City council candidate says they know how to solve the in-fighting

One of the candidates for Lynchburg City Council is calling for change, following Tuesday's explosive meeting at City Hall and all of the drama over the last year and a half.
Jacqueline Timmer, the Republican candidate in Ward I, said she thinks most of the infighting on the council is centered around who's running for mayor and who's selected. So, she's calling for a change in how that position is chosen.
"I think the divisiveness on council right now is a manifestation of what we're seeing nationally," Timmer said. "That's this cancel culture that allows you to blame. There's bullying, there's punishment. It's all the same thing. In the context of that, it's this representation of cancel culture that we have an opportunity to reject when we look past that. We've gotten stuck in a gridlock and now we're more worried about blame than we are about the issues."
