I used to dread winters. I hated the ice and mud, we rarely get actual snow so everything was usually shades of brown and grey. Now as the years have become busier, i look forward to the winter. To me it is full of deep Shalom and rest, like our Shabbat’s. A time to rest and recoup, turning our hands to slow restorative crafts, knitting, crocheting, weaving, baking, and reading.❤
I’m such a winter girl and could have six months of fall and six months of winter. I love the coziness and warmth it brings, cozy candles, warm fires, snow sparkling outside, a good book, baking, cozying up our home….so love and needed this video as it does bring peace and rest to our souls❤

My sister… Winter in South Africa really doesn’t look as enchanting as you make your winters look… I always feel terrible hating winter… when it can look so beautiful 😢❤…. A reminder to enjoy every season… 💕💐
February here is pretty dreary. Everything just turns brown and gray. I try to see it as a finish line and keep my mind busy. I suppose it's nice that you have a short winter season, is that the case?
@@LittleHouseOnTheMountain due to climate change, il say South Africa has 6 solid months of winter. The winter is refered to as bitter because you definitely feel it in your bones and you wish for heated floors😊. Thanks to your videos, I have come to be grateful to God for each season and to make the best of it. God bless you my sister...
I have no winter (south Florida) and sometimes , I miss it. I like to make soups and stews and read books that take place in winter, even though it's in the 80s all the time here. That way, at least I feel Like i have my own little 'winter ' . I am just starting to "pen pal ' and I encourage everyone to do so. Sending and receiving actual mail that isn't a bill or a solicitation is lovely
I love this video, especially the encouragement about moving our bodies even in the winter. I definitely struggle with this. Your videos are always so lovely ❤
Lea, so enjoy your videos. They're calming...while the world is not so much. They're inspiring...to be fed with God's Word, abide with the Father in all ways/doing all things, enjoy nature and its wee creatures, gratitude for even the simple pleasures. And, even, to get started on routine household tasks....who knew? May the Spirit guide you in the content you produce. And lead many to the foot of the cross. Bless you and yours.
I love that you mentioned penpals, if anyone are looking for one, there are groups on Facebook, and Instagram. I myself have been neglecting my penpals lately, but will make sure I put aside time for them tonight. Thank you for the inspiration as always, Lea.
We look forward to winter here in AK. Even with its extreme cold, God has helped us see all the beauty and blessings that come with our very long cold season. So would enjoy learning a new home making skill, such a good suggestion. I’m not naturally creative and so sometimes it’s overwhelming knowing where to even start. We also enjoy how winter slows every thing down, and makes it even easier to hunker down and be a homebody:). Many blessings to you, and thank you for your letter! ❤
Hello Lea, good reminders about healthy foods.. I have been writing ✍️ 💌 to old friends again. There's nothing better than to commit thought to pen n express gratitude 🧡💛💜🤎
We had the first frosty night jesterday and it is so wonderful to see the Nature geting to rest, so i can rest too Sitting by the fireplace and have peppermint tea out of the Garden is so wonderful I thank the Lord for this gifts every day🙏. Thank you for your video an for you, be blessed❤ Greatings from Eastfrisia🙋♀️
Thank you so much, for your inspiring, encouraging messages. I'm thankful your Little House On The Mountain just popped up some time ago in my UA-cam list. With a lot of sounds and noise and things happening during the day, it's so welcome, to learn to live slower and enjoy the little things and take time to thank God for it. We live far from each other, but in our Lord Jesus, we are one. That's a wonderful thought. God bless you. Greetings from the Netherlands.
I love your channel and fall, winter, spring. It is a struggle for me in the summer. Last year, I decided to find things to love about it, such as the clover lawn I put in for the bees. Mostly, I found joy in the early mornings and attempted to complete my outdoor tasks before noon. In this small way, I took mastery over the day. And, yes, on a really dreadful day of heat, I ran like a child and jumped in our pond. I am 66. It was a great treat. In winter, I love the cold snap on my cheeks and a 30 minute walk. It is addictive to me.
The dark season is a time for slowing down life and self-reflection. After the crazy pace of life in the summer, it's so good to stop a little and put your thoughts in order, analyze your past year and make plans for the next year. This is the perfect December for me 😊
Don’t you find it is just so easy to give in to the dreariness and feelings of melancholy? That is therefore such a lovely reminder by Laura Ingalls Wilder that you have to set your mind to enjoy something, and then you will. Maybe then it will become a habit as well. It is also wisdom to know your own limitations and work your way around it. I always look forward to these little visits with you. Thank you for inviting us into your cozy home. 🥰👒
I love sending and receiving cards and letters. I sent two this past month, along with two small gifts. It's getting so costly to mail a package these days! Thank you for another beautiful video. It was just what I needed this evening to enjoy and relax with while I sip a cup of Chai. Happy Sabbath!
I agree with those suggestions… winter is definitely a great time to read and learn a hobby. Usually winter is a depressing time for me especially after the holidays…( ugh, January!)
Love love love this channel! Thank you for the encouragement to help enjoy winter. I live in Jersey and just try to survive it. Hate the early darkness but I'm going to find positive things to do with it. Thank you dear sister! Love you! ❤️
Such beautiful words…♥️ Lea, we share a very similar lifestyle.. and I’m always grateful for your offerings… Peace and Love to you and James. 😊 Also.. I live in the woods of Maine.. winter is here for us.
Thank you for your beautiful inspirational way of everything you do. I learn so much from you , a beautiful woman of God Your house is a so inviting warm and blessed house You and your husband are a beautiful couple. I just love watching everything you do . God bless you more 🙏🏻💗🙏🏻
I can't believe you love Anne of Green gables I used to go to the video store and pay double for the rent because I would of kept it for a fortnight and I watched it countless times with my mum , I remember her mum saying to despair is to turn your back on God, I didn't know what she meant then but I do now🖐️💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚
These are such helpful tips! My southern heart is learning to love Chicago winters but about midway through, it can get quite rough for me. I’m focusing on taking better care of my body this winter and will definitely try the supplements you suggested!
I'm really struggling with winter at the moment. I have an extreme case of chill blains on my hands, making them red, swollen, itchy, and burning. I've had chill blains since I was a child, but it was always on my toes and not as severe. It's making me wish for spring, but I know I should change my attitude towards the situation and make the most of every day. I'll try to apply your practices as far as I can.
As we are coming to the last weeks of November and the weather is fluctuating back and forth...we are also preparing for the long winter to arrive. We have been stocking up and making sure we have the syrups and tinctures we might need. Those are very good suggestions and very helpful. I also enjoy letter writing and receiving snail mail 📬. Thanks for inviting us over for the visit...have a blessed Thanksgiving with your family. Shalom and Blessings
Hi Lea. As always your videos infuse peace and serenity. I like winter a lot, i love being in front of the fire with a good book and enjoy the silence outside.I too have a small house in the mountains but unfortunately i can't enjoy it as much as i would like. Also here in Italy the first snow has arrived in any zones. I wish a peaceful Thankgiving Day to you and your families.🙏🙏❤
I've seen in previous videos that you have made your own candles. Do you have a recipe or book that you use? I would really like to start doing this. Thank you for sharing the beauty of the changing seasons.
Do you have a brand recommendation for D3/k2? I just read from a good source that most of the supplements available are fake. I wondered why my D levels were so low in spite of taking it every day. It was a very hard winter last year as a result. Beautiful video thank you
I used to take designs for health Emulsi-D3 Synergy, recommended by the naturopath I was seeing at the time. It's a very good one. I should start taking it again! I'm just taking 2,000 IU of NatureWise D3. It's kept my D levels up (I live in MI).
