He sang about how SAP,privatization, deregulation was used to doom many African countries into poverty. I hope you all know that is the main point of the song. Around that time one British pound went from 5 naira to 28 naira in 2 weeks. Was supposed to help us with exports but we really didn’t have much to export
Nigerians must be the most political cowards in the world. Being blessed with a person like Fela Kuti. He gave Nigerians the musical lyrics to fight the useless leaders but never bothered to
I remember fela perform this tune at lekki sunsplash, my father took the whole family to the beach... i was still in my teens seeing fela for the first time was amazing. Everyone was dying to see him live i can still remember this. FELA the god
Fela..simply put: GENIUS PAR EXCELLENCE!!! In fact, he is a genius of geniuses and the greatest musician EVER!!! This particular tune ALWAYS does it for me musically and makes me happy that I am a musician. The "QUICK, QUICK, KIA KIA, HARAKA HARAKA AND BANGISA BANGISA" parts ALWAYS make my head ring and tintinnabulate because of the way they were harmonized and how they were delivered: SHEER MUSIC HEAVEN!!! KUDOS TO THE ONE AND ONLY ABAMI EDA AD INFINITUM AND EVEN AD NAUSEAM!!! Everybody say Yeah Yeah!!!
He was a legend and he still a legend and history he made no one can replace him nor neither his child may his soul rest in peace ( moses Ngobeni in SA)
Great Prophet Baba Fela Kuti, may you continue to rest in peace, because ALL the things you WARNED Nigeria about, is what is happening today. YOU SAW THE FUTURE.

Ah Baba, why you die now? Just when your music was getting more sophisticated and your messages more universal. Who do the people have to turn to now? RIP Abami...
Babangida was referred to as Maradona in Nigeria because of his trickery in government just like Maradona had such trickery with a Football. It was basically a metaphor
William Uko is right, but I'm not sure that was entirely the case. I think Fela was alluding to the fact that Babangida's reign in the late 80s brought about the dawn of computers. Government agencies and whatnot, left the age of manual gadgets, things were analog now, digitized, making the money harder to trace. Abacha would benefit from that measure, immensely, later on. Babangida's trickey, as Fela talks about in this song, included gimmicks such as the Structural Adjustment Program (SAP) - a.ka. Suck African People, STP, and others.
