    Liking your little series. The bike looks badass. Been wanting to build one just like it. Thanks for the info! Looking forward to seeing the video of you on the track with it!

      JetCityHooligan Thanks Man. Got on track the other day, but the damn GoPro battery was dead. The bike did surprisingly well. Looking forward to making a couple more changes and getting back out there. Part 4 is in the works...

    I figured the mag wheels were going to be an issue. I always liked the looks of spoke wheels anyways... comes from a lot of years in the dirt. The mags do have a nice look to them though.

    Looks good man. I’ve always had a thing for flat track bikes with V twins. I’ve done the rocket bikes, cafe racers and now I want a naked v twin. I like the aggressive look to be followed up with the Harley sound.

    Those are 13.5" stock shocks. I hope to be installing some 15" Burley Brand Stilettos in the next couple days. That will be on Part 4, but I can let you know how they fit.

    Man this is a awesome budget flat tracker. Awesome job man.
    I wish would of showed alil more on how u got that tail section to mount up tho

    • @JoelTarquin21
      @JoelTarquin21  6 років тому +1

      Thanks Man. The tail bracket was really just a 2” x 1/8” piece of steel that I bent to support the back of the seat and some pieces of a skateboard to support the middle:-)

    Those are 4.5" risers from Custom Chrome. I felt like I wanted my handlebars 6" up, and once I chose the bars I liked, they were only a 1.5" rise, so I chose the risers AFTER I found the bars I liked.

    If you can remember, what are the dimensions of your tires? Really like the meatyness of them.

    What size risers are thoes bud 👍👍👍Kool build ...

    • @JoelTarquin21
      @JoelTarquin21  4 роки тому

      4” risers, 2.5” rise on that bars. If I had it to do over, I would add one more inch on either the risers or the bars...

    Also are those 13" rear shocks? I have an 06'sporty and I'm a taller guy but I know that burly brand 15" rear shocks won't fit on my bike unless I relocate the rear master cylinder supposedly

  • @GNARLYDAVIDSON1
    @GNARLYDAVIDSON1 7 років тому

    I noticed in the video. That it looks like you used wood to mount the seat... am I seeing things? If not how did you get that front to mount??

    • @JoelTarquin21
      @JoelTarquin21  7 років тому +1

      yeahdezi Yes, I used a couple pieces of skateboard to get the seat to sit at the height I wanted. I could have made a taller bracket, but liked the idea of incorporating a skateboard. The front of the seat pan slides into the stock seat mount.

  • @chadamblaze
    @chadamblaze 8 років тому

    Might've missed it in another video but how big are those rear shocks? I have 13" burlybrand right now but might get 15".
    Thanks! The bike is awesome btw

    I want to convert my 2015 Yamaha vstar xv250 into a street tracker or cafe racer style, I don't know where to start! I'm thinking the rear end fender and seat..
    Just don't know where to get the parts or start really.. Any suggestions?

    • @JoelTarquin21
      @JoelTarquin21  8 років тому +2

      I would start just like I did, with handlebars and tony fender. The rear fenders are always on EBay, but you have to run multiple searches ie "flat track fender, flat track seat, dirt track fender etc... Seat/fenders are one size only, so measure the rear frame tubes of your bike first just to make sure it will fit without too much fab work. But remember, you can make anything fit if you are creative enough. Good luck...

    weird question how tall are you i have a 04 sporty 1200 i want to turn into a tracker but people say im too tall for the bike you look pretty tall but you fit it well

    • @JoelTarquin21
      @JoelTarquin21  8 років тому

      I am six feet tall with long arms, and I feel fine on the bike. A couple tricks to keeping the bike from feeling small would be 15" Burly Brand shocks and bars that are wide and do not have much "pull-back".Also run a moto style bar, so that you can roll it more forward.

    hi, i'm italian and i sorry because i speak bad english.
    Even if a few years late, I would like to ask you what engine it was, if it was tuned and if so, how.
    Thanks in advance

      That is a 1200. I always use two into one pipes, as they create better low end, and sound bitchin. That bike also has stage one air cleaner/carb tuning.

    What's that part to install front tires on the rear?

    • @JoelTarquin21
      @JoelTarquin21  7 років тому

      ConditionRed Dirt track tires are 19", like the Harley front wheel. If you want to race seriously, only way to have real dirt track tires is to go 19" front and back.

    • @firstnamelastname-jv7ki
      @firstnamelastname-jv7ki 7 років тому

      Joel Tarquin a dirt bike rear wheel isn't always 19 in the rear to the best of my knowledge most real wheels are gonna be 17inch

    • @JoelTarquin21
      @JoelTarquin21  7 років тому +1

      Dylan Thomas I said "Dirt Track", not dirt bike. ALL dirt track tires are 19".

    Why did you insist on the 19" wheel in the rear?

    • @JoelTarquin21
      @JoelTarquin21  8 років тому

      19" wheel is only needed if you want to run dirt track tires. I use my 16" rear wheel when I ride on the street.

    What hub spacer did you use on the rear wheel?

    • @JoelTarquin21
      @JoelTarquin21  9 років тому

      donnalele I got the rear spacer kit from Phil Little Racing. The kit is really nice quality, but if you plan to pull wheelies or race, Phil recommends that you drill the holes out to use larger pulley bolts. Also, make sure your wheel is 2002 or older or the kit will require much more modification because the width of the hub is different.

      +Joel Tarquin Thanks so much. I wrecked my bike a week ago. It will be 6 months before I can ride so I want to transform it into this when I'm well. Never to early to start buying parts.
