If this was real, the real fun wouldn't be the reactions in the show, it would be that everytime a real doctor had to tell a parent their baby is dead the parent would just have the smallest bit of hope that it's just the TV show. That and their baby isn't actually dead, when it really is.
Down the hall, a doctor will tell a mom who just gave birth "I'm sorry but...your baby's dead." And the mom will say "OMG AM I ON NBC!?" & the doctor will say "No. This isn't a show. Your baby's really dead."
I know right? I guess for me it's a sort of fascination that when Jim wants to mention a "random person" he is able to drag up, out of ALL people, Yaphet Kotto. It's just so absurd.
When the parents are signing standard documents at the hospital to admit the pregnant wife...they sneak in a document that legally says the parents cannot sue anyone for the psychological and emotional damage they're about to suffer :)
Christ, I wish I had some artistic ability. I'd paint a promo poster for this show with Yaphet Kotto with a big shiteating grin on his face, Kathy Bates and Taylor Swift dressed up as nurses, Ricky Gervais dressed up as an orderly, a lion with a bloody diaper in its mouth, weeping parents....

Since between childhood stories, stories he makes up in characters, and show pitches. I feel like we'd at least have a very interesting serial killer on our hands. They could call him Jackie the Choke Man. Since apparently "Jack" is an acceptable nickname for JAMES. There's a british Comic named Jack Dees who's real name is James, not a "John" to be found in his full name.
