Nobaras whole “stfu about gender roles and fight me” is one of my favorite moments in season 1. Then you have Maki just being the complete badass, as always.
This is probably the most underrated episode of the season for me, maybe even the whole anime. The fights go hard and the Maki and Mai stuff hits hard emotionally. Love Nobara in this episode too.
its more like Mai has to be dragged into this whole situation as well, because Maki wanted to be a sorcerer. You head the Zenin clan head talk about how he'll put Mai through those suffering too, even though she never wanted anything to do with it. Which is why it feels unfair to just say its all cool, because Maki's actions while necessary still bring about the siffering of her sister. Its a complicated situation.
But that's the "victim blaming" way of thinking about it which is how a psychological abuser wants their victims to think (in this case their clan is the abuser). Maki's actions are not bringing suffering to her sister, her action was to become a sorcerer in order to become the new head of the clan, not making her sister go through something she hates. The ones taking the action to force Mai to go through shit she doesn't want to is their clan. The clan is the one shitting on Mai, not Maki; the Zen'in clan (Naobito in particular since he's the one who ultimately decided that) is the one to blame and no one else.
@@Kal-213 Oh for sure, I understand and feel for Mai, my heart goes out to her. She has the wrong way of thinking about this whole ordeal, but it's not her fault. She's just a victim. She's hurting and is angry because of it and she's misplacing that anger due to the psychological abuse that is being exerted onto her. Really sad and also really real and, just as Maki, she ain't the one to blame for it.
@@Cibanti i don't disagree with you at all, but most reactors blame Mai for having any sort of negative feelings about Maki. It is understandable for her to struggle with this and her emotions regrading Maki.
This is among my favorite episodes of Season 1!!! Love it. Also guys, be really careful of spoilers. There are a LOT of them among the community, to the point where I knew almost all the major plot points of the latest arc. It gets REALLY annoying because the spoilers are EVERYWHERE spread by manga readers that have no consideration for anime-only people. So yeah, take care!
A bit of info i learned about mai that i think is funny ,Mai doesn't actually like Todo but hangs around him to make herself look tougher than she is. Imagine subjecting yourself to the insanity of todo just to LOOK strong🤣
Whenever I rewatch this episode, I can't believe How well paced this particular episode is. It's directed by Shota-san who is the head Director of whole of season 2 and episode 8 of chainsaw man (the episode where shit happens). And this episode is also my favourite episode of season 1 right behind episode 24 and 20.
I don't think Nobara was saying "i don't see gender" I think she was trying to say "I don't give a damn about how *_I_* look, whether is manly or girly. I love myself as both." [spoilers] Also, always baffled to remember Naobito being a shithead lol. His appeared in S2 was so random that I simply forgot he was the head of the Zenin Clan.

Mei Mei, the girl who was using the crows as cameras, is the same VA as the original Sailor Moon ❤
HUH???? Now I gotta listen more closely…
The discussion about the 'solution to curses' was *veeery* interesting. ^^
In a series with spectacular bombastic fights, these two hit different. I just love them so much
This is my most favorite episode in season 1! from Nobara's monologue about gender role to Zen'in' twins back story, incredible!

@@Cibanti Ofc that is true. But I can understand why Mai blames Maki as well, even though it is incorrect for her to.

The Milky Seafood Cup Noodles are really good. I put about 75% milk to 25% water and it's like a seafood chowder.

Its important to remind you guys that positive reinforcement doesnt make people stronger in this universe, due to the nature of curse energy
