    Absolutely agree with Mr Timbo64, if I removed the centre stand, rear grab handle and heated grips from my 2018 T120 I suspect I could probably lighten my bike by this amount too.

    • @thorium24
      @thorium24  3 роки тому

      Well that is possible. Well mainly the center stand, grab rail not so much. Although since I don't see a center stand listed for this year either it hasn't been released yet or due to the welded cat, this may not allow for it.
      It's all give and take I have cruise which is essential for me and better brakes(not as essential). I would trade the better brakes for a center stand in a heartbeat but wouldn't consider the same for the cruise for the heated grips.

      Or switch the pea-shooters for some slash cuts from British Customs and boom, 15 lbs saved. I wish my 18 would’ve had cruise.

      @@playnicebegoodtoothers6944 you're not wrong an exhaust change would definitely add to the savings in weight. I am a sucker for those peashooters though. Cruise is a must have anymore for me.

    Had a look at one of these today, after test riding a Ducati Scrambler 1100 yesterday - the Triumph is better finished (tho the Ducati has more expensive bits bolted on) & my money will be headed to Hinckley.

    How does the small wind screen work? I purchased my 2022 T120 a few days ago in San Antoino Texas. I had to ride it home to West Texas about 250 miles. I rode in the city, on I10 interstate highway at 80 mph speed limit, I did over 100 mph passing some big riggs for short burst. The last 80 miles was hills and twisties on back country roads. But on this portion, I pick up 35 to 50 mph cross winds. Those winds sucked ass especially with big rig going the other way passed me. I had to put gas in the bike 37 miles from home. I guess I got crappy gas mileage from the interstate highway riding. I purchased this bike because I had a 1982 Honda CB900C custom from 1983 to 1998 and loved that bike and wanted a bike that sat and rode like it. The T120 is the closest bike I could find that rides like the Honda from 1982. I love this bike and will be keeping it. I had to sell the Honda due to having to move overseas in the military. I was USAF from 1984 to 2007 active duty, retired.

    • @thorium24
      @thorium24  Рік тому

      That is a trek for a first ride on it. Those crosswinds can be murder. I felt the Bonneville stays planted for it's size. I hear ya I sold my first new bike when I moved overseas as well.

    Moving up to a T120 next year, deciding between standard black (chrome pipes) and all black model. Curious about cleaning / maintenance of black finish on pipes & wheels - any tips or things to avoid, to keep the finish nice over time?
    Beautiful T120, congrats!

    • @thorium24
      @thorium24  3 роки тому +1

      Thanks,
      Well I like the standard 120 as well but I preferred the black engine covers. The matte finish you can use Windex to clean it up. The thing with any matte finish is if you damage the paint you really can't fix it but if you damage stainless/chrome you have similar situation. So do not use any product with wax on it and you will be fine.
      Per Triumph manual a low pH soap

      I've had the black model 6 months now...I don't use my h water to clean it ..mostly wipe the black metal parts, wheels exhaust pipes and engine casing with WD 40 dissolves the flicked off chain oil etc brilliantly and leaves a great lustre finish that also protects from moisture and humidity...really easy and very effective...I love the black one...expect same WD 40 would work on Chrome finish parts

      I have a 2017 T120 Black with 14K miles on her. I wipe the bike down with a wet microfiber after every ride and she looks showroom new. I've never taken a hose to her in 4 years. Paper towels and windex also works, but I switched to the microfiber cloth 2 years ago and it's just easier. I will say my T120 has only seen rain once in 4 years. It's is a great all-around motorcycle with head-turning, classic looks.

      I have a T120 black and use GT85 to protect and finish all parts minus the brakes and paintwork. Leaves a nice sheen but not too glossy. It also makes cleaning road grime off a lot easier. WD40 or double TT will do the same job also.

      I would say this is a very easy bike to ride. Gives what I say is a confidence inspiring steering feel and the light clutch is great making it a good first larger displacement bike. However things to note power delivery will be different from what your used to both in the amount of power but also where the power/torque is. So account for that.
