance perfectly
Can't help but wonder if living through this era of gaming as a little kid is what planted the seed for me to appreciate DnB music as an adult. This just unlocked a memory of my childhood that was hidden away for a long time. Awesome
It probably did. I know it planted the seed for me. Ape Escape was the main game that did it.
I didn't have a playstation growing up and didn't get to play ape escape until recently and that ost is a certified banger
Nostalgia is one hell of a drug… But even without nostalgia this slaps.
I was just thinking that lol. I love house, techno, trance just because of my dad but my earliest memories of DNB was through video games. Mostly racing games.

Jungle music is so relaxing, the vibe is unique, so 90s and early 2000s games

Man that first track goes hard. It perfectly reminds me of playing those racing games in the late 90s and early 00s as a kid. Miss those days. Born in ‘91 so I got to grow up thru the best era in gaming… late 90s thru the 2000s! A little off topic but spent many hours playing Halo 2 and Halo 3!!

The Ridge Racer series always had the best electronic music for me growing up. Such a variety too. I discovered gabber on Ridge Racer 1. That was the sound of the future for me haha Wipeout also contributed a lot too.
Well said! Yeah Ridge racer has such a versatile ost, you’ve got the likes of ‘lucid rhythms’ and ‘silhouette dance’ as well as the tracks in this video. Great times!
Ridge racer 4 has an amazing soundtrack, ridge racer on the PSP also kills it.
This was the best era of video game music imo, something about jungle and games in this era meshed perfectly.
This mix saved me from melting down when my child wouldn’t stop screaming 😅
Unreal Tournament '99 I must say probably has had the highest impact on my music taste as a whole. I regard that soundtrack as being my favorite video game soundtrack of all time. I listen to it if not daily than at least weekly and I have done so since i first heard it in the beginning of the 2000's. My Top3 most listened to categories still to this day are liquid/jazzy DnB, Ambient & video game music LoL. Keep on vibing mah dudes 'n' dudettes 🤙
that's funny I was just telling my gf the other day about how that game had the best OST of any video game I've ever played haha
The UT99 Soundtrack is off the charts. Played so many hours and I'm still playing it. I sneaked those songs in at edm music festivals and ppl went crazy. They have an undeniable quality
In my opinion, Unreal 1998 has got the most atmospheric soundtrack i have ever heard in a video game, I remember playing the game in 1998 and getting blown away by the graphics, incredibly open levels and environment (unlike Half Life which was released in the same year), and my god, the optimalization for the year was seriously Unreal, because just with a Software Rendering and slow PC even for it's time, the game was smooth af.
Unreal 1998 and Unreal Tournament are the best games I have ever played. Unreal 1998 has got the best story from all late 90s FPS games, and Unreal Tournament 99 got the best gameplay. It's so sad that nowaday kids can't understand how incredible these two games was.
You guys might hate me for bringing this game up, but this song is actually in fortnite now lmaooo. 200vbucks is I add it to your main menu music, and best believe I did lol
Here before it blows up
You guys remember that feeling of unboxing your PS1 for the first time and popping in the demo disc (since your parents didn't realize they needed to buy actual game discs), and just feeling like you were about to conquer the world? That's what this feels like.
Ridge Racer still with the best soundtracks of any series ever
Ridge Racer Type 4 >>>>>>
Omg I remember that game!
I will keep this on repeat - CLASSick!!! Camaz awesome work man!
Amazing times, what a time it was to be a child.
The whole sci-fi/ futuristic look and sound peaked when The Matrix came out
It's no longer a wonder I am into so much electronic music as an adult. This shit was the soundtrack to my childhood
I wasn't alive during the time these games were made, but damn I just can't help but appreciate and adore them. Games back then we're on a whole different vibe. 😭
Respect I was though it was indeed a vibe
Because we didn't need online and the games were still being built for the fun factor out of the gate. No big budget to prove anything and dope music too.

There's something about the late 90s/early 2000s era of video game music that I love a lot. I was born during the latter (2002) but hearing what type of video game music was made during the 90s is such a magical experience..an era I'll never get to experience
How in the nostalgic F are these bangers just, casually, from video games?!?! My mind is officially blown!!!
There was a time in the '90s and early 2000s when music, gaming, technology, anime... so many things all aligned into a kind of futurist cultural zeitgeist. Maybe it was due to the perception of the millennium as the beginning of an exciting new era.

This brings back such powerful waves of childhood nostalgia! I can vividly remember those afternoons in 1st grade, rushing home from school and eagerly firing up my trusty PS1. The cherry on top was the small CRT TV, accompanied by a pair of headphones, a relic from some economy flight of a long-forgotten airline. That whisked me away into a world of immersive jungle music and gaming adventures. Those were the days when time seemed to stand still, and the joy of playing on that old console was pure magic.

Man hearing bomberman and R4 ost made me realize how much i love that style, so chill and relaxed and yet active at same time. I recall how i loved to play random races in R4 and 90% of times i would play "quiet curves".
Makes sense i would get so hype by Persona 3 music and then move into Nujabes, and chill hop music eventually. This list is awesome.
funny how this music genre aged incredibly well. Glad you included some SF3, great song choice though the Akuma theme in 3rd strike is what pops in my mind when I think of Drum and Bass in gaming.
