Carl Reiner was an excellent writer but Dick Van Dyke and Mary Tyler Moore were so well matched for their parts you'd think they were married in real life.

Dick Van Dyke's brilliance was/is beyond compare. He's why so many got into the business. John Ritter loved him and his Jack Tripper mannerisms were taken right from Rob Petrie. Others who have cited him as an influence include Steve Martin, Chevy Chase, Conan O'Brien, Jim Carrey, Paul Reiser and Bryan Cranston
I love Laura's dress, it was so elegant. Probably annoying to wear. The clothes, hair, houses, furniture were so much more sophisticated. We have lost that glamour.

No need for restrictive undergarments, like say, Spanx. What heavy makeup were any of the women on that show wearing? As for hairstyles, they are ridiculous now and wirh more product and work.
He worked more as a Director than as an actor, in fact he directed episodes of 7 other series while DVD was still in production, including That Girl and The Munsters. He even directed films including Police Academy 2 and Police Academy 3.
I never noticed till the umpteenth time of the bloopers in the opening scene of the blonde and the cigarettes, as well as the muffin scene with Millie. Can you find them?
Where was Richie when Rob and Laura were out to dinner? No babysitter was there when they got back. Richie seemed to disappear and re-appear as needed. Most people have permanent children.
