I love this song, it speaks truth to our Political Rulers of the Past. They failed to realize the harm they brought to other Nations. Now the dirt of the greed has made its way back to our shores. Like Malcolm X said "The Chickens Come Home To Roost"

Fela is an ancestor, he see the world from an African prism unlike a lot of Africans today. Africans today are European with a black skin, they filter through the white man's lenses that is why they think Fela is too much for them.
Africans are patriarchs; from an African concept of family, any man that is being led by a woman has already failed. We are also allowed to marry many women, we're Africans, we're not white, we are polygamist by nature.

Oya oya lets go. If you no go make you fall out of line.
African countries led by blind leaders who refuse to see with African Eyes. Thats why up till now Africa still dey miss road cos we continiously evaluate our issues with borrowed eyes. I salute you Baba👀👀👀

As a 50 year old White male who just discovered Fela over the past couple of years, I have immersed myself into his wonderful music, his activism etc. and this man is a true inspiration to me. I feel that Africa would do well to unite and force out the colonial mentality that still dominates much of the continent. The people of Africa do not get to profit from the vast resources that outside countries such as the US, Britain, France and others are stealing from Africa. These outside influences, give money to the violent warlords who then use every method imaginable to keep the wonderful African people away from all the mining and manufacturing of the African resources. Sadly, a few bad Africans such as the politicians, warlords and such that have been paid off by outside interests, they give all of Africa a bad name and only those that search for the real truth (such as myself) can truly see how wonderful the people of Africa truly are and how badly they have been taken advantage of over the years. Fela battled this corruption and rape and pillaging of a very rich country where many of the people do not even have clean water or electricity. The people need to unite as one Africa and throw out the evil both their own political leaders, the warlords and anyone that supports them...as well as all the other countries that are funding these corrupt leaders and such. The people of Africa are a wonderful, loving and caring people and sadly they are not benefiting from all the riches and the rest of the world turns a blind eye towards the evil being done to the wonderful people of Africa. Fela is now a firm hero and role model of mine. I always speak out no matter how unpopular my views may be and that is what we all should do. I sure hope Africa can unite and benefit from all the riches that their land has in bunches. Here in the U.S our rich are no longer paying their fair share of taxes, some pay none by avoiding it in foreign banks...bottom line, the wealthy corporate world is destroying the world slowly but surely. Until ALL of the poor people (every race has poor suffering people) and working class of the world say enough is enough and throw these evil greed mongers out on their collective ass....we will all continue to be taken advantage of. Open your eyes everyone, we must stop the slaughter, rape and pillaging of Africa!!! Peace people. Long live Fela!!!! Femi Kuti, the son of Fela is continuing his fathers legacy, check him out as well. Seun is another son of Fela that has taken up the musical activism that made his father famous. Check out all of the former band mates and such and you can find great Afrobeat music everywhere!!!

All of you that are commenting on Fela's life and his "misogyny" need to go to another place and listen to something else...how much of a misogynist could he have been if his mother a political/womens rights activist chose to live with him instead of her other sons who were doctors? Baba is telling us to remove western eye from our thinking and you are using western eye to criticize him...what else do we expect from BiG Blind Africans..who refuse to let colonial thinking go...Egbesu Asawanna

I think I just found Jesus Christ on UA-cam. I find your comments very hypocritical. What Fela did, no religious leader today can do. A lot of them find it difficult to even simply say the truth to Nigerian politicians. Do you have sources? Are you going to tell me you never had sex outside marriage or boasted about girls you have slept with or stole or lie, or done any wrong to your neighbour, etc. What is the difference? Yet you come here and call someone else a "certificated immoral man".

thats if he existed right? lets not forget that the bible is a very inaccurate document that has been proven to be historically false over and over again.....besides christ was a hebrew not a christian....christianity belongs to the apostle paul and the emperor constatine with his advisers who made up the whole thing

  • @shjakes

I stand corrected. I had no idea that he took his contempt for propriety that far by talking about his sex-life to the media. I like Fela but I found him to be very misogynitic in his attitude, behavior and some material ('Mattress' and 'Lady' come to mind)...I believe the only woman he ever respected was his mother. Still, inspite of his many flaws and enormous ego I think we can both agree that his heart was in the right place...

An African Man should be surrounded by many women around him. Period. The concept of monogamy was brought by the Colonial master who messed up our ancestors and caused cultural diffusion from ourselves. Otherwise before colonialism our ancestors were by far solidly polygamous and that was what Fela Kuti EMBRACED
